I'd have to go with the Butterbean (I call it a canoe). That's one of my favorite designs!

This was an excellent review! I think I will check out this carbine at Harvey's. Unfortunately, I think I read online that they are out os stock. But I will check never the less and maybe use their Marriage Saver l ay-a-way option, if they they still have them.

Good question! I could see a mass breakout when the guards decide to stay home and protect their families. I wouldn't to live near on a situation occurred!

Read Earth Abides about a month ago. It was good. I was a bit troubled about how the group chose to survive. I would hope a group would try to rebuild a better life, rather than continue to scrounge 25 years later on old cans of food.

I picked up one of these off a FaceBook page last summer for $40. It's a great shooter. I'd like to get an adjustable peep sight for it. It's a .22. I also have one of these that I picked up in at a local pawnshop for $79 out the door. It's also a .22 and it is loud, but it's accurate and will penetrate a heavy guage trashcan in and out. Very powerful rifle! Have not tried that with the Benjamin Classic yet, but I suspect it would too, pumped up all the way.

I own one Taurus, a PT111 Millennium G2 9mm, and I love it! It's goes where I go. Super reliable with about 600 rounds down the pipe. I'm not sold on Keltec. I had a PF9 last summer that was complete garbage. Plus Keltecs are really hard to find. Keltec plays a lot of marketing games that I don't like, in order to drive up popularity and price. I don't like that. I would and probably will go find another Hi-Point at some point. But I think this Taurus looks interesting.

No, I don't remember who, just that there are a couple here that have written stuff.

I think there is one guy at least. It's buried in these pages.

That's not the sling that is on it anymore. Been a long time since I "strapped" into a rifle. When I last did that, I was shooting M14 national Match rifles for the Army Reserve. I typically use a hasty sling, when hunting. While it is a mag fed rifle, magazines are not cheap. Right now on EBAY one is going for $42 and that's the cheapest I can find. 10 round mags are $100. So the side saddle stays for a while longer. When I am at the range I tend to feed the rounds one at a time any way. I rarely load the mag. But mags are going to be bought in the future. :) Sub MOA when I do my job! :)

Finished Alas Babylon by Pat Frank, last night. It's an excellent read! Second time through for me. Might go on to Lucifer's Hammer next.

Excellent idea! However be careful of the blocks. Sometimes that add extra nutrients to the blocks that you don't need.

I went with the medium height rings. I didn't think about the scope bases. Might be changing those out. Love the trigger as it is. Would a 6 oz trigger really be any better? Right now, I am easily surprised when it goes off. I will check out the spent primers for piercing. I've got all the brass I have put through it. The Stock is a Savage stock and the barrel is free floated. I hardly ever remove a stock. But at some point I may upgrade the stock to a Bell and Carlson stock set up, You lost me on the cam pin! I appreciate your taking time to post! Dolomite you are a gem on this site!!

Well I have a "slim chance at survival" with a score of 28. Like most of you, I plan to "Bug In". I finished reading Alas Babylon last night and one of the things that got me thinking that came up in that book was the importance of salt over an extended period of time. I notice that in this quiz, 100lbs of salt was mentioned. I don't know anyone that has that kind of stockpile, but it is something I plan on stocking up on. Not sure it will be 100lbs though. Let's face it, if I'm bugging in in a suburban setting, I am thinking that what ever has happened is not going to be a long term event like in Alas Babylon.

Just to let you know about the recent upgrades I made on this rifle. I went with a Outdoor Connection Padded Super Sling. The Savage 10FP is a fairly heavy rifle and I felt the pad would make it much more comfortable to carry for any difference. I also upgraded the scope. I was on the hunt for a new scope to go with this rifle, as I was not happy with the Centerpoint that it came with. I had narrowed it down to a Nikon, Redfield or a Vortex. I walked into Bud's in Sevierville on Father's Day and right at the very front of the store, on sale was a Vortex Diamondback 4-12x40 BDC Scope for $144. I snatched it up like a hawk diving on a rabbit along with a set of Vortex 1" rings for $192 out the door. With tax, that was about $8 cheaper than the best deal I could find on the internet!!! So now it's sporting some new glass! Can't wait to get it on the range and see how it does!!! It actually lightened the rifle several oz. Enough to notice the difference. BTW, I must say this is a sweet rifle! The trigger is amazing and it's very comfortable to shoot! I went through 40 rounds at the range in one session with zero shoulder soreness the next day!

I have to admit that every since I sold my Hi-Point Carbine several years ago during the economic downturn, I've wanted another pistol caliber carbine. Harvey's in Knoxville is selling CT9s for $479. Does anyone own one of these? Are they any better than a Hi-Point (which as long as you were running Hi-Point mags was very reliable, but the 10 round capacity sucked)?

Picked up a 100 rounds of 9mm 115gr HPs Sunday for $38, at SMKW. Hard to beat that!
-
SKS, is what I would choose. 10 rounds of hi-powered ammunition, 300 yard range and a bayonet in a very reliable and rugged package.
-
I'd love to find a Makarov for $200!

disabling 1911 grip safety (non-pinned style)

Why would you want too? JMB placed this here for a reason. -
Got to agree with this!!! Where the heck can you even find .45 GAP? I don't think I've ever seen it for sell locally.

A Question to all the Soldiers and Marines.....
Moped replied to Grand Torino's topic in General Chat
I carried the big blade all through Desert Storm. That and a Wenger lock blade SAK. The large knife was mostly used for opening MRE boxes and such. The SAK got much more use. Knowing what I know now, I'd have carried a much smaller blade, something along the lines of an ESEE 3 or 4. That's really all you needed, along with a SAK. I EDC an Izula now. I don't much care for tactical folders. I just don't see the point in all the weight for a weak knife. -

Typical leather sheath. Here is a pic. -
Yes the show is starting to depart a bit from the books, but Martin has and is taking an active part in creating the store line.

Mine was on my belt and attached with its leather sheath. I carried on my right hip and I am right handed.
