  1. You must be refering to specialty 5.56 fragnible ammo, typical FMJ 5.56 zips right through both interior & exterior walls.
  2. The physics of a sphere (as in a shotgun's round pellet) does not lend very well to penetration or even for "flight" for that matter. But hey I guess physics don't apply to some people. Anyway my 30ish some-odd years of shooting shotguns gives me vast amounts of confidence in a few things, first is their ability to dish aout a tremendous amount of trauma at close range with a single trigger stroke, this is especially true when using 00 buckshot. Second I am extremely familiar with how quickly fired shot, even the larger 00 buckshot runs out of energy, so even without the pellets expending energy penetrating any barriers I know that any shot fired out of one of my shotguns is less likely to reach my neighbors homes. Third is a pump shotgun's reliability, especially my Mossberg 590/500 series shotguns, I have been using them for years in some of the nastiest weather and conditions & they've never failed me. Fourth has to be the fact they (tube magazine shotguns) can be reloaded at anytime, ie: you can top them off by slanking in a shell or two during momentary lulls in the fighting, without having to take the weapon momentarily out of action by dropping the empty mag & reinserting another full one. Fifth, less lethal options ... rocksalt, beanbags, rubber balls, even 12g taser rounds are now availible. Granted the laws down here in TN are not favorable to homeowners employing less lethal options, seems like they'd rather you use regular buckshot iffin "deadly force is justified" or you'll be charged or something because by using less lethal options "deadly force couldn't have possibly been justified". (What's the deal with this btw?) Sixth again has to do with being wrongfully charged, a homeowner employing a shotgun for home defense is not unusual or scary, however a lot of folks, especially ones who tend to vote democrat ... be they responding or investigating officers, district attornies, potential jurors, could believe that only military/police should own "assault weapons" & a civilian who dares to use one obviously did so because they were looking for an excuse to use it. As silly as that sounds to us, some folks do actually believe that sort of nonsense, anyway out of time for now.
  3. There are plenty of choices in shorter lengthed semi-auto .22LR's on the market, but not so many choices availible in 10" barrels besides the Ruger MK series. But don't get me wrong, they are awesome shooters regardless of barrel length but when you couple the MK series action with a big long bull barrel they are some serious tack drivers.
  4. Yup every time I hear one of those rap/country songs I just think "wow, these guys really suck" haven't heard a single one that was even remotely interesting or well thought-out, let alone was actually a "good tune"...
  5. Shotguns own CQB, no if's, &'s, or but .. but .. but's, about it.
  6. Bloody population purges are the historical communist modus operendi, can it happen here? Absolutely, will it happen here? Dunno.
  7. That fact that it was even an issue to begin with was the problem.
  8. I'm actually not all that shocked or surprised, "the left" has been trying to brainwash our youth to literally pee in their pants trembling in fear at the mere thought of anything that remotely resembles a firearm. So this over-reactionary type thing is right up that alley so to speak.
  9. I've never had any problems or issues with any of the Taurii that I've owned over the years, I still prefer S&W's (especially the older pre-lock, pinned & recessed ones) but if budget is an issue a Taurus will get the job done.
  10. It's not a bluff, it's the future. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but soon.
  11. Well from reading some of the coments about this issue on leftist forums such as Huffington Post & Democratic Underground they (the left) are not finished pushing/slandering/intimidating/suing the BSA & BSA sponsers until the BSA allows "openly gay adult leaders" to participate in scouting.
  12. My first was a Ruger Bearcat, that my dad gave me in the mid 70's, wish I kept hold of it, was a great size for youngsters & would had been a good heirloom piece had I given any thought to that sort of thing back then.

    What!!

Doesn't surprise me at all, it was only a matter of time before "hate speech" became a matter for law enforcement. I knew it as soon as the communist subversive scum in this country invented the term & started slapping down any speech they disagreed with, with it. Of course "thought crimes" such as racism & bigotry, etc will also soon be illegal too. Just a matter of time.
  14. Welp considering that you've dismissed, discounted &/or ignored every single thing that I've had to say about this issue, I really don't see the point in continuing our conversation. I'd been more than happy to have continued to discuss the issue, had it not felt like a complete waste of my time.
  15. Welp the problem is who this current administration considers a threat, it's not the jihadi's it's law-abiding, patriotic American gun owners (well at least the conservative, capitalist, caucasion, Christian, hetrosexual, male gendered ones that is). I am not sure if I should be proud of that fact or whether I should be afraid of being targeted by the IRS, FBI, BATFE, etc, I guess we'll have to wait & see how bold the communist usurpers, supporters & sympathizers ultimately get.

I second those suggestions, if you still cannot find the part at any of the above places you can try Winchester service dept http://www.winchesterguns.com/customerservice/partsservice/parts-info.asp
  17. Mossberg Maverick 88's seem to be universally liked, I've never owned a Maverick but I've owned a lot of Mossbergs & wouldn't hesitate to buy another, even the more budget friendly 88 is well built by all accounts I've seen or heard. Congrats on your new shotgun, now go slank some 00 into her & test er out!
  18. Meh, I only have so much free time & I addressed the most pertinent part of your previous post. You should already know what traditional moral values are & what the moral core foundation of Scouting was, if you honestly don't know, than that is probably why you support openly gay Scouts. Simply put, moral relativism & homosexuality are diametrically opposed w/the values taught in Scouting. I don't know what personal experience you have with the scouting program but I have been involved in scouting since the mid 1970's, first as a cubscout, weblow, boyscout, venture crewmember, eagle scout, as an explorer scout & finally as the adult troop master of my old scout troop. Our scout troop's host organization is a United Methodist Church, most of the membership of our scout troop consists of the congregation's children and we hold all of our meetings & store our troops gear in the church's annex & hold our troop ceremonies in the chapel. At the end of 2010, (the most recent data I could find) the United Methodist Church’s involvement with Scouting included: 235,672 Cub Scouts from 5,136 packs 127,419 Boy Scouts from 5,005 troops 8,408 Venturers from 1,146 crews I do not know what the United Methodist Church or other large denominations will ultimately decide to do about the recent BSA decision but many parents & volunteer leaders have already started to withdraw from the Scouting program. We teach scouts moral & ethical absolutes, these things can not be "wishy-washy" or "situational" not if you are trying to build a strong moral/ethical character. And building strong moral character is the foundation of Scouting, not the ancillary activities like knot-tying or fire-starting, or first-aid or camping. Can openly gay homosexuals be of strong moral character? Supporters of their cause will certainly claim that they can be, however that is like claiming that anyone, regardless of who they are or what sin's they regularly commit or regardless of how someone lives their life can be of strong moral character. It doesn't work like that.
  19. Moral relativism does not belong in Scouting, the two are diametrically opposed, or at least they used to be. Of course folks who's moral compass is broken can't seem to (or simply refuse to) comprehend how/why traditional morality & family values are so important to our society, or why it is so important for us to teach them to each new generation. Of course this is Amerika 2.0 & we do things differently now, don't we eh comrade?
  20. You have it backwards. It's the homosexual activists & their supporters such as yourself, who've been forcing acceptance their immorals on to the BSA & it's host organizations.
  21. Yikes! Apparently a lot of Justice 4 Trayvon folks these days suffer from "the ends justifies the means" syndrome. Zimmerman's being rail-roaded, I am absolutely convinced of that now.
  22. It's not a right or wrong answer, nor is the equasion's answer infallable & absolute like in mathmatics. People can also be right, for the wrong reasons, or wrong for the right reasons. The question that the BSA faced was "what was best for the Scouting program?" 1.) Contine fighting a loosing battle against the homosexual activists? Or .. 2.) Surrender their values morals & principals and vote to modify membership policy to allow openly gay boys to become members. Either way traditional Scouting is lost, at least this way maybe the kids who do remain in the program will be able to make use of public land & facilities again. But the "moral core foundation" of the Scouting program has been forever corrupted. Which was probably the whole intention behind the opposition to begin with, there will not be some sort of massive wave of openly gay boys joining the Scouts who had been waiting all of their lives to participate in Scouting. Sadly the opposite is much more likely, ie a massive wave of devote Christian children will probably abandon the Scouting program. Right, wrong, doesn't matter, the damage has been done, another once great traditional American institution is taken down by subversives.
