Woe be unto you if you give Frontier Firearms negative feedback
i1afli replied to East_TN_Patriot's topic in General Chat
I've stopped going to Frontier due to their lack of used guns and the attitude. I went in there looking for .22 WRF ammo for my old Winchester 1890. They didn't have any and they started loudly teasing me...laughing and saying things like "they don't even make that anymore" and "good luck finding any of that". So I gave up on trying to support their local business and I've ordered all of the WRF I want online from Cabelas and had it shipped right to my door. -
Been using this one for about two years and love it. The remote allows u to check and adjust the temperature from inside the house. http://www.walmart.com/ip/Masterbuilt-30-Electric-Smoker-with-Window/16328755

CMP has HXP with clips and bandoliers in spam cans
i1afli replied to LCPfraTN's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
I received mine. Order two cans and they'll come in a genuine surplus wooden ammo crate. -
In Knoxville, if you want anything old, you have to scour pawn shops as the local gun shops are almost exclusively modern black plastic guns. We have nothing like Franklin Gunshop...probably a good thing as I'd be broke.

Nice! I have one that is worn down practically to silver finish and the writing on it is barely legible but it still performs flawlessly.

Check pawn shops.

My 15 yr old son introduced me to this phrase about 6 months ago...he thinks it's the coolest thing.

States Where College Campus Carry Legal
i1afli replied to 300winmag's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
The problem with a college campus is that it's not always clear when you're "on campus". I'm not even sure what that means. Thanks for the info. -
And when you cancel your Comcast service and don't return "their" modem (because you don't have one), they will send you a bill for $100 for "their" modem (that you don't have) and when you refuse to pay for "their" modem (that you don't have) they will turn "the matter" over to a collection agency that will call you several times a day saying that you owe $100 for "their" modem (which you don't have) and that your credit rating is about to be ruined due to failure to return "their" equipment (which you dont have). This is what they did to me.

Where to find a Mosin 91/30
i1afli replied to East_TN_Patriot's topic in Curio, Relics and Black Powder
Personal Defense Options, located at G&A Equipment off of Watt Road in W. Knox has some M44 Mosins. -
And that will start a whole new adventure that will make you hate them even more.

This seems to be a growing trend...let the public vote on controversial issues like alcohol sales, abortion, gambling, public pensions...the list goes on. The whole idea behind the 3 branches of government to provide a balance of power is to prevent the will of the majority from infringing upon the rights of the minority. This is completely negated when rights are put up for vote...after all it's the "will of the people".

If mail ordering i'd go with Service Grade...you're guaranteed a nice rifle. But since you're in Chattanooga you really should drive down to Anniston and handpick your rifle. They've been having some Field Grades lately and you can sometimes find them close to Service Grade quality. The Field Grades are also a little more likely to have original WWII barrels and/or stocks...they may not be as pretty but will still shoot just fine for plinking and informal target shooting. I really like looking through the Rack Grades when they have them...talk about guns with a been-there-done-that patina....love'em. But whatever you do, just GET DOWN THERE NOW!

Illinois school workbook changes the 2nd Amendment.
i1afli replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
This doesnt really make sense, unless they want kids to believe that registering guns prevents them from being taken away. And that is probably want they are trying to do so the kids will go home and tell their dads that registering guns is good because that will keep the government from taking them. Indoctrinate them young. -
Technically TVA doesn't allow target shooting on their land so you would be doing it at risk. Back in the late 1980s and early 1990s there were a thousand or so acres of TVA land around Watts Bar Lake near Spring City that was full of jeep roads and ATV trails and people were always shooting out there, but its all been posted with a bunch of rules now and all of the trails are grown over. I gave up on trying to find open public land and just joined Oak Ridge Sportsman's Association....great facility.

I got some ammo from them and noticed that it had a TN return address. Don't remember them collecting sales tax though. Maybe it's a new policy.

Texas Gun Show Closed For Refusing Private BCs
i1afli replied to gun sane's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
"If you use a public facility to sell guns, we really oughta have background checks done. Or don’t use the facility,†County Judge Sam Biscoe, the chairman of the commissioners, told reporters after the meeting. And that's a judge saying that. It's a public facility...that means it belongs to the people. See, you don't need to pass laws before infringing upon people's rights...it's all in how some judge chooses to interpret the existing laws. -
Check out some pawn shops. They are a great source for cheap .22s.

I heard this was going to happen
i1afli replied to Transplanted Hoosier's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Exactly. That's why it can happen anywhere. Politician's loyalties change with the prevailing winds, especially when those prevailing winds are driven by emotion and serve to further empower the political establishment. -
I would take about any shootable Garand for that price...wouldn't need to be real nice.
