Well heck, let me jump on the band wagon. Savage is the way to go! Their triggers are awesome!

Some questions that I ask myself everyday, is if where I'm going is so dangerous that I need to carry a gun because I would be in fear of my life, do I REALLY need go there? And if I really need to go there, shouldn't I carry the weapon best suited for that environment? The little Humpback is for everyday carry. I can step up to more firepower if needed. :) Sent from my SM-G860P using Tapatalk

Was Jim Cirillo on the video linked in an earlier post? After watching that, I started wondering where i could find wadcutters. I used to reload, then got out of it, when I was getting ammunition for free. Now I am started to get back in the game again. But I would not carry reloads for self defense, because of liability in court, if I ever shot someone. I've been told and read that reloads are a big no no in such situations. My Mdl 38 was made in the late 60's or early 70's. Sent from my SM-G860P using Tapatalk

Where does one find wadcutter ammunition? I never see it in stores. Currently I am stoking this with 158gr SJHPs. Since its an aluminum frame, they are not +P. Sent from my SM-G860P using Tapatalk

By the way, you all notice I have the DeSantis Nemesis pocket holster. I absolutely love this holster and highly recommend it!!! When I pull the little J-Frame out, it stays put in my pocket! I had an Uncle Mike's pocket holster for a Keltec PF-9 I carried for a while and it never stayed put and would come out of the pocket with the pistol. Also if you go to reholster, it's much easier than with the Uncle Mike's. It's fairly rigid. Conceals very well, provided your pants pocket is cut right, but I haven't tried it with my jeans yet. They are a bit tighter than the khakis I usually wear. Sent from my SM-G860P using Tapatalk

Here is my set up. I may continue to carry the HKS for a while yet. I also have an old dump pouch. I think I will practice loading with a dump pouch, just see how it well it works. Sent from my SM-G860P using Tapatalk

I've been carrying one HKS speedloader, but I too find it a bit bulky, especially in the same pocket with my phone keys and pocket knife ( the other front pocket has my S&W Mdl 38). So today I picked up a couple of speed strips. They carry much better, but they are slower to load.

If you carry a revolver, which do you like to carry? HKS or Safriland speedloaders or Bianchi Speed Strips? And how many do you typically carry with you?

Aw man, you figured it out!!! LOL! Actually I carry a ferro rod as well, along with a plastic 35mm film canister full of cotton balls saturated in petroleum jelly. Never was a scout, but I like to be prepared. :D

I have to confess that I quit reading this after page 6, because every post seemed to start leading in a circle. I have to say this one of the reason I don't like open carry. If the civilian had been carrying concealed, I feel more than likely there would have never been a traffic stop at all. IF you feel you have to open carry for some reason, then use a holster that has some bit of retention. Anyone could have walked up and disarmed this guy and then turned around and used the weapon on him. Not smart. As for the actions of the officer, I had no problem with him pulling this guy over. He gave a valid reason for the stop. What I didn't like is him just reaching out and snatching this guy's pistol. Seems to me it would have been better for the officer to have stated that he knew the guy was armed and that the pistol should stay in it's holster and then asked to see his HCP. I also didn't like him not taking the time to clear the weapon and stow it properly, even if he had to walk back to the car and stow it there, after first clearing it. Big safety no no in my book. Other than that, I thought both individuals handled themselves well. The officer was courteous and for the most part professional and the rider was not an ass to the officer.

I never go into the woods without 2!!! :D

Look for a Taurus PT111 Millennium G2. We are seeing prices in the Knoxville area ranging from $199 to $250 on them. They are great little pistols!!! Probably the best buy around!

At least you would likely get a few good strikes in. If you throw one, the odds are incredibly slim that you will hit the target AND you only get one throw.. :)

Of those colors, I would probably opt for the Satin Aluminum. Fighting Sheepdog (Lord I love that name!) has a color they say looks very similar to traditional bluing. At 14oz, I could see this little piece being almost the perfect large bore ankle gun! The Hump Back and the short 12ga pump made Tubbs a force to be reckoned with!

Better to use a Hi-Point as a club. Everyone knows that Hi-Points aren't even remotely aerodynamic. Good pistols, but they don't fly worth a damn. :)

Yeah, I ain't looking to shoot the boys off. Over the last 52 years, I've become quite attached to them. :D I'm packing it in a De Santis Nemesis Pocket holster. So far it seems to hid well. One thing I like about little revolvers like this is they DON"T make your britches saggy. :)

Funny, that's the way I think about a carbon steel knife, but nor a firearm. :)

Right side view. Left side view. You can see how rough the finish is on the steel cylinder. I could possibly just have this portion reblued. You can sort of see the scratches in the bluing on the frame if you zoom in. If you zoom in you can see the old rust damage to the barrel. Another cylinder shot. And another cylinder shot. It's an aluminum frame, so yeah only standard pressure ammunition for it. That's a bit of a pain too, because standard pressure SD rounds are not that easy to find anymore. Visited Academy Sports a bit ago and just about everything was +P or LRN. They finally put out some Monarch .38spl 158gr SJHP, so I picked that up. Garufa maybe right. I could have just the cylinder reblued. The scratches on the frame itself really are not that bad. I will take some photos and post them up in a bit.

I bought a S&W Model 38 (No dash) .38spl this afternoon from my Uncle. The finish is not the greatest in the world. Actually it's pretty rough. The the bluing on the cylinder is pretty faded and the finish on the frame is has a lot of scratches on it. The barrel also has had a bit of rust that was started some time ago. It's not bad, but it has marred the finish on the right side. So I'm wondering what do do about it. It would make a pretty decent truck pistol and I don't have a lot in it ($175), but I like how it carries in the pocket. It's pretty light, being an airweight model. I was wonder if cerakote would be an option on a revolver. If so, is there anyone in the Knoxville area that does cerakote, that you would all recommend.

The best October vacations I have been on were to Disney World. It's cool enough to be at all the parks during the day and warm enough to enjoy the two waterparks (Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon). Prices are off season (for Disney) and the parks are less crowded. There are plenty of places to eat with a huge variety of different foods. Happiest place on Earth! Go get a Ontario Rat 1. You can get them of EBay for around $30 to $40. They come in two sizes. And they are built like tanks. http://m.ebay.com/itm/Ontario-ON8848CB-RAT-1-AUS-8-Stainless-Steel-Blade-Linerlock-Knife-/311418189912?nav=SEARCH Sent from my SM-G860P using Tapatalk

A friend of mine told me yesterday that Walmart is discounting ARs and Tactical Shotguns and will no longer sell them. Apparently they are also discounting all their AR and Pistol accessories, including pistol lasers. They were all red tagged at my local Walmart this morning. Sent from my SM-G860P using Tapatalk

A friend of mine at work told me yesterday, that Walmart is getting out of the tactical gun market and selling off all their ARs and tactical shotguns. I was at the Walmart in Halls (North Knoxville) earlier today and they only had one tactical shotgun left and no ARs. All their AR and Pistol accessories are red tagged, including compact pistol lasers. Sent from my SM-G860P using Tapatalk
