  2. Find a powder that is actually in stock, or that you can get & then look in a manual to find a load for the projectile that you plan on using & start from the Minimum load.   You won't always be pleased with a powder choice but you will be loading & the ammo should go bang.   It's a start.  Follow the manuals & be safe.
  3. I shot at paper a little this weekend. I shot 2 different Mossberg 935s. One with a 22" barrel with a .690 choke & one with a 28" barrel with a .695 choke.   Also used 2 different loads. I tried Remington Nitro Turkey 3 1/2" 4 shot & Federal Turkey Thugs 3 1/2" 5 shot, both were 2oz of shot & 1300FPS advertised.   The 22" barrel gun also has a rear sight on it & It was shooting a little to the right on both shots. I adjusted it & will try it again in a day or two.   All shots were at 40 yrds. & count is of pellets in the heat & neck inside of the 7" circle HS strut target from Wolly World   First was 22" with a .690 choke (shooting to the right) Remington 4 shot hit 17 pellets. Federal 5 shot hit 25 pellets   Next was the 28" barrel with a .695 choke Remington 4 shot hit 26 pellets Federal 5 shot hit 31 pellets
  4. Poor eagle at a zoo.
  5. NashvilleStage it is the reailers that are keeping it at regular prices that will be in business when these people are gone.
  6. I have pretty much done exactly this (except pay the stupid prices).   When I see it at the right price I buy it otherwise I hang on to what I have for hunting & for my girl to shoot. I feel I have been blessed in finding a few rounds.   As long as there is someone to pay a jacked up price then there is someone that will pay it.    Thank the OP for posting the place so I will make sure not to go there. I still have a few online places that I will never visit in the same for the same reason!.
  7. Wish I could give ya some pointers but I'm in the same boat as you. I will look forward to the advice you get.
  8. A general rule of thumb for me is to have "GOOD" ammo. The $5 & $6 boxes at Wally world don't cut it. They may for some but not for me or my son.
  9. hopefully I can try some out this year. Got a Mossberg 935 that I would like to try out sometime.   I have never been turkey hunting but never really had the chance to go either.
  10. Yup pretty good time. nice to meet ya Snake & Supaman. I can still kick myself for not buying all the MOE vertical grips for $5 each!   Wish the guy would have swaped  the 41 mags with me.
  11. Get ready Bud!! It is starting!! :)
  12. Me I would say as far as the function of parts, get them repaired but I like guns with some character to them.   Now don't get me wrong, if I get one that has been Bubba'd then it needs to be brought back to an original type condition.   But that's just me.
  13. Getting about that time Shaun. Give me a call one day.
  14. Good luck. Hope things get a lot better!
  15. Witch one are you not going to find later?
  16. A&E will regret that.
  17. Just for the record the barrels on my Maverick & my 500 will not interchange. The barrel om the Maverick is held on with a nut like an 870 & the 500 has a bolt to hold the barrel on.   Yes the inside diameter is larger on the Maverick also. The Choke tube also has a larger inside diameter. Is this for steel shot.   I have no idea as I just got started in shotguns this year.   BTW my Maverick is a model 91.
  18. For that $250 do they include another mag tube & .41 bolt?
  19. Holy crap 10 rds of 45-70!!
  20. Well Congrats!! Good job :)
  21. Anybody know why the outside diameter of the barrel on the Maverick is larger that the 500?
  22. Or drill & tap the Maverick for a scope.
  23. My 500 is  the Maverick is not.
  24. I did notice also the barrel on the maverick is larger in diameter than the 500.   My Maverick is a model 91 & is chambered for 2 3/4- 3- & 3 1/2 shells.
