Sad to hear this. Love his “Old Dogs and Children” song. “The bartender was watching Ironsides on tv”…that line is lost on anyone younger than the age of about 50. I believe it was based on a real experience that he had. Heard him on a radio interview a few years ago and he had a lot of interesting stories.

Let’s discuss rechargeable flashlight batteries & chargers
i1afli replied to DaveTN's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
If you’re dropping them into a flashlight then you’ll need the button tops else they won’t make contact with each other. The flat tops are designed for soldiering connectors onto. The 18650’s are 3.6v each, compared to 1.5v for alkalines, so a flashlight with a couple of 18650’s puts out a hell of a beam. The only thing I don’t like about the rechargeable lithium batteries is they give you no warning before shutting off at the low voltage limit…no gradual dimming like other batteries. -
I paid $90 for a Rohm 10 .22 at a gun show around 2010 or so. I had never heard of them. It never failed to fire but it did shave lead that you could feel hitting your hand. That was the first time I experienced that and it took me a while to figure out what was going on. Sold it to another unfortunate soul for the same amount ($90) a couple of years later. Felt lucky about it.

Different brand but these are similar to what I had installed. I was concerned that anything added to catch the water would also catch leaves, etc., and I’d be right back where I started.

I installed the flat aluminum perforated guards about 3 years ago and they work well except in locations on my house where a high water velocity coming down the roof will wash right over the guard without going into the gutter. These are places where the roof is steep or where a downspout from a dormer or higher section of roof empties onto a lower roof. And I have the larger (6” or 8”, I don’t remember) gutters. In those locations I went back to the wire guards like in your photo. And I’m in W. Knox as well and used All About Gutters and was happy with them. You can Google them.

Went out at lunch today (5/11) and the station down the street was out of regular unleaded...had only premium. Pumps were busy. And it’s just Tuesday.

That bear’s not a very good hunter...it just kept grabbing the back of the boar’s neck. A big cat would have gone right for the throat and choked him out.

Any of you hi-power folks remove the mag safety, a common mod., to improve trigger feel? (And I hope this isn’t considered a thread hi-jack...the OP is, in his own words, looking for an education on the Hi-Power).

BP, thanks for following up and letting us know what you ended up doing.

3 killed after fight over shoveling snow
i1afli replied to Erik88's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
The husband and wife were feeding off of each other’s bravado. When the husband first walked back to their house the wife went back to shoveling the sidewalk, but then the husband decided to give the neighbor another dose of bravado, which he very well may not have done if his wife wasn’t present, and the wife stopped shoveling and went with him. The husband and wife both felt invincible based upon the other’s actions, or neither wanted to back down in front of the other. The neighbor finally snapped from the demeaning verbal assaults and threats from the husband as the husband was a BIG boy that could dish it out. The adult equivalent of the meek child that feels all alone against the playground bully that keeps taking his lunch money until he finally snaps and hits the bully in the head with a big rock. -
Yeah, she’s definitely putting herself out there and making a statement...we need more like her. Something else in the article that I found interesting was the statement “As members mulled a firearms ban during committee hearings...”, why would members of the House Natural Resources committee being mulling a gun ban? Although I guess every committee in Washington with Democrats on it is probably mulling gun bans.

Nice little .32. And the heirloom connection makes it even more special.

Day-um! Yep, “monster” pretty much describes it. I bet that was fun. Congrats!

Randall (OP), I don’t know where you’re located in E. Tn. but it’s hard to beat ORSA for value and amenities.

The difference is that the Polish ladies will actually let you know when they see something happening on you property.

If this happens then taxes, licensing/permit requirements, waiting periods, no mail order....effectively won’t be able to buy it at any price.

Review of Vehicle Gunfighting Fundamentals
i1afli replied to A.J. Holst's topic in Training Discussions
Wow, that’s interesting. Never would have expected one of these classes to include shooting from your own car. Sounds like a great way to make a “dry run” of what it may be like. Thanks.- 8 replies

Mother loses leg after getting shot in the leg
i1afli replied to ironsniper1's topic in General Chat
Maybe her insurance wouldn’t cover the restorative surgery and physical therapy so the most cost effective approach for the hospital was amputation. Whats the old saying?...tell a surgeon he can amputate and he’ll spend the night before the surgery sharpening his best saw, but tell him amputation is not an option and he’ll spend it sharpening his best scalpel. -
Personal Self Defense Encounters?
i1afli replied to Dennis1209's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
The result of a 20-yr crusade by the anti-gunners and media to demonize firearms and those who own them. Their plan is coming together.
