Sandy hook conspiracy? (Bring your tin foil hat)
RichardR replied to ProjectDexter's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
History is ripe with all sorts of conspiracy's, false-flag operations & manufactured crisis, whether or not Sandyhook is yet another example of one of these is way above & beyond my paygrade. The motivating factors behind the vast majority of these sorts of things is almost always CONTROL, POWER &/or MONEY. For the folks who don't think hundreds or even thousands of people can keep a secret? Well you would be very mistaken, again all you have to do is open a history book or two, plenty of examples of massive "secret" plans/projects/conspiracy's, etc, involving thousands, even tens of thousands of people who some how were either ideologically driven, economically driven or fearfully driven to keep their mouths shut. Was Sandyhook was a real event or a staged one? I personally believe that it really happened, but I suppose it is possible that it could have been staged. If you believe that it would be impossible for our government to even consider, let alone do such a thing, you might want to educate yourself on just how dirty our government is willing to get its hands if they believe that the ends justify the means. Do yourself a favor by researching the now declassified "Operation Northwoods", which was drafted way back in 1962 & authorized by the Joint Chiefs of Staff. It is a serious eye opener to anyone & everyone who likes to "tin-foil hats!" the very possibility of members of our own government being involved in something like what happened at Sandyhook. -
The military needs a more general type camo pattern that works to hide from other human eyes across a wider range of areas & seasons, while hunters can "fine tune" their camo pattern & colors for specific animals in specific areas & in different seasons. Take a digital camera, go out to the area in the season that you want to hunt, take some snapshots, compare the snapshots w/realtree app match the patterns/colors as best you can and you'll get the best camo for your needs.

State suspends gun carry permit for James Yeager
RichardR replied to ironsniper1's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
TMF, I really don't want to defend Yeager but ...the act of tyranny Yeager described as to the context of which his "shoot people" comment was subject, is the whole purpose behind why the 2nd Amendment exists in the first place. Yes Yeager probably should have used better judgement prior to stepping in front of his video camera & letting loose with his little rant, but this issue is way bigger than he is. These days the Bill of Rights is little more than a punch-line in a really bad joke, the simple fact that this Administration admits it is even considering bypassing Congress by issuing an EO to limit any of our Constitutionally protected Rights should have angered every single free-thinking American. That's my .02 on this topic anyway, just do me a favor & spend it wisely. -
State suspends gun carry permit for James Yeager
RichardR replied to ironsniper1's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I think he was refering to how we (those of us on the "right" side of the political aisle) as a group, have no real loyalty to each other & will quickly abandon one of our own at the first hint of a scandal. While on the "left" side of the political aisle, they all quickly circle the wagon & defend their members, regardless of what they may have done. Unity (or lack thereof) is often the difference between those who's causes are won & those who's causes are lost. At least that is what I believe he was attempting to point out. -
Our are Constitutional Rights so fragile that we all must "tippy-toe" carefully while excercizing them? Lest they be taken away entirely? Is that the America that we want to leave our children?

RichardR replied to ironsniper1's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I am no fan of Yeagers, but his retarded comments were not illegal, thus they are protected, so IMHO "punishing him" by revoking/suspending his permit because someone didn't like his stupid but otherwise lawful comments violates not only his 1st but also his 2nd, 6th & 14th Amendment rights.. -
No Sig's or Glocks on your list? Anyway out of the ones you listed I would go with the S&W's, the M&P line is a great choice regardless of caliber.

It is not about good or evil of an inanimate object, it is about the "power" that the possessor wields while armed with that inanimate object, which in turn could be used for good or evil purpose. Firearms are the great equalizer, an 80 year old woman with a firearm does not need to be victim to a younger, stronger assaliant, even if that assaliant is likewise armed. Same could be said about an armed populace vs agents of a corrupt/tyranical government, victimhood is far less likely an outcome, if that population has the tools (aka "power") to defend themselves. This is why every dictaorial/communist regime's first priority throughout history has been to disarm the population they sought to control.

Sandy hook conspiracy? (Bring your tin foil hat)

If ....if the whole Sandyhook incident was in fact staged .... "Or what" would be my guess. -
Congratulations on your new scattergun Pattywack, very good choice btw, Mossberg 590's are IMHO one of the best pump action shotguns, topped only by the Mossberg 590A1. As far as what home defense load to choose, I personally prefer Federal's Law Enforcement 00 Buck Reduced Recoil shells, the pellets are copper plated & buffer packed, coupled with Federal's "flight control" wad, they pattern nice & tight out of all of my shotguns, the reduction in recoil also helps keep your shoulder intact if you ever find yourself shucking shell after shell downrange in an extended engagement/target session. Speedfeed stocks are a much better alternative to side saddles, which have a tendency to snag on stuff, slings are also more of a hassle on a HD shotgun than they are worth, only reason to use a sling is if you are going to be hoofing/walking/hiking long distances with your shotgun. 2 3/4" shells are more than enough for HD, the only reason to use 3" or 3 1/2" shells are for extended range shots, at say turkey's, ducks or geese or for really large/dangerous game like elk, moose or bears. I don't recommend using birdshot for HD purposes, in my experience birdshot simply does not penetrate deeply enough or at least not reliably deep enough to instantly disrupt vital organ/cns functions which is required to achieve that vaunted "one shot stop" which is what you'd want in a life or death scenario. Anyway congratulations again, I am certain you will really enjoy your new scattergun!

Meh, personally not a fan of Charter Arms. For the money I'd much rather have a Taurus or Rossi, or if you can swing a little extra coin a used Ruger or if you look around a bit maybe even a used S&W that fits in your budget.

A head to head, Colt Python vs S&W M19 Combat Magnum would be interesting.

Eotech's sit atop my rifles for a reason, that reason is because the recticle's 65moa outer ring makes target aquisition very quick, much quicker than plain single dot recticles, especially important when/if you are engaging fast moving targets like yotes. Aimpoints do have the advantage of battery life, but I keep several spare lithium CR123 batteries in my AR's pistol grip storage compartment so I will never run out of juice, even in an extended emergency situation.

No one will survive very long without cooperating with other "survivors". Bandits will be bandits, but I honestly believe that the majority of folks will still be looking to scatch out an honest living, even if it is a meager one.

So who knows about UHF/VHF handheld radios?
RichardR replied to Dolomite_supafly's topic in Survival and Preparedness
I have a pair of Motorola GMRS/FRS Talkabout hand-helds & a mounted CB radio in my truck, for basic, non-secure, short-range comm needs. I have used my Motorola's quite a bit over the last 6 or so years that I have owned them so I am very familiar with what their terrain & range limitations are. I'd like to get a bigger/better antenna for my CB to get more range out of it, but I can't seem to find a source for those big "whip" ones anywhere locally, granted a CB setup like mine is still a short range proposition but at least it'd help me reach out a bit further than I can reach at the moment. I'd really love to get a decent HAM radio, but money is super-tight at the moment so the longer CB antenna will have to do until then. Anyone know where I can get a longer antenna for my truck? -
<blockquote class='ipsBlockquote'data-author="TripleDigitRide" data-cid="876331" data-time="1357366851">
Common sense doesn't have a place in this debate. Carry on...

Exactly. If the folks on "the left" were actually concerned about innocent children being massacred they would be demanding abortion be banned. But instead they vehemately defend the practice of mothers murdering their own children, while that child is still in the womb, which have averaged around a million give or take, every single year in this country since Roe v Wade (for a total of what? 32 million or so?) while at the very same time espousing complete & utter horror over a measly 20 kids killed by an evil assault gun. I am not attempting to minimize the Sandyhook tragidy, only pointing out the mind boggling hypocracy from that side of the political aisle.

I think a much more interesting topic for an article would be to examine the mystery behind why there are so many Americans who adhire to socialist/communist ideologies.

Shoulder Holster - Vertical or Horizontal?
RichardR replied to Motasyco's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
I prefer horizontal rigs, with the rig setup so that the pistol/revolver's grip is at a slight downward angle, in my experience they are more comfortable to wear, conceal better & are quicker to draw the weapon from vs a vertical rig.
