I have a little plastic angle guide that goes on my dremel that I use when sharpening lawn mower blades & machettes, but I wouldn't ever use it to sharpen a knife.

Saddens & disappoints me that there are some folks out there that are even remotely interested in anything that that race-baiting POS has to say about anything.

I consider all firearms tools, regardless of how much they cost, their rarity, age or how pretty they are, but then again I'm not a "collector" either. Granted I'm not opposed to wall-hangers, display cases or safe queens, it's just that iffin I own them, I'm a going shooting with'em.

Well shame the Ruger wasn't in stock, the MK series is phenominal, one of those guns that everyone should own at least one of, I own a 10" stainless bull barrel MKII that'll "one ragged hole" @ 50yds all-day-long off bags (no exaggeration). But anyway congrats on your new Glock, of which I am also a fan of, great pistols, simple, reliable, accurate, not pretty but they get the job done!

I agree, MAK90's are definately under-rated in the AK community, mostly due to the awful ergonomics of the thumbhole stocks that Norinco/Polytech slapped on them in order to comply with the "sporting purpose" regulations. Once the thumbhole furniture is swapped out for American made 3 piece AK furniture they do have some features which sets them apart from most European made AK's, such as very good 2-stage trigger groups, thicker sheet-metal recievers, thicker diameter barrels & above average accuracy, especially when shooting good quality ammunition. IMHO they are fantastic AK variants, so I wouldn't hesitate to rely on one in a post-shtf scenario, so congratulations on the new to you MAK90 man.

When I was a kid I dreamed of being an astronaught & going to Mars would literally be a dream come true, but a non-returnable one-way trip would mean never being able to see or hug or spend time with my kids or grandkids again ... so I'll have to pass.

I've got a pair of Weedeater brand weedeaters, both of them are the "featherlite" models. The older one is an 18cc I've been using it for about 14 years & it has an enormous amount of hours of run-time on it, I used it around my property & also to regularly scalp (take the grass down to bare earth) a large RC (remote control) track. It finally started to loose compression last year (still starts right up and runs ok, it just doesn't have the power that it used to) so I bought another one, this newer one is 25cc & thankfully I have been just as pleased with it as I have been with the older one. In fact I've been thinking about what to do with my old weedeater's engine, I'm not sure if it would be worth rebuilding it or not since I only paid $79 at Walmart for it, but since it still starts & runs maybe I can make a little emergency generator or something out of it ... any ideas?

Yea, I was also very troubled by that as well as by the suspension of suspect #2's Miranda Rights for "public safety" reasons. The real crux of the problem is that the officer will probably not be repremanded at all, for any of his over-stepping of his authority. And unfortunately this sort of over-stepping of authority has become faily common these days, so common in fact that it is almost SOP (standard operating procedure).

Unfortunately it did appear (from the videos that have leaked out) homeowners were "forceably removed at gun point" from their homes, individually searched/patted down, then detained in the street while their homes were searched for suspect #2. It didn't appear that the homeowners even had time to voluntarily consent or refuse the warrantless door-to-door searches, because from what I saw on the video as soon as they answered the knock at their door they were forceably yanked out into the street at gunpoint.

The Bill of Rights was written for Dzhokar Tsarnaev
RichardR replied to East_TN_Patriot's topic in General Chat
I disagree. Since he is not a natural born citizen his citizenship should be considered conditional & steps should be immediately taken to have it "annulled" as if had never been granted in the first place. Granted I am not sure if this is possible under our current laws, but I would whole-heartedly support any potential future legislation making non-natural born citizenship conditional & revokable. Especially right now since there is such a huge push to grant amnesty/citizenship to ten(s) of million(s) of "undocumented, illegal/criminal, border jumpers" all of who's criminal backgrounds &/or even true identities are unknown. -
Anyone who has the desire to own a weapon? Seriously that seems to be their rational, IE only a crazy person would want to own a "murder machine"...

My brother likes his, but he doesn't shoot it all that often either & I haven't had the chance to play with it first-hand, so I am not sure how helpful this post is going to be. Anyway at their low price point it'd probably be worth gambling on, especially since its only going to be used as a field gun the potential of an occasional "hiccup" isn't going to cause you all that much grief.

Why bother measuring groups when your barrel hasn't even been shot near enough to have settled yet? I'd shoot another 50 through it before I started measuring groups.

What will be the rifle's intended purpose? (If any). You mentioned "wanting something in .308" but not any reasons why you were wanting something chambered in .308, the reason I ask is so I'd be able to give you better advice as to which rifle I believed would fufill your rifle's intended mission parameters the best. If it's just because you don't own one & would like to own one, than I'd just suggest that you get which ever one tickles your fancy the most.

Anti's to go after black and smokeless powder next...
RichardR replied to xjsnake's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Powder is a propellent not an actual explosive anyway, granted if the pressure of a burning propellent is captured & allowed to build up enough, it will "explode" but they are not one & the same. Heck pressurized air can "explode" if enough pressure is allowed to build up, should we also require background checks for scuba tanks & air compressors? Let's face it, the nanny state socialists aren't going to stop until the entire nation is wrapped in bubblewrap, biodegradeable, recycled, ecofriendly bubblewrap. -

Yup, knew this was coming the moment it was reported that those may have been the materials used. -
Sen. Feinstein: Private Gun Sales Play into Terrorists' Hands

Other than missing "marxist" you pretty much nailed it. -
Looks good man, congrats on the new Rover!

Well .50bmg's are skarry! So regardless of the fact that they're never used to commit crimes, they're too skarry to be legal! *sigh* we are quickly becoming a nanny state for hand-wringers & bed-wetters, instead of the land of the free, home of the brave ...

Meh, there is no harm in allowing LEO's to search a home if a homeowner voluntarily submits/consents to it. On the other side of the coin, there should also be no harm (or repercussions) in a homeowner denying/refusing such a request & asking for a warrant as the 4th requires. That is how it is supposed to work anyway ...

Unfortunately I have a feeling the ammunition situation is going to get even worse. This of course is speculation on my part but I do not see this administration walking away from "gun control" without a victory, even if it means an EO restricting the importation of either firearms, ammunition or both. That is something Obama believes is within his powers, the only thing that I believe makes him hesitant to issue it is the potential political blow-back from doing so. However with this latest defeat, he just might be willing to risk it.

One Bomber dead, his brother on the run
RichardR replied to Beretta Bob's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I think the bombers had planned to keep bombing/shooting/fighting/etc until they were killed, therefore they didn't bother taking precautions like wearing disguises or having an escape planned out. I don't believe that they had planned to be captured alive either, which hopefully will work in our favor, if they can get any useful intel out of the 19 year old before his attorney is able to step in & shut him up. Guess we will find out ... -
*shrug* the Ruger LCP sits easy on an ankle or disappears into a pocket, weighs almost nothing & the 7rds of .380ACP should be more than sufficient for the vast majority of SD scenarios.

One Bomber dead, his brother on the run
RichardR replied to Beretta Bob's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
If it was up to me he'd already be being waterboarded while on his way to Gitmo. But I highly doubt that is how this current administration & justice department will handle this. -

Even a crappy court appointed attorney woudn't allow that to happen.
