Patriot or terrorist? The LA Times says...
RichardR replied to GKar's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
That was a great impersonation of Joseph Goebbels, seriously it was awesome, made me feel just like what a Jew living in Germany circa 1934 must have felt. -
Rifle Gunfighting Class: a review
RichardR replied to Stegall Law Firm's topic in Training Discussions
Yup a dump pouch is very handy for retaining empty mags, I use a drop down one, which is a little more "tactical" than I care to use now that I am a civi but it is what I've trained with so it is what I use. I guess if I am carrying a long-gun, a drop down dump pouch isn't going to be the thing that draws attention to myself though LOL. -
I picked up a few thousand artillery round "flechettes" from the local surplus store about 25 years ago & loaded those up in shotshells, wicked cool stuff for short range work but the realitively light steel darts ran out of energy about 50 yards or so, but they literally shredded the @#$% out of anything & everything within 25 yds. I had to load half of them point forward & half of them fins forward to get them all to fit neatly into the shotcup, the point forward darts would fly & penetrate fairly well, but the fins forward darts would tumble through the air & spread fairly wide. Devestating little buggers, but I had no practical purpose for them besides just good wholesome range fun, in fact I think that I still have a bunch of them somewhere, might load up a tube or two just for shits & giggles again. Let's see, oh after watching "Young Guns 2" I loaded up some dimes, wasn't really impressed, & the results definately wasn't worth the expense IMHO. I also have made rocksalt shells, this was also about 25 years ago for pest control purposes, I was told that salt + garden was not a good idea though since it'll make the soil sterile or something like that, so I discontinued those & switched to using a pellet rifle instead. I've also loaded "airsoft" training shotshells, using only the primer & shotcup + airsoft BB's, those work really well actually, just make absolutely sure that you don't mix them up w/live ammunition & that the other folks are wearing safety gear, full-face masks recommended!

Meh. For the most part AR's & AK's will all typically shoot & function the same, the real difference between the "tiers" is in features & the fit/finish department. Best advice I can give is to avoid getting yourself bogged down in all of unimportant minutia that "entarweb operators" on online firearm forums argue over & just buy which ever rifle catches your eye at which ever price point you have budgeted, then buy a lot of ammo & go have some fun at the range. You'll be able to tell quickly enough if the rifle that you bought was worth the price you paid.

More help for us all from 1600 insanvania ave

Interesting how Snopes would claim the tax is "false" when it is listed on the IRS publication. I think it's time for the leftist propogandists at Snopes to get punched repeatedly in the throat. -
I look at it this way, Zimmerman didn't receive the wounds to his face & the back of his head AFTER shooting Martin. Therefore his claim that he fired in self-defense is undeniable, there is zero doubt in my mind that Zimmerman was being brutally assaulted when he fired his weapon. So I believe anyone & everyone who is pushing for Zimmerman to be charged/prosecuted/imprisoned is doing so for idiological/political/racial reasons. Both Zimmerman & Martin had a right to be where they were, but Martin did not have the right to brutally assault Zimmerman, Zimmerman did however have the right to end/stop that ONGOING (at the time) brutal assault with deadly force, due to the seriousness/immediateness of the situation. Simply put ... you cannot repeatedly/violently smash another person's head into concrete without putting that person in fear of their life &/or serious bodily injury. Had the assault ended & Martin had gotten up to walk away when the shot was fired then & only then should Zimmerman been charged, but from all accounts, the assault was still ongoing when Zimmerman shot Martin. The only crime I can see is charging Zimmerman because Martin "was black" & a bunch of other "black folks" demanded Zimmerman be charged. Sickens me to no end to see such blatent racial politics poison our justice system to the extent where victims of violent crimes also become victims of a corrupt system.

TSA allows knives on planes... what to buy?
RichardR replied to jgradyc's topic in Knives, Lights, EDC Gear
I keep a little SOG Fusion Micron on my key chain, handy little blade, sharpens up very sharp, edge retention is very good, the "handle" is just as small as the blade but I can get a decent enough grip on it with two-fingers & thumb for most tasks, the black finish has worn considerably in the 4 or so years it has been on there but it shows no signs of any rust. The blade is still just as wiggle free in the handle as when I first received it, which I was positive wouldn't be the case 4 years of use later, but I am pleased because it is such a handy little tool, I am not sure what these cost, I got mine for free from SOG but if I ever lost or needed to replace mine for some reason I wouldn't hesitate to shell out 20-25 bucks for another one. -
Another "too many server redirects" error on this one http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/62150-colorado-dem-to-rape-survivor-at-gun-hearing-%C3%A2%C2%80%C2%9Cstatistics-aren%C3%A2%C2%80%C2%99t-on-your-side%C3%A2%C2%80%C2%9D/ Like I said, I am not sure why but the problem does seem to be limited to android devices & only occurs on certain threads, no amount of clearing caches or force-stops or even completely reinstalling seems to correct it.

I have a tiered BUGOUT system, the "on foot" bags in that system are very simple & lightweight (15 lbs each), with just the essentials for travelling on foot for a few days, each has a spare pair of boots, a couple spare pairs of socks, skiviies, as well as "water resistant" pants, shirt & jacket, with a long heavy duty rain pancho that can be opened/hung up to serve as a mini-shelter if need be. Tool wise there is a LED headlamp & small LED flash light in each, a multi-tool, a map & compass, a small first aid kit, a tinderbox, matches, etc, as well as a couple of liters of water & a couple days worth of high energy trial mix and a GMR/FRS two-way radio attached to each. Granted these are nothing fancy as their sole purpose is to carry the basic essentials for a few days of hiking, so only point A to point B sort of stuff are packed in them. The one thing that really sets these apart from other bags of this type are the "water resistant" clothing, not only is it super light weight, it packs down into very small package, it is made from "rip stop" & will keep you relatively dry even in a nasty downpour. Stearns is the company who made the stuff that I use, but I am sure that there are other brands that would work just as well, it isn't exactly cheap but the weight/space savings alone is worth it, the water resistance is just a very nice bonus.

There aren't UN tanks in West Virginia...
RichardR replied to East_TN_Patriot's topic in General Chat
Well the UN uses pretty much whatever heavy equipment they can lease, leased from a nation nearest to the AO where they intend to use the equipment at/in. It wouldn't surprise me to see them use leased M2 Bradley's in say Haiti or some other nearby "UN trouble spot". Not much of a conspiracy if you ask me, just standard UN procurement procedure, if those M2's were indeed leased to the UN, they probably wouldn't be repainted until they got into UN's hands. Just my .02 -
Ok found another one of those "too many redirects" threads, not sure if this will be helpful or not but here is the link to it, will list them as I come across them. http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/61918-%C3%A2%C2%80%C2%9Cthey%C3%A2%C2%80%C2%99re-coming-after-the-standard-shotgun%C3%A2%C2%80%C2%9D-colorado/

No airsoft parts are inter-changeable with their real steel counter-parts, at least none that I have ever seen & I (as well as the folks I play/train with) use the high-end professional training airsoft stuff. Oh they look & feel like the real thing, but after this incident we stripped down various airsoft stuff & tried to match it up with real steel weapons, every single part was a no-go, even the various rail systems & rail accessories are slightly different in size. Metalurgy is different too, I wouldn't trust a mix-matched airsoft lower even if it could be machined enough to mate up with a real steel upper assembly. That is just my .02

Nothing that I've tried on my end has fixed either the "to many redirects" error messages or have fixed the photo problems. And I have literally tried everything that I can think of to get them resolved, shame because I really enjoy the TGO forums & I know that I am missing out on some interesting content.

I've been out riding a few times this winter but the older I get the less inclined that I am to toss my leg over when it's cold &/or wet out. I do own some pretty decent cold weather gear but cold weather is really starting to seep down into my bones these last few years & I seem to be riding my recliner more often when the weather gets bad. Anyway I've been riding a Yamaha V-Star the last 12 or so years, never a lick of trouble out of it the entire time & the poor girl has never seen the inside of a garage, at least not since the day I rode her off the showroom floor. Granted she ain't as purty as she used to be but I sure do like that bike, I'll take a picture of her to post up here this weekend, not enough light out there right now to get a good photo, besides she's partially covered in snow at the moment.

I ordered 3 (one for my truck, one for my motorcycle & one for my hiking pack) & they sent me 5, so that was very cool of them, now I have one I can tack up on my office wall & one spare map incase something happens to one of the other ones.

His real name? Is it Barry Soereto (sp)? Or Barrack Hussien Obama? That's never really been explained to me exactly how that came about. Or how he has a social security number from a State in which he has never been a legal resident of ... Way too many unanswered questions about this guy that no-one in the media seems to care about, I wouldn't even hire him to babysit my kids with a background check containing so many red-flags let alone entrust all of our nations most secret secrets to him *sigh* wtf America? Was electing our first *black President* so G'damn important that fact-checking the @#$%^%$,ers resume that #$%^#$ing unimportant?

Hard to say one way or another without having witnessed the event, lots of possibilities there, so it is hard for me to second guess the guy &/or his actions without more facts, that said, I personally would not shoot a fleeing hostile unless they were still engaging me while they were fleeing & I certainly wouldn't allow an active shooter to get behind cover/concealment, even if that included me having to shoot the shooter in his back to prevent it. Shame that some sheeple will only look at "shot in his back" as guilty as charged & seek to convict the guy without even considering the possibility of it being a good shoot.

The Resistance is beginning...
RichardR replied to jaxjohn419's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Same thing that always happens, arrest, charge, conviction, incarceration, doesn't matter to them, they aren't the ones who will be effected. -
I have a some-what long LOP so it fits me really well, however I do admit that it was kind of awkward when I was wearing PASGT armor, but it hasn't been an issue since switching over to a Weesatch plate carrier years ago. But yea now that I think about it, that could be an issue for smaller statured folks since they are "full sized" & not adjustable, at least that is how they came when I first bought mine, not sure if Speedfeed makes a youth sized or an adjustable version or not..

K31 is one of my favorite surplus rifles, they are very well made with actions as slick as butter, heavy but crisp triggers, usually are very accurate even with surplus ammunition, unfortunately the supply of both rifles & cheap ammunition has dried up on them but they can occasionally still be found for semi-reasonable prices if you shop around, the missing magazine is kind of problematic & will lower the value a bit, but a replacement can probably be found on one of the auction sites easily enough, I would suggest an original instead of a reproduction, last I heard folks were having trouble with feeding out of the repos but it has been several years since I have owned a K31 so that might have been corrected. Over-all they are very nice shooters, the 7.5 cartridge is a great hunting & target round, like the .303 it is often over-looked here in the United States but is very popular around the rest of the world, unfortunately about 10 years ago I started thinning out the number of cartridges that I shot and the 7.5 was edged out by the .303 just barely though, it was a hard choice to make but at the time I could still get good Turkish .303 surplus cheap, shame that that dried up a couple years later. Anyway for $250 it seems priced a bit high for a quick sale, but a knowlegable buyer who wanted to add one to their collection of surplus rifles would probably pay that for one in really good shape even considering that it is missing the original magazine, but your average American "shooter" might not, especially considering how cheap Mosin's & their ammo are at the moment. But make no mistake about it IMHO Mosin's are bottom of the garbage barrel sludge compared to K31's, most folks however wouldn't know enough about them to know the difference though aside from price & ammo availibility/cost.

I love 590's but I hate side saddle shell carriers, if you have a bit of cash the Speedfeed stocks are well worth the coin IMHO, they keep the shells tucked out of the way, no snag potential, no slippage/loss of spare shells. Like with any unfamiliar system you will need to practice to get fast with it though, I usually keep my 590A1 loaded with 00 but I keep my Speedfeed stock loaded with slugs, that way I can slank in a slug anytime I might need to reach out without fumbling around in a pocket or bandaleer or belt shell carrier, etc. The Speedfeed stock does like shells with a nice deep ridge at the crimp though, so keep that in mind when selecting shells to use in it.
