  1. The stock market is legalized gambling whereas paying down your mortgage is a guaranteed 3% - 5% (depending upon your interest rate and whether you itemize your taxes) return...you can't get that kind of return on any savings account. There's also a financial peace associated with having your house paid off.
  2. She did a great job. I wonder if her repeating "home of the brave" at the end was planned or if she did it to sync with the flyover? Either way, it was a great finish.
  3. Interesting...thanks for posting.
  4. +1 I've never seen so many $3000 Winchester lever actions and $2500 Colt 1911's in one place. I beleive a lot of the people at this show treat it more like an opportunity to show off their collection than to sell stuff.
  5. Love those hi powers!
  6. Was real slow there today (Sun.), but there was excitement when some idiot threw some type of explosive device out of a car driving around the far side of the pond...sounded like tannerite going off..it shook the ground...was definitely bigger than any store-bought firecracker. I was standing outside. People came out of the building to see what it was.
  7. The media giving credence to these types of questions/comments are exactly what leads administrations to implement Intrusive policies. No administrator wants a camera or microphone stuck in their face and, with the benefit of hindsight, asked why they didn't do more.
  8. No way they'll be able to stay in that typical suburban house...they'll need acreage if they want to step out into the yard and they'll need fence/gates/security to keep the crazies off of their front porch. The fact that they don't realize this is a testament to their naivety and lack of competent counsel.   Edit:  Actually, without knowing the whole story, it could be unfair to call their counsel incompetent...he may have been pleading with them not to go public but they insisted on their 15 minutes of fame and were going to do it with or without him,
  9. And you're not hearing anything about these attacks in the mainstream media...doesn't fit their agenda.
  10. +1 Thinking the same for my teenagers...I've seen too many parties in the neighborhood when parents were away. I'll be exploring these suggestions.
  11. Any smart technology would require a battery to power the intelligence, so you'd have to make sure that you have a charged battery before you could fire it. Like my emergency flashlights that sit around for months, if not years, before I need them, the battery would certainly be dead when I need it.
  12. Yep, I wanna see it also.
  13. Welcome to the south!
  14. Can't beat ORSA for bang-for-the buck. There are enough ranges at ORSA so there is always somewhere to shoot ...you can always find room on the plinking range or the benchrest range or the competition range, but there are caliber restrictions on some of them so you just need to take a few different guns with you to make sure that you'll have something that you can shoot on any range.  I've been a member for 3 yrs and have never had to wait on a shooting position out there, but i typically go on weekday afternoons...probably more crowded on weekends. You can come and go as you please during daylight hours...don't have to check-in with anyone except maybe on the skeet and indoor pistol ranges (indoor pistol range is not always open). They are raising the rate in 2016...to $140 or $150 its seems...can't remember exactly.
  15. True dat.  Plus, market-driven prices will fall when the market demands it whereas taxes never go down.
  16. Please do not even think about refinishing anything on that historic rifle.
  17. The bayonet was made by Utica Cutlery...nice.
  18. Looks like well-worn original bluing, as opposed to the parkerization that was typically applied during post-war refurbishment of these rifles.
  19. Looks like original finish as well.
  20. Nice! The Dept of the Army flaming bomb was cool...wouldn't see anything like that today. Like the cartouche stamps on the side of the wooden stocks. Almost 100 yrs old. Thanks for sharing.
  21. Theatrical overreactions...definitely staged.
  22. I'm one...but haven't received anything from JD in years. They used to send out stuff almost yearly it seemed.
  23. Woo-Hoo...awesome! Great Christmas present. Thanks.
  24. This. I have cash "gun money" that I fund with a little cash out of each paycheck, and once I get the purchase into the safe I'm home free.
  25. And the fact that she gets airtime to voice her selfish opinion is one of the problems in this country.
