  1. You mentioned a Browning Hi-Power.  I had one once.  It was stolen by some POS about 10 years ago.  Finest pistol I ever owned.  I want another one at some point in time.  If you have the money, you will not regret the purchase!
  2.   The only problem with going with a GI is once you start wanting to sup it up a little, that front site is going to be a problem, because it's part of the slide.  I would go with the RIA Target, which comes with a front sight that is removable.  That way you have a good basic pistol that you can modify up to what you think you like later on.  There are lots of modifications you can do to a 1911.    I will say that RIA GI looks just like the original!  That's a nice liking pistol!
  3. Or you could shop around and pick up something like this. It's a Springfield Armory Mil Spec with adjustable sights, a just a hair over 4lb trigger job and an ambidextrous safety. I got the pistol, 1 mag and the plastic case for $350?
  4. There was a bushmaster in that video?  I didn't notice...
  5. I think most everyone in Knoxville gets their reloading supplies from either the internet or David at the gun shows.  No really a good place around here to find reloading supplies.

Maybe one of these days I will try one out. Might very well change my opinion of the pistol.

I've never owned one, but I've looked at them from time to time.  The thing that has always stopped me from buying one, is the height of the slide.  There isn't a lot to grab onto when pulling it back. It's always been a deal killer for me.  I have a friend that has had one for over 20 years and he swears by it.
  8. Guilty as charged! ?
  9.   Yeah, that was the one where Penny got drunk at the end and Howard got lucky.  All because they pointed out how dumb Zack was. It's a classic! :)
  10. Harvey's Pistol and Loan in Knoxville, is selling ATI Omni Hybrids for $489.99.  That is the lowest I've seen an AR in a long time.  I have no idea about the quality of the rifle, though.  But the bottom has obviously dropped out of the AR market.  If you want one, now is definitely a good time to buy one, before the next Obama Manufactured Gun Crisis.
  11. I have bought several things from there so far. My lastest purchase was Tilley Winter Hat, which I love!  I too am an REI member and enjoy several perks that non REI members enjoy.  Their online outlet specials are killer!   I do wish they would start selling the Mountainsmith Lumber Day Pack.  I'm wanting one of those bad and I got a $100 gift card just waiting on that item!!!
  12. That's all I have on both my AR's.  Scopes and break and and red dot sights the battery can go down.  Iron sights never fail.
  13. This is a bit different, but I read Free Falling (The Irish End Games Series) by Susan Kiernan-Lewis.  Basically a family goes to Ireland for vacation when someone attacks all the major cities in the Western Hemisphere and they are trapped there.
  14. If he sales that Hi-Point for $750, I'm going to invest in one, plus 6 magazines and try it myself!!!  If I don't sell it, I'll just keep it and shoot it!!!
  15. The AK is a better weapon than both of those.
  16. If it's affordable, I'd love to have one!!!
  17. Seems like the actions of a tyranical government to me.
  18.   So would I.
  19. I would think the FAMAS would be a better choice, but then again, after owning two of Mini 14s, my opinion of them is pretty low.
  20. I think you need a small tractor with a mower.  You need to figure out what you want to do.  I suggest laying out a garden.  You can go with raised beds if you don't get a tractor right off.  Gardening is a lot easier than it looks and it's something you can get a lot of satisfaction from in short amount of time!  Just think of the veggies you will be harvesting come the late spring and summer!    Next you need to decide on some stock. Cows and chickens come easily to mind, but something else that comes to mind is goats.  More and more people are getting into raising goats.  Apparently, there is pretty good money in it too!    A good place to start would be your local UT Agriculture Extension Agent. There is one in just about every county in the state and they are a great resource for you and really help you out a lot!  Here is a link.  https://extension.tennessee.edu/Pages/ANR-CED.aspx   Also, I don't know much about feeding parrots, but I suspect they eat millet and such. I bet you can easily raise alot of the stuff that they eat, right there on your farm.
  21. Specifically, Iran. The Saudis are also worried about the Russians becoming the No. 1 oil producing country in the world as well. They've already fell behind us. They do not want to fall behind Russia too. So by cutting oil prices the can kill three birds with one stone. Honestly, OPEC being a scary world dominating entity is no long a big issue. As a group, they really don't like each other and don't play very nice together.
  22. They are replacing coal burning plants with gas turbine plants now.  Also TVA is bringing more nuclear units online as well.  That is not endangering the grid.
  23. Actually, the Government does not fund the upkeep of the electrical grid. The money for that, comes from the rate payers. Our large regional electrical company is constantly working to keep everything running smoothy, now that the ash spill at Kingston is behind them.
