Men are from Mars, Women are from from Venus story...
RichardR replied to BigK's topic in General Chat
Haahahhalarious! absolutely a perfect example, oddly enough I'm actually co-authoring a book with my youngest daughter while she's down here on spring-break (just for fun) and we are having very similar issues so I can totally relate to those two's frustrations w/each other hahahahhaaa! I have got to show this to her, she probably won't think its as funny as I did though! -
Zimmerman Juror to Write Book About Trial
RichardR replied to xjsnake's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Her family was also threatened with rape & murder in several hundred tweets (I didn't bother to actually count them all, but they seemed almost endless, more & more & more kept being tweeted while I was trying to scroll through them all). -
Stevie Wonder won't sing in any state with stand your ground laws

Good reads, thanks Leroy. Unfortunately it brings up the ole' "those facts are racist, the system is racist, he's a racist, she's a racist, they are racist, everything is racist, open your mouth and disagree and you're a racist too!" problem though and if we as a nation are not even allowed/able to discuss the problem, honestly, openly, without fear of being labeled as the worstest person ever & without blowing off people who disagree as "racists" with a wave of their oh-so-tolerant hand, we will never be able to agree on anything enough to actually formulate a viable solution to it. I won't pretend to know the answer to everything, but I think that a good start would be a mass-quelling all of the childish & counter-productive labeling & name-calling so that adults can have a conversation without those sorts of interuptions. -
Welp all coolers are not created equal, I am not a member of any cooler forums but I do have about a dozen different coolers of all sorts of various sizes, age, materials & design of construction. The newest of the bunch is a 62 quart wheeled Coleman Xtreme, which keeps ice ice for a good solid week of summer-temps camping, price was really reasonable too ($60ish) considering the size, features & how well/long it keeps everything cold.

I'll see your Engelbert Humperdinck & raise you Tom Jones, I just hope your not holding Bert Bacharach in your hand ... -
Meh you can shoot the snot out of it for 5 generations in a row & it'll still probably feed & function just fine, we used to run them extremely hard when the surplus ammo was super-cheap getting the barrels red hot, wood smoking up catching fire, until they started to "cook off" rounds by themselves, they are built so tough it never hurt them at all. Wish I'd kept hold of the ones I had, they were lots of cheap fun.

I've got a few .22LR's (both rifles & pistols) that are compact & lightweight which I often take backpacking, I am not personally an .22LR "survival advocate" though, as the advantages outweigh the disadvantages IMHO when surivial depends on keeping yourself/family fed w/enough calories not just to sustain each person's life, but to provide enough energy to preform constant, heavy, physical labor required to survive during the event. That means being able to kill & eat everything that walks, runs, crawls, hops, swims or fly's, that you come across and a .22LR is simply not the best tool for that. I can pretty much kill everything with a shotgun, heck I've even "fished" with a shotgun before, it was just for shits & giggles at first, but I quickly realized that a single blast, fired just above (but not below, doing so would cause back-pressure in the barrel & that would be bad) water level will cause the concussion to stun & float multiple fish of all sorts of sizes, basically any random fish in the immediate area of the blast. Works sort of like fishing with dynamite or cherry bombs (hahhahaha hello NSA guys/gals) but is more limited since you have to be careful not to spook the fish prior to squeezing one off, since you are literally having to stand at the end of a dock or over the side of a boat, etc.

Agreed NPgunner. There was a time where it was almost mandatory to spend a small fortune to get a decent, hard-use, compact yet bright light but thankfully Cree technology is everywhere these days, even the Walmarts stock plenty of useable quality, inexpensive choices at unheard of pricing compared to 10-15 years ago from specialty manufacturers.

Zimmerman/Martin- race reversal.
RichardR replied to Chucktshoes's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Yes, yes it is. It's not a new tactic either, Machiavelli details this particular political practice in "The Prince" but also warns of the potential risks & consequences if it is not done with a light-hand. One of the factions (typically the weaker or loosing side) will almost always side with an enemy invading force, or they will work to subvert a Prince's rule (if the Princes involvement is discovered) it could even foment violence, even out-right civil war if it snowballs. I personally think it's snowballing, perhaps even being purposely snowballed, a much larger calamity is sure to follow either way. -
I've been using a Coleman MAX Cree for a couple of years, bought it for $24 at Walmart as a temporary replacement until I could order another Surefire G2, I was pleasently surprised after getting it home & it's been both bright enough & rugged enough that I've never bothered to get another Surefire when the Coleman has been such a great little light. The Coleman does fit a little loose (its a little smaller in size) in my leather Desantis belt flashlight/aerosol pouch/holster, but thankfully it does have a snap flap cover so it keeps it in the pouch/holster just fine, even if the Coleman is a tad loose in there. It's been awhile since I bought the Desantis but I do believe it was more expensive than the Coleman was, LOL go figure eh?

Yup, and not to mention the fact that the only reason for stand your ground for existing is to protect people who have otherwise lawfully defended themselves or their families from a "must retreat" or "should have retreated" requirement, that was completely bogus from the beginning. It was/is bogus because it allowed the MMQBing of the incident with the highly popular hypothetical "what if's" scenarios everyone seems so fond of using, a perfect example as in the Zimmerman should have stayed in the truck asshattery, essentually turning a self-defense scenario into a cold blooded murder based on something that DIDN'T HAPPEN but what they believe could/should have happened ... which is completely contradictory to a case presented/judged based on facts & evidence, not speculation &/or hypothesis. -
The outlawing of, or at least making a pariah out of anyone who dares employ a bit of common sense is necessary in order to "fundamentally transform" America. into it's new & improved 2.0 version. No tin foil required, as only someone of Osterich-American ancestry would deny it at this point.

Where is Joe Biden? Iffin I had to guess, he's probably off somewhere eating cheap tacos bothering the hell out of whomever is unfortunate to have been sitting next to him. At least I hope that's what he's doing & he's not in his office actually performing the important duties of his job.

Bewarned though Dave I am an expert nerf swordsman, I'm certain my cane skills would be equally as deadly!

I honestly don't think he'd like to be wacked with my walking cane, it's tipped with a large brass hame & would probably hurt ... a lot.

That is the problem with paritisanism, it blinds its participants to seeing any other viewpoint or opinion as being "acceptable" (not saying your guilty of it, just using your comments as a jumping off point to further the discussion). In this instance with TMF he believes that its "hateful" to oppose gay-marriage, even though my position is based in my knowledge of all of the potential social ramifications not on an emotion such as "hatred" &/or "fear". The potential social ramifications far outweight the benefit of redefining traditional marriage, especially when there are viable alternatives already in practice that provide the same benefit without the social ramifications. Yet, that is "hateful" to suggest, makes absolutely no sense unless you understand Saul Alinsky & why some folks have been indoctronated to believe that way.

I used to feel the same way, but the veil has been lifted from my eyes so to speak, sadly I believe that the venomous partisan rancor that is infecting the rest of America has seeped into our little forum..
-
You just made my point for me. I cannot believe your account hasn't been suspended yet.

Propaganda 101, demonize the opposition in order to minimize the validity of their counter-arguements. "Hate" is the current vehicle for that, if someone claims your position comes from an emotional deep hatred (racism, bigotry, homophobia), that then your opinion/position/arguement has absolutely no validity, they don't care if their accusation is true or not, because their ends justifies their means. I'm really disgusted to see some of my fellow TGO'ers resorting to Saul Alinsky tactics in our discussions & doing so with absolutely no shame what so ever.

Bicycling is really good for that, I started riding regularly again as part of my physical rehab to work my lower body & get a bit of cardio, I also started canoeing more regularly to work my upper body without stressing on my spine. I did have to swap out my Mongoose mountain bike's saddle for a big ole' soft-gel after-market "tractor seat" because the hard plastic factory seat I was in agony after about 10-15 minutes of riding, with the tractor seat I can ride all-day at a medium pace and my spine will only be somewhat sore. I dig them ole' 7-speed Schwinns though, you should post up a pic!

Making baseless accusations while refusing to provide evidence is about as sketchy as sketchy gets. I sniff the foul odor of impuging the opposition out of retribution.
