  1. Great article. I like the flowery language that was typical of journalism at the time. I'm not sure that the Garand ended up being the effective anti-aircraft sidearm that they predicted, though. Thanks for sharing.
  2. LMAO. Great!
  3. Went to the fair tonight (fri., 9/9) and there were no metal detectors, wanding, patting, or frisking. There was a KPD officer at the gate and I think I saw them searching a lady's bag but not sure. Was the usual entertaining crowd...always fun to people-watch there.
  4. And he tailgates the truck in front of him...what an idiot. Also compare the amount of rubber that the motorcycles have on the pavement compared to the bike...he's on the thin edge.
  5. I've never heard of a FN49...but now I want one. Nice! Thanks for sharing.
  6. Tell that to the kids that got expelled from school under the school district's zero tolerance firearms policy for playing with airsoft guns in their own yard simply because there was a school bus stop adjacent to their property. Was in the news a year or two ago. Just goes to show that you never know what can happen when "it's to protect the children".

    Too much

    In my prayers.
  8. I've bought two Knox County Sheriffs Office (KCSO) Crown Vics at auction in the last year. I call them the best kept secret in used cars...a helluva lotta car for the money. I've also looked at some of the Knoxville Police Dept. cars but they seem to be in a lot worse shape. KCSO seems to take good care of theirs. The "Performance White" paint is notorious for peeling so you'll see a lot of that. You definitely need to inspect them before you bid because they vary greatly. I've got a nice 2007 that's for sale. KCSO sells theirs on GovDeals.com.
  9. Day-um...18 cents/rnd for .40... I knew I shouldn't have started reloading.
  10. In the Rockwood incident they were supposed to be shooting blanks but live ammo somehow ended up in the gun. Why is live ammo allowed anywhere in the vicinity of where these simulations are occurring!? Every gun, ammo belt, mag pouch, pocket, etc. should be emptied and checked before entering the area...there should be no live ammo even allowed on the property.
  11. Awesome! Thanks to TGO and the donors.
  12. Merry Christmas...and thanks to whoever is making it possible.
  13. Yes, that is a very good article. Thanks for posting.
  14. A lot of good points...I can't say that I disagree with any of them, but they will fall on deaf ears. The politicians just want our guns, they aren't concerned about inner city crime.
  15. The cop was wise to put that distance between himself and the thug...I guess that's what they are trained to do because he immediately established distance when the thug pulled the knife.
  16. Not only did a Thunderbird and Blue Angel both crash today, but it was also the No. 6 plane in both cases...amazing coincidence. And yes, a raised glass is in order.
  17. You probably already have your answer, but just in case (per my online subscription, which is supposed to be current values): 100%: $1006 95%: $633 90%: $546 i hope this helps
  18. This. It's not about reducing crime, it's about disarming the people...they simply use crime as the reason to do it.
  19. Lots of good info here...thanks. It also demonstrates how it often depends upon the particular authority person's beliefs regarding the rules as to whether you'll get hassled. I assume MC means motorcycle?
  20. "He suggested it is strange that a person has to show ID to buy cold medicine but not ammunition." So let's use one stupid law to justify another.
  21. +1 To say that she needs a better gun will probably be taken as an insult by her husband, possibly causing him to defend his decision, establishing a position that he will stick to in order to save face in front of his wife. Let them decide that she needs a better gun.
  22. Hoods Handyman Service did some work for me that included excavation, concrete, block, and brick work...they do carpentry also...I'd use them again. They get pretty good reviews on AngiesList.
  23. The Gander Mountain in Turkey Creek has a cabinet labeled "Primers", but I don't reload so I've never looked inside of it. Was there as recently as last week (2/28/16).
  24. Welcome back. You've come to the right place...both geographically and informationally.
  25. I wonder why so many of them are missing their grips?
