There is no "maybe" about it. If someone had you pinned & was violently bashing your head against the sidewalk you wouldn't *think* about *maybe* shooting them, you would instantly do what ever was in your power to do in order to keep your brain-bucket from being smashed open.

I fail to see how someone lawfully taking classes, be they MMA, karate, judo, or even handgun/firearm defensive courses, etc would have any bearing on their guilt or innocence. Using those skills to "unlawfully" physically assault someone than potentially they could be relevant , however Trayvon had no injuries to suggest Zimmerman assaulted Trayvon, in fact there is no evidence or testimony that Zimmerman was even able to swing in defense of himself at all before during or after being attacked, knocked to the ground & his head beaten against the sidewalk.

Due to all of the national coverage & wide-spread racial outrage (which is mostly fabricated IMHO) it certainly has the potential to be nationwide event, depending on how severe and wide-spread the rioting looting & racially motivated attacks on innocent "white/hispanic" people will probably determine this nation's future, one way or another. Let's hope & pray everyone behaves themselves and all of this "chatter" is nothing more than manufactured bluster and bullshit bravado.

Well all of the assorted gangs, black panthers & nation of islam, etc, etc, are already organized, have means of funding themselves through their illicite activities, and are of course already armed, sadly even some of them are former soldiers, some even have combat experiance. If they decide to "go to war" the authorities would be hard-pressed to contain them even if the authorities wanted too, especially if they "go to war" during chaos that the unorganized mobs would be creating in the aftermath of a not guilty verdict. If any significantly sized groups of "white people" attempted to organize, for any reason, in a militia-like fashion, they would be targeted by the authorities and the media, especially by this administration & justice department. Every alphabet agency in the nation would come down on them HARD prehaps even go so far as to plant/manufacture evidence/charges to bring down the group. God forbid there was another actual Civil War in this country, the authorities would undoubtedly be guaranteed to be on the "wrong side" of it, even if the aggressors were comitting atrocities & the defenders were just trying to protect their families.

I can't imagine any sort of sane person voluntarily doing a safari of sorts like that, lawfully carrying a firearm doesn't guarantee a person's safety, it just levels the playing field a little.

Unfortunately all of my reloading stuff is in storage & I can't cite the exact amounts of each powder/recipes from memory at the moment but I typically load two variations of each .38spl & .357 mag one for target (148gr WC + accurate #5), and one for self defense (125gr JHP + accurate #9). The two different loads one w/#5, the other #9 are essentially identical for each of the parent cases, the Accurate #5 +148gr WC's are fairly mild but very accuate, with the Accurate #9 + 125gr JHP's being middle ground SD/HD loads (essentially a hot .38spl +P pressures) that work well out of all of my guns chambered in either .38 or .357 I experimented with just using Accurate #5 for everything & it worked fairly well but I save a bit of money using less of the #9 than with just dropping a little more of the #5 Anyway speaking of cost saving, I also had very good results using Nitro 100 & Alliant Promo + 148gr WC's granted these are both shotgun powders but I was looking for ways to save money while producing large quantities of very accurate target loads. The downside is the shotgun powders are a bit dirtier, but the cost savings is substantial if you shoot a lot of .38/.357 on a regular basis.

Welp the whole "all crackers are guilty & all blacks are victims" mentality is the basic premise of black liberation theology, which unfortunately has become more & more mainstream thinking the last few years thanks to the bump it received from Barry/Barrak being a follower of it. It is essentially Marxism with a racial twist, ie: white people are the oppressors, blacks & other minorities are the oppressed, the solution is to collapse/destroy the entire oppressive political & economic infrastructure of the entire oppresssive system, all of it, so that it can be rebuilt anew. I've seen the damage "chicano liberation theology" has done in South America, if black liberation is successful here I fully expect the similar results in this country, it is a very hateful & extremely destructive ideology that pits a nations people against each other. It works the same as Marxism, by promising the "have nots" what the "haves" have, which as you can imagine is popular within the "have nots" not so popular with the "haves". "Social Justice" as demonstrated in this Justice for Trayvon Circus is a central part of black liberation theology that is the only reason I bothered to delve into it at all in this thread.

NRA accurately nailed his portrayal of the witness's speech & demeanor, maybe you had not read any of her twitter tweets, but some of us knew what to expect when she took the stand. Purposely butchering the english language is not an "accent" or even "accidental" in case you haven't been paying attention the last 30 some-odd years in certain demographic subcultures in this country the speaking of proper english is what is refered to as "acting/talking white". That is a serious social faux-pas in some circles, but it is the most prominently enforced/embraced in the ghetto community, which discourges it's young people from "acting/talking white" limiting their potential future career choices. As Links wrongly asserted this is how "black people speak" which is not entirely true as not all/only black people speak this way, nor is ghetto-speak limited to only blacks, as there are plenty of hispanics, asians, cacausions, etc have adopted the whole ghetto life-style & mentality, along with that speach. Regonal/national/cultural accents are one thing, this purposely manufactured & voluntarily practiced ghetto-speak is another & IMHO anyone engaging in &/or encouraging it says a lot about the content of that person's character & absolutely nothing about the color of their skin.

Yea, seems to me an apology or two might be in order. I found it very interesting that she testified that Trayvon used the racial slur "creepyass cracker" to describe Zimmerman to her just prior to Trayvon's ambushing/assaulting Zimmerman. If this is true, does that make Zimmerman the victim of a "hate crime"?

My bantams laying slowed down more than my RIR's & RS's, my grandpaw used to keep barred plymouth rocks and they layed almost as good as my RS's did in the winter months. I had a under-coop run though & that helped w/production in colder months, they still had enough shelter down there that I could open the under-coop ramp during day light hours, granted the snow would bank up on it but because I used a small sized mesh the under-coop run would remain relatively snow free (for the most part anyway). The coop itself was of course insulated & heated, but exposure to real day-light helps them lay better than artificial light I think (at least that's the conclusion I've come too).

Hey DaveS, quick question for you man. During the witness testimony yesterday the officer coordinating the NHW program said that she asked Zimmerman to join a special doohicky dealy-dad where he'd get to use a civilian, but market vehicle to patrol the neighborhood in as well as & a semi-official uniform, designating him as a civilian patrol officer. According to her Zimmerman declined her offer of the vehicle & uniform, doesn't that seem odd if in fact Zimmerman was a "wanna-be cop" as you kept relentlessly asserting? Wouldn't Zimmerman voluntarily turning down all of those "cop-wanna-be" goodies suggest that maybe you had the guy pegged wrongly?

As long as someone is home to receive the package there is nothing wrong with ordering online, in fact they typically toss in a few additional "packing peanuts" just in case one or two doesn't survive, that's typically how they get to places like Rural King & Tractor Supply & places like that anyway ...

another option for you left-handers is the AR57 (or a 5.7mm upper conversion) they use P90 magazines that slap into the upper & eject the spent casings through the AR's lower magwell.

TimeStepper, Winters down here are a lot shorter & much milder than they are up in Indiana, so that probably makes it a little easier on the chickens to keep laying year round. I'll have to remember to take that into account when I build another coop & run, since I don't have to worry about sub-zero temps & snow piling up several feet and such. My current house is within city limits though so it'll have to wait til I can move out to the out-skirts.

We really enjoy pickled eggs too, delicious little bastedeggs that's for sure. I like using bantam eggs because I can fit more of them in each jar & honestly the bantam eggs aren't the best eggs to use for traditional uses like ingrediants in recipes or even breakfast stuff like served sunny-side, over-easy, omelettes or scambled because it takes so darn many of them, they are much better suited for making bite-sized hard boiled &/or pickled eggs IMHO. Besides my bantams were never really great layers, sure they laid overy other day fairly regularly but not as regular as my standard sized breeds, and not anywhere near as good as my Red Star hybrids used to, which laid an egg a day every day even when other breeds slowed down, even through the winter months!.
