I am surprized that this thread is so quiet, I would have figured there to be more flashlight junkies on the forum

I had a 10 mp Canon powershot like yours and I could never figure out how to get it to take good action shots either, it took great static shots though. Anyway about 6 months ago I upgraded to a Kodak Ezshare Z5010 and it is much much better camera all-around, while it has a ton of various noob friendly settings, my favorite feature on it is the ability to hold down the button and take a string of photos one right after the other, which makes capturing the action of my kids soccer games a lot easier. The optics on the Kodak are also way better than on the Canon, the Kodak is a 25-525mm Schneider-KREUZNACH lense, which I guess is supposed to be pretty good for a point & shoot, the digital autofocus and image stabilizer are both a lot faster than on the Canon, resolution is also 14 megapixels compared to the Canon's 10 mp. Anyway I only paid $199 for the Kodak at Walmart & I am very happy with it.

George Zimmerman's Donations Spike on His Return to Jail
RichardR replied to QuietDan's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
If I noticed someone following me, I would politely ask if they needed my assistance or something. They could be a good samaritain making sure I was ok or if I might need a ride, they might be lost and trying to find someone to ask directions from, they could be looking for a lost pet, or they might think I am someone that they know, or last but not least, they could be looking for their next victim, I wouldn't know for certain why they are following me until I stop and ask them. What I wouldn't do is ambush/assault them without first confirming they posed some sort of a threat to my safety. -
George Zimmerman's Donations Spike on His Return to Jail

Dave, Someone simply following you might cause you to be alarmed, but it would not be reasonable (ie; justified) to start smashing their head open, like Trayvon did to Zimmerman. Zimmerman may be an idiot, but he IMHO was justified in shooting the person who was violently trying to crack his skull open, a person's right of self-preservation trumps everything else. -
George Zimmerman's Donations Spike on His Return to Jail
RichardR replied to QuietDan's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I thought that their was conclusive evidence that Trayvon was (as Zimmerman claimed) indeed smashing the back of Zimmerman's head against concrete at the moment when Zimmerman discharged his firearm. So IMHO there is no doubt in my mind that Zimmerman would have had a reasonable fear of serious bodily injury or death, anyone finding themselves in that situation would have. I am sorry but the whole "maybe Trayvon had an unreasonable fear of being followed" arguement just doesn't justify Trayvon repeatedly smashing a volunteer neighborhood watchman's head against the pavement. -
Cool, I love flashlights! thanks for the heads up Jtluttrell. Another really inexpensive but really good choice is the Coleman Max line, I have a couple (one is a compact flashlight, the other is the headlamp version) & I have been really impressed with their quality, durablity & preformance, especially for the measly $25 price tag on them. Both of the ones I have take 3xAAA's, battery life is decent at full power (6 hrs @ 115 lumens) the flashlight one is a simple on/off soft tailswitch, the other headlamp version is a bit more fancy and has blue & red supplimental LED's & 3 adjustable power levels (low, med, high) for the main Cree LED.

Bible-college student arrested in New York for having pocketknife

Sounds more like "the State" is just hassling otherwise law abiding citizens for no other reason than just because they can. -
Are those Carolina trigger groups a single or double hook trigger group?

I have never done an actual EDC bag, or at least not one that I would carry on my person everywhere, although I do keep a GHB (get home bag) in the truck, along with other assorted stuff like a roadside kit, FAK, spare gas can, bottled water, flashlght, tools, tarp, blanket, straps, etc.

As ta-tarded as that is, for some odd reason I really really really want one.

.22LR's are definitely a lot of fun, I have several .22LR rifles but only one of them is setup for what I would consider "long distance precision shooting" well at least for that teeny-weeny caliber anyway, it is a CZ 452 American topped with a (Japanese manufactured) Tasco Varmint 6-24x, Harris bipod, shooting Federal Gold Medal match ammunition, etc. Great, (relatively) inexpensive fun that is for sure!
-
Interesting rifle you got there Robin, it appears to be a Kalashnikov designed, (5.45x39?, 7.62x39mm?) stamped reciever (Saiga, Romanian?) with an M4 type (side folding?) adjustable stock, quad rail forearm, Harris type bipod & some sort of short tubed telescopic sight (3-9x?). Details man we need details!

Warhammer? great now I know what I am getting my lil one for Christmas! ha ha anyway I have a framing hammer that would probably do quite a bit of damage if swung at someone, so I can just imagine what sort of damage an actual warhammer would do.

What I don't understand is how these clowns are getting away with outlawing normal everyday items, things and activities like that without "the people" marching into the State House and tar & feathering the tards responsible? Only criminals have pocket knives? really? has NYC really gone that far off of the deep end? -
Impressive, very impressive man, kudo's on a super-fantastic job.

I don't get it, a college aged kid was arrested for simply possessing a pocket knife in his pocket? OMFG imagine the terror if he had also been sipping on a 64 oz Big Gulp full of soda & eating a greasy bacon double cheese burger along with over-salted french fries fried in trans-fats! -
I still haven't watched the video but I totally agree with OhShoot. The rifling on rifled slugs allow the slugs to "squish" through chokes, forming sort of a gas seal and provides some additional preformance, as far as shooting slugs through any chokes smaller than IC, well that is another common misbelief, there is no way in heck an ammunition manufacturer would make their slugs to big in diameter to be shot through any "standard size" choke (including full choke) simply for liability reasons. I don't recommend it because there is no reason to do it (other than ignorance) but I doubt it would cause a catastrophic failure.

I just went and took a photo of some of my youngest daughters anti-zombie gear, I get a good laugh from this every time I see it.

I have a couple of sbrs that weigh in right at the 5lb mark and a m4 that sits right at 6.5lbs, all of them are forged uppers and lowers though so I could probably get the weight down on them if I wanted. However after the Bushmaster carbon fiber fiasco I have been a little leary about trying any of the poly/fiber uppers or lowers.

My phone wont load the video at the moment, signal strength isnt good enough so I cant comment on it, but good choice with the Persauder, you will be happy to know that the park finish on the Mossbergs is a lot better than the park finish on the Remingtons, however the opposite is true when it comes to bluing though, the bluing is better on Remingtons, well at least on the Wingmasters it is.

What is the most efficient way you've trapped rabbit?
RichardR replied to a topic in Hunting and Fishing
When I was a kid I used to have a lot of luck running a string of leg-traps, made quite a bit of pocket money doing it, however since then a lot of states, counties and localities have restricted or even forbidden the use of them since, so make sure you comply with all of the trapping ordinances, licenceing, etc, in your area prior to buying a bunch of leg-traps. -
I am not sure if the Mossberg Mavericks have dual extractors or not, but I do know that the 500 & 590 series feature dual extractors. I was a Remington 870 guy for a lot of years until about 12 years ago when my wife bought me a Mossberg 500 for Christmas, my initial impressions were very similar, ie it didnt feel as refined as the Remingtons do and I was (at first) just using it to make her happy, but the more I shot it the more I liked it, soon after I started selling off and trading my Remingtons for Mossbergs, my sole remaining 870 now only comes out of the safe to get oiled or to be used as a loaner shotgun, but it too will eventually be sold or traded off for another Mossberg. Dont get me wrong though, I still like Remingtons & I think that they are good shotguns, I just like the Mossbergs more.

18 or 20 w/regards to barrel length isnt going to matter all that much, it is the extra magazine capacity that makes the 20 a bit better for HD/SD. Granted the vast majority of emergency type situations that would require the use of deadly force, would probably be resolved by the use of a double barrel side-by-side, and probably without needing to reload it. But,if you have the choice between having 6 extra shells in your magazine or having 8 extra shells in your magazine, it might be a good idea to go with 8 instead of 6 just in case you find yourself in a situation that requires the neighborhood kids to "get off the lawn!"

Yup, that was my first thought too.
