Good gun control talk after yesterday's shooting!
Moped replied to z0mbies fear me's topic in General Chat
Heard the first call for gun control this morning on CNN. They thought we needed more stringent gun control in order to keep home grown terrorists from obtaining deadly assault weapons. -
Just heard the first call for gun control on CNN. It was couched as a way to deny homegrown terrorists deadly assault weapons. Dumbass!
-
Sounded like he was pulling the trigger as fast as he could.
-
CNN just said that according to LEOs that they have talked to, the weapon that was used was an AK-47 type weapon (their words).
-
Press conference going on now. Killian said that they will answer what questions they can. Haslem is thankful for the work the FBI is doing. Corker says Chattanooga is a great city. Thanks the outstanding LEOs working on the case. Basically, blah, blah, blah. Not sure why they even showed up. Now the Mayor is speaking. More blah, blah, blah. Now Ed Reinhold is answering questions. No idea what the motive was and there are no ties to overseas groups. But they are at the beginning of the investigation with three crime scenes to evaluate. The are checking every possible lead. They have no determined the cause of death of the shooter. Started shooting at Lee Hwy, moved to the Naval Op Center, where he existed his vehicle and entered the facility and was involved in gunfire there. Department of Defense will be releasing the names of those service members wounded and killed. CPD is not going to release to release the wounded officers name. Shooter entered the facility not the building. The FBI will not discuss the weapons involved at this time. No one else is in custody. And then Reinhold ended the press conference.

I wish there had been someone with a concealed carry permit in the parking lot at the recruiting center this morning. They might have saved 4 Marine lives, by returning fire.
-
So would I, but that won't happen, because these were service members and we all know what the WH thinks of service members.

Dang! Wish my knee wasn't all screwed up. I'd drive up there and get a couple!!! Instead I get to go do PT tomorrow. :(
-
People crack me up with some the prices they want for a used firearm. I see used Glocks on a daily bases priced higher than a brand new one at a LGS. The ones that really are cracking me up right now are Taurus PT111 G2s. Right now in the Knoxville area you can buy them at two different LGSs for $199 and $219. And there are several for sale on FB for $350! Do these people not check other ads? Seeing the same thing with SCCY 9MMs. A LGS is selling them for $215 and some guy wants $300 firm on his and he marked it down to that!!! People need to educate themselves about what they have and what it's really worth!

I'm surprised it hasn't happened already! Can't believe that Pelosi, Feinstein and Schumer have managed to keep their mouths shut. I know it's got to be eating them up.
-
The fact that his Dad was on the Terrorist Watch List until recently, probably kept him from getting a job with TVA.
-
Same here, but the joke sorta lost it's punch this morning around 10:50 this morning.
-
Dang! I need to take advantage of that!!!

I'd say that unofficially most Reserve and National Guard Centers will be well protected tomorrow and every day afterwards. Back in the day, I know that our center was well protected on drill weekends. I don't imagine anything has changed since then.

Fair enough.

Well I'm pretty sick of reading all the Gay bashing on Facebook too. I've blocked several so called friends over it. Personally, I'm to the point that if anyone of any faith or religion is overly zealous in their beliefs, I find them suspicious.
-
I've seen an awful lot of radical Christians on Facebook, since the same sex marriage ruling. Muslims haven't cornered the market yet.
-
Let's not all Muslims are radical. Most are not. Nashville is home to the largest population of Kurds in the U.S. Don't think we have any problem with them.
-
Not with a name like Muhammad Youssef Abdulazeez.
-
There were two bodies. Gates at reserve centers are not usually manned. While there are weapons located at reserve centers, there is usually little, if any ammunition located there. Something tells me that is about to change. Part of the fence was bent back and damaged.
-
OS did you see the aerial shot of the motor pool with bodies in it? Ole Muhammad was living is a very nice home too!!!
-
Foxnews just showed a brief aerial view of the Naval Operations Center and there at least two bodies dressed in camouflage uniforms laying on the ground in a motor pool. They just are also showing the car. Looks like the gunman crashed it though the front gate. They are saying he sprayed the building with automatic weapons fires (Foxnews words not mine).

Gunman lived in Hixson, TN. He was from Kuwait and had some connection to Phoenix, AZ.
-
He is well hidden under his desk.
-
Department of Homeland Security Secretary Jay Johnson says it is increasing security at certain Federal Facilities out of an abundance of caution. CNN is also identifying the gunman as Muhammad Youssef Abdulazeez aged 24 or 25.
