  1. OS, when ever I see this thread, this is what I think of! I have this exact model and I love it!
  2. I've been wondering about these budget priced tactical shotguns. Sounds like you need to do us a range review! :)
  3. Those grips really set that revolver off!
  4. But when they give them all the good toys, they are under supervision of their superiors. When they are home on the block, they are under any supervision.
  5.   If it were to happen, I think this is the most likely scenario.  Can't see them letting an 18 year fresh out of AIT carrying.  That's just not going to happen.
  6. Awesome!  Congratulations!!!
  7. Learn to make these little stoves.  They are easy to make and the materials are easy to find and cheap.  Any auto parts store, will have HEET and big box home repair stores will have isopropyl  alcohol.  Check in the paint department. I don't figure that is something someone is going to looting at first. Carry a push pin with you.  They make perfect jet holes for these little stove.   One downside to these little stoves, is that they are hard to light on cold days.  The warmer it is, the easier it is for the alcohol to turn to a vapor, which is what is actually burning.  On a cold day most people will fuel them up and then place them in a larger short can filled with a little more alcohol (a large tuna can works great for this). Then they light the alcohol in the can first.  This heats the alcohol in the stove and starts the evaporation process.
  8. All the ones mentioned so far  are all great knives, until you have to start humping a 30lbs+ Bug Out Bag.  Give it a mile or two and you will be wanting to shed weight out of it, fast.   I will second the Mora line.  Get a Mora Heavy Duty Companion.  Super light and sharp as hell and easy to maintain.  And best of all inexpensive at $19 plus shipping. Makes a great bugout knife. Mora Knives are the hidden gem of the knife world!   http://www.ragweedforge.com/SwedishKnifeCatalog.html   For a small fixed blade, I do highly recommend the Izula, though.  I EDC one daily.  It rides in my right front pocket easily.  I use it for everything from opening boxes to cutting up my meat at lunch. Very sturdy little knife!
  9. Opinels are an excellent choice for a general use knife!  Love the drawing you did on it!  Great gift idea!!!
  10. BTW, Academy Sports carries P-Mags for around $15 a pop down here.  :)
  11.   I could imagine some politicians being out of job real quick if that were to happen down here.
  12.   I'm glad I'm not the only one that feels this way! And he was really a mediocre actor, too.
  13. Here I bitch about proprietary magazines and I buy a Savage 10P. Try find cheap mags for one of these bolt guns! A Savage 4 round mag cost $40 and a 10 round mag costs $90 to $110!!!
  14. I think it is just a standard Savage mag.  I will have to check though.  Is the mag marked AICS anywhere?
  15. I've been looking for a tactical bolt gun for the last several weeks. I was fortunate to happen on a Savage 10P SR .308 Win. This is a super nice rifle! Oversized bolt knob, 16" threaded bull barrel that is free floated. The barrel also has muzzle break. Came with a Center Point 4-16x40mm AO illuminated scope and a bipod. I'm on the hunt for more magazines and I'd love to have a 10 rounder, but not at $100 a pop. Eventually, I will go to a better scope. Any recommendations on a sling for this beast?
  16. Anyone shot the .308 yet?  How did it do?
  17.   I have a Taurus PT111 Millennium G2 that I carry and I think it's a pretty good looking pistol for a polymer framed striker pistol.  I am very happy with this pistol.
  18. It's kinda nice to have a HP thread and without the bashing!
  19.   Mike that's what the client told us, too.  They felt they could get a delivery within 48 hours.  But since the discussion concerned an EMP most diesel tankers are  not going to be moving, because their on-board computers are going to be fried. So you are back to 24 to 48 hours of operation time.  Of couse, it won't matter if all your radio equipment is fried as well.    Some questions if you are allowed to answer, how long to test run your generators and how often?  Do you receive regular deliveries of fuel, where they top the tanks off or what?  How do you keep the fuel fresh?   BTW, for cell phone infrastructure, the back up power requirement is 8 hours for rural towers and 24 hours for Central offices, hubs, etc. Probably the reason your cell phone coverage was not so good.
  20. I speced a gen set for a client with a 48 hour tank several months ago. Pretty large. Granted the smaller the generator the smaller the tank, but most places aren't going to want to spend a lot of money on fuel that will go bad in a year or two. I suggested going with natural gas, but this client didn't want that. Had to be diesel.
  21. I have asked that an admin to change the title of this thread to Solar Farm???
  22. I'd say about an acre, maybe a bit more.
  23. I was driving down 11E today between Four Way End and Strawberry Plains and noticed a solar farm on the side of the highway. Are they selling these panel? Or is this an actual solar farm? Would be a good place to pick up some solar panells to provide power for a SHTF situation. Here is the address. 813 Andrew Johnson Hwy http://goo.gl/maps/lRd5S
  24. Solar power might be the way to go for running a refrigerator! Speaking of solar panels, I was driving up 11E this afternoon between Four Way In and Strawberry Plains and noticed a about an acre sized solar farm, right on the side of the highway. Anyone know anything about it? The panels lomed to be about 4'x8'.
  25. No worries!!! There's been some good ideas thrown out and that's what this is all about!
