Our freedoms are infinately more important than your "feelings" if you do not like being part of the problem the solution is easy, ... stop being part of the problem.

The militaration of domestic law enforcement agencies has been happening for decades, it's just picking up pace inorder to keep President Obama's campaign promise to (paraphrasing) "create a domestic police force which is just as powerful, just as big & just as well funded as our armed forces". The ultimate purpose/reason of this is of course just speculation & guess work, but history is ripe with examples of what can & does happen when this sort of domestic law enforcement build-up does occur, none of which (at least to my knowledge) had been for benign purposes/reasons.

I've always had very good luck w/all of the Bushnell optics that I've owned over the years, they do not come with any bragging rights at the range but they do preform very well out in the field, at the least I've always have gotten my money's worth out of the Bushnell's I have owned. Anyway IMHO 4.5x sounds like it would be plenty of magnification for what you want to do with it, the common trend/mistake of "over-magnifying" focuses only on a single aspect of a scope's utility, where as I believe that a wide FOV (field of view) is every bit as important as having enough magnification & clarity to put a round on target, especially a target that is moving. Granted using a scope with a wide FOV is not a first consideration for recreational target &/or professional benchshooters, but it is important out in the field, as is weather resistance, ruggedness/durability, light gathering ability, etc. There are a lot of good in-depth discussions & first-hand reviews on optics can be found on the snipershide forums, I don't want to hot-link it but a google search should bring it right up.

You wouldn't draw & shoot some thug who was trying to taze you with a tazer? Personally I consider that a very serious "precurser" of an attempt to cause SBI or death, what possible reason would the thug have to try to instantly incapacitate someone else if not to commit other crimes against that person such as rob, rape, assault, kidnap or even possibly to murder them?

Because it creates a false sense of comfort for a lot of folks who wrongly believes that it prevents criminals from obtaining firearms.

It's not an insult, it's just an observation. And Robert if you had paid any attention to my previous post, you would had noticed the portion where I had stated that there was a substantial percentage of the population who have this particular way of thinking & that it was pointless to argue, debate or try to compromise with folks who have the "authoritative mindset" because the more law & order there is, the more comfortable they feel. This sort of deeply entrenched "authoritative mindset" is rampant on both sides of the political aisle (because it is rampant in our population at large) and always seems to manifest itself in the politics & ideology of both the Repub & Dem political party's, resulting ultimately in pieces of legislation after pieces of legislation, generation after generation being passed which constantly/ceaselessly infringes on the social chaos that is created by freedom & liberty. Law & order is diameterically opposed with freedom & liberty, the more of one, the less of the other, you cannot have both complete law & order as well as complete freedom & liberty. And a balance cannot be struck somewhere in the middle because of the vast number of folks (who have an authoritiative mindset) who are uncomfortable with any sort of social chaos that is created when other folks are free & at liberty to do whatever the heck they want, whenever the heck they want to do it. This is the source of tyranny, this is the dragon that must be slain.

I grew up in Indianapolis, as a matter of fact there are quite a few former Hoosiers who've relocated down here, a word of caution though TN firearm, knife, baton, etc laws are a lot different (ie: stricter) than Indiana's so make sure to research them all real well to keep from getting into any potential trouble. Where at in TN did you relocate to?

Prehaps actually punishing burglars with stiff sentences when they are caught, instead of "catching & releasing" them would solve the problem? Or is that not the agenda?

Yet another great example of the "authoritative mindset", if my comment's do not meet with "your approval" that's just to bad Robert. I do not always color within the lines .... but I do always paint the picture that I want folks to see.

A $1,000 investment in tar & feathers would probably save our nation hundreds of billions in waste, fraud & abuse ...

Thanks Dave, you are a great example of the "authoritarian-mindset" that I mentioned in my previous post, this is exactly the sort of mentality which is currently corrupting our nation's most basic founding principles & destroying the last little bits of individual liberty & freedom that the American People have remaining. Your "if there was only two people left on earth" comment, where you automatically assumed that one of them would have to have authority over the other one, instead of the two of them being equals is what our founding fathers attempted to protect us from when they wrote the Bill of Rights. If you've ever played a game of "Jenga" imagine replacing the tower of stacked wooden planks with our individual liberties & freedoms, if people who believes as you do keeps pulling pieces of them out one at a time even each plank is removed very slowly/carefully, the tower will still eventually collapse & have to be rebuilt.

Shame that it will probably be ignored, purposely misinterpreted &/or eventually re-legislated/re-adjudicated, I have zero faith in it being upheld or reaffirmed.

The American People really need to "rediscover" tar & feathering, public stockades, whipping posts, pockmarked walls & hangmen's nooses, if that was to happen a lot of this sort of traitorous stuff would end real quick.

Welp unfortunately there seems to be a substantial percentage the American People who no have absolutely no desire to dwell in the chaos that is liberty & freedom, prefering instead the much calmer serenity of authoritarianism. Because of this they cannot be reasoned with or begged for compromise, they have no desire to be "free" themselves & thus will not allow individual-minded people like you or your children to be "free" to cause any chaos within their calm, comfortable collective.

I'm surprised that anyone (who pays attention) is surprised by this. It's standard operating procedure for obtaining & maintaining authoritarianistic/totalitarianistic societies. This sort of reduction/removal/replacement of parential importance/influence phenomenon is very well documented (if anyone cares to research it) and has been very effective in manipulating & controling a nation's populace in every "single political party nation" such as the U.S.S.R., Cuba, People's Republic of China, etc, that has adopted the practice. There should be no doubt to anyone that this is the direction our nation is currently headed, the evidence of it is literally undeniable & unfortunately roughly half of all *cough* Amerikan voters *cough* actually desire this ..."fundamental transformation". We lost the Cold War, of that I'm absolutely certain.

Shoulda, coulda, woulda. There is no such thing as "rights" parential or otherwise anymore, the pot of water was boiled to slowly for the frog to take notice.

Well said, the "grey-man" approach seems a smarter way to travel, especially if travelling on foot & across unknown, potentially dangerous territory where there is no easy way to tell who is friend & who is foe.
