  1. I would venture a guess that the probability of wide spread & violent civil unrest happening will be fairly high if Obama looses the election. I really hope that this is not the case but all of these flash mob attacks & robberies that have been happening all over the country really do not inspire a whole lot of confidence.
  2. Agreed, the XPS models are worth the extra hassle of having to use 123 batteries.
  3. Yep my S&W 19-4 Combat Magnum also has some really beautiful deep bluing, although the bluing on mine is getting noticeably thin in some places but to its credit it has and continues to be shot & carried regularly for almost 40 years now. I would say it has held up rather well considering the amount of use it has seen.
  4. I have been ankle carrying for years, always weakside with either a Jframe or the last couple of years an LCP. The slight bulge is less noticable on the inside of the ankle and the drawing from that ankle is a bit more natural/fluid for me.
  5. Slide out Qwert keyboards, replaceable batteries, open app market, replaceable micro-sd cards, etc, are the main reason I use android phones, I am currently on my 2 yr old HTC Aspire (Sprint) but I also have a newer LG Optimus Zip (Verison) sitting next to me which I like a tad better. My old original 8gb Iphone (no carrier anymore) never leaves the stereo craddle, now it just holds music, but to its credit it does still work just fine though. I never liked Itunes, the Google store is a whole lot better IMO with tons of free apps, some of them are garbage trial versions but I have found quite a few useful free apps, Foxfi (previously mentioned in this thread) being the best so far.
  6. The biggest advantage I have noticed in my time using them was when I was holding one hostile at gunpoint while trying to locate a second hostile, I was able to keep the red dot on suspect #1, out of the corner of my vision while continually scanning the surrounding area for suspect #2. Without the dot I would have lost sight picture on hostile #1 completely every time I scanned left or right, up or down ...
  7. It's ARs that you have to watch out for, those suckers can multiply like rabbits if you are not careful!
  8. I adjust the laser dot so that it sits directly on top of my front sight post when looking down the irons, I usually index them for 21 feet, of course the closer or farther from that index point the greater the POA/POI off-set is going to be, but if they are indexed at 21' its going to be plenty accurate for most SD scenarios.
  9. Agreed, fantasizing about zombie hordes is much more fun than stressing out over politics and stuff. And yea we should all have some sort of "overwatch" looking out for us at all times if at all possible, this of course isnt always as easy as it sounds, it will take a bit of planning and prep to always have overwatch in place without themselves ending up as zombie treats and it would take an experienced marksman in that overwatch role to be able to effectively "shoot around" friendlies without putting those friendlies at more risk.
  10. Hard to say on this end what sort of experience the guy has with using laser sights, or what he was trying to achieve during his session but personally I think laser sights are great, especially when they are properly indexed with a weapon's existing iron sights. They should never be used as a substitute for the basics though, unless it is an emergency situation and the weapon simply cannot be brought up and sighted down properly.
  11. Yup that is the one, I think I am going to start a rival gang & call it Romney's Ruffians!
  12. A Tavor eh? I wasn't aware that they had hit the open market yet. I am not a huge fan of bullpups in general though, don't get me wrong their compactness is great but the trigger systems due to having the long linkages have always been very clunky feeling.
  13. Back on the topic of gangs for a moment, anyone else catch the news story about the "Obama boyz" gang shooting on Drudge? A violent street gang named after a President of the United States of America? I guess Obama is inspiring America's youth. I wonder if the shooting was over one of those "free Obama phones" that I have been hearing about?
  14. I was just wondering if anyone has anyone taken the HCP course offered by these folks? I finally got around to signing up but I am curious as to what I should expect, seeing as how in Indiana all you had to do was pass background checks in order to get a LTCH. In fact my Indiana LTCH is a life-time one, so it seems a bit redundant to have to get another but hey whatever keeps me legal eh?
  15. I would have no qualms carrying a Makarov, the Polish variant that I owned was plenty accurate & reliable enough to depend on. The only reason I never carried the one that I had was back then there wasn't very many options in holsters & ammunition was limited to surplus stuff, these days with the internet there are a lot more aftermarket choices.
  16. Same thing happened with Spikes, I am not sure why certain folks "fanboi" companies to the extent that they do, ignoring (or worse excusing) legitimate complaints is just bad for business.
  17. While I like the balance & feel of the 19/66's a tad bit better, the 586/686 is a heck of a great revolver. And yes 6.8, same issue. It's ok to shoot the lighter 110 & 125 grain magnum rounds in them, just limit how many of the light grainers that you shoot through it, if you are going to be shooting a lot of magnums stick with the 158gr's. I shoot & even carry 125gr loaded in my 19-4, but I don't shoot a steady diet of them through it.
  18. Yea I am curious as to how long it will stay this sharp, I chose my Colombian Corona machete because it has a really nice hard carbon steel blade that retains its edge better than my other machetes, the carbon steel of my Salvadorian Imacasa is close but that is more of a large bush knife than an actual machete, anyway I also double beveled the edge on the Corona in order to give it a bit more edge retention ability. I usually just sharpen my machetes with a mini-grinder, this is the first time I have ever really turned one into a two-foot long razor using oil stones, I sure wouldn't want to accidently knick my leg while cutting brush with it now that is for sure!
  19. In honor of this thread I've sharpened up both a bayonet & a machete, to the point where they both easily shave off hair, I am going to take them, a crowbar, a roofing hammer, a baton & a medieval flail (just for giggles) and figure out a way to "test" the effectiveness of each. I don't have exactly how I am going to "test" them all figured out yet (pig carcass maybe?) but it should be a fun project none the less, I'll make sure to have a camera handy to document the carnage.
  20. Typically yea the looser they are the more reliable they tend to be, the tighter the fit the more accurate they tend to be, there are exceptions but that is generally the case. My personal favorite is my Colt Combat Commander, it sounds like a rattle if you shake it but it'll run all day, all night, day after day, year after year without a single hiccup or complaint, even as loose as it is it is still considerably accurate though, which is probably why I love the dern thing so much.
  21. Yup yup, that's the way my P226R DAK is too, unbelieveabley smooth, easy to shoot and very accurate, puts most of my other pistols to shame. I'd love to get together and put our Sig's head-to-head some time, it would be cool to see which ragged hole was smaller than the other.

    Keltec P32

I never had good luck with any of the Keltecs that I have owned, some folks swear by theirs though, I just was never able to get my P32 or my P11 to work reliably enough to trust. I have however had very good luck with my Ruger LCP, which is very similar in size and design to the P32, but way more reliable, at least vs the P32 that I owned.
  23. Very nice, I am not generally a fan of pistol grips on shotguns but at least yours has a shoulder stock too. Anyway shotguns are my prefered "go to" guns, loaded with 00 buck they are just wicked nasty.
  24. I have never had any problems with RRA, anyway I am looking forward to reading your range report
