  1. I wonder what George Washington's or Thomas Jefferson's reaction would have been if some British Soldiers had come onto their estate and tried to arrest them for the crime of "allowing their children to play outside".
  2. NWO stuff, it's been in the works for awhile, many if not most Dem's seem to support it, there are even some Rino's who think a "global government" is a good idea. I however don't particularly want my government enforcing global legislation on me, its bad enough keeping track of and obeying all of the federal, state, county & city/town ordinances as it is.
  3. Like JAB said, I'd have to say the most historically significant handgun in history would probably be the "Hand Gonne" which in and off itself wasn't all that effective, as it was just basically a minitureized cannon tube with a small stone or lead slug crammed down on top of a bit of black powder, which was touched off with a lighted piece of twig or rope, but the principle of a hand held cannon was born and the hand gun continues to be used worldwide to this day, heck even the Hand Gonne name is still in use as a general term. Without the "Hand Gonne" Ferdinad might have to have been stabbed, pushed out a window or poisoned or maybe even bludgened to death.
  4. DD's are a bit more coin than the S&W Sport but you should be very happy with it none the less. You should know that you are probably now afflicted with "BRD" or Black Rifle Disease, which is not only a chronic condition it is also very contagious! Enjoy your new addiction, but becareful or you'll wake up one day with a big'ole safe full of the suckers!
  5. Nope not long or boring at all, I love to read stories like yours, many of us have similar ones ourselves & hopefully our children and grandchildren will tell ours one day. I am looking forward to seeing pic's of your fathers Winchester.
  6. Wow, just wow. Stuff like this lends credibility to all of the tin-foil hatters who claim the US has become a "police state" it sort of makes it kind of hard to argue with them when I keep reading isolated after isolated after isolated incidents like this.
  7. Personally I think S&W MP15's (both Sport & non-Sport variants) are some of the best value AR's on the market. While I do not own a "Sport" version I have shot a few and besides the lack of a dust cover and FA, I couldn't tell any difference between the Sport & non-Sport MP15's or any other quality AR for that matter. I just wish the Sport would had been on the market when I was first started to get into AR's, they would have saved me a lot of dough!
  8. I am better prepared than most, but I don't think that anyone can be really prepared for a wide/large/prolonged type economic collapse or the following civil unrest. As far as what I have done lately to prep? I have started commercial fishing, which at the very least be able to put food on my table & give me some barterable goods when/if the grocery store shelves are empty.
  9. A I graffittied up the first Chicom SKS I owned with a wood burner, end result was worth it, doubled my money on it when I sold it, I even told the buyer that I was the one who did it but they didn't care, still looked neat enough that he had to have it. Last Enfield I had (1942 No.4, MK1) I refinished the badly pitted wood w/a textured grip type (sand partical infused) "desert" colored paint that turned out really well, heresy I know but again the end result was worth it, there was no other way to save it without the wood putty showing or without sanding a ton of the wood down, it had definiately been in a blast of some kind, it even still had small pieces of shrapnel lodged in it when I bought it. It would have made for an intersting wall-hanger because of it's history but I was more interested in making it field worthy again, it was too good of a shooter to leave as it was and hang it up like some sort of museum piece.
  10. Don's Guns is one of those gunstores that I always tended to avoid when I lived in Indy, not only were the prices outragious but the shop itself was frequented by some of the worst elements, so no surprise on this end, I am actually shocked that stuff like this doesn't happen more often there.
  11. Lee-Enfields are my favorite surplus rifles, great shooters w/sweet actions, the triggers on them are kind of rough being service rifles and all, but with a bit of practice its easy to get used to them. Way better rifles than the Mosins that are being dumped on us! Sure do wish we could still get $69 Enfields again!
  12. I have always just cut a small piece of bicycle innertube and used it on Glocks as a slip on grip, works great, very comfortable.
  13. Another vote for Magpul M2/M3 series slings, quick & easy adjustments, no binding, very comfortable, QD mounts, a bit on the expensive side but worth every penny IMHO.
  14. Well its not constipation so your guys guess is about as good as mine as to what the cause may be, but the feeling that something big is about to happen is very "real" at least to me it is.
  15. I agree with both Newman & Mykltn, Golden Sabers & Hydrashocks in .380 typically expand as they should while still getting decent penetration. .32 is a bit iffier, I generally stick with FMJ ball ammunition to ensure that vitals can be reached.
  16. I am definately not psychic (or psychotic) but I am unable to shake the feeling like something big is about to happen. Sort of like the feeling you get right before a big storm and you feel the change in the bariatic pressure.
  17. I personally prefer Polytech Legend's on the high-end AK sliding scale, but VEPR's are very nice, no doubt about it. Are they worth the extra coin over say a mid-tier AK? To some folks they are, but we are talking AK's in the Colt 6920 price range, and 922R neutered for import besides that!

    New AR owner

That is the one of the great things about the AR platform, an almost unendless number of caliber and configuration options it is really easy to customize a rifle to suit various personal tastes & professional tasks. But then again I am just as happy shooting an old 20" standard service rifle A1 as I am shooting the "latest and greatest Mall-Ninja's wet dream" rifle, so I suppose that I just like stuff that goes "bang!"...

    M&p 15 x

S&W MP15's are excellent rifles, but then again even their lower end "sporter series" MP15 AR's are good rifles. The Sig 516 is also a good choice, a bit more pricey but not too terribly so. Which one I choose probably would boil down to which one I could get the better deal on, as both are very serviceable duty/patrol weapons, the whole DI/piston debate is a non-issue to me, as I have never had any reliability issues with either gas system.
  20. I use cheese cloth &/or old gauze for the same thing, especially on yo-yo's.
  21. I don't have a clue as to when, what, how or why, but I'll be damned if I can't seem to shake this feeling today.
  22. I am getting a really odd/weird feeling like something "big" is about to happen, I sure hope that I am just constipated or something but my "spidey senses" are tingling .... is anyone else getting that feeling today?
  23. I have a lot of luck w/rubber grubs & frogs as well as foam crickets, in shallow water for panfish, so I usually keep a few of those in my canoe tackle.
  24. While I never keep/store a firearm in my vechicle on a regular basis there are times that I lock my work gun in the truck temporarily, especially while I am running errands and such, so anyone stealing my truck during one of those times has to be considered "armed" as I would have no way of knowing if they had discovered the firearm that was locked in the truck at that point or not. Maybe we should pass legislation making it unlawful to steal stuff? That would solve this potential problem all together.
  25. Yea that is why I liked those little Smith's carbide/ceramic sharpeners, quick, easy to use, put a very "usable" edge on almost anything with just a few strokes, even fillet knives which I like to keep very sharp, makes filleting so much easier. But some of my thicker bladed knives wouldn't fit into the "V" so I decided to check out ths Smith's clamp type system to try to cut down on the amount of time I spend sharpening my larger knives, since I use a lot of various knives on a daily basis, couple that with having to make my own cigarettes now which cuts into my precious time there just isn't enough hours in the day anymore LOL! But so far I am pleased, it is quick and easy to use, puts a really very "usable" edge on my larger knives and was reasonable in price, I can't recall how much I paid for it but I think it was under $20 at Walmart.
