  1. SOCOM is looking for companies to produce the iconic AK47 and other Soviet style firearms. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/checkpoint/wp/2016/06/10/special-operations-command-looks-to-u-s-companies-for-homemade-ak-47s/
  2. Well dang. You all got deeper pockets than I do. I mostly carry a Rough Rider Large Locking Trapper, or a Vicky Tinker, or maybe every once in a while a large Case Sodbuster. As a general rule, I don't carry expensive knives, because, well, I'm cheap. I have never spent more than $80 for a knife and that was for a custom Hargis 5" fixed blade, that I bought off the original owner. I also got the Case Sodbuster and a Camilous Switchblade Paratrooper knife (that is broken, but just needs a new switch) in the deal. As I have gotten older (and I believe wiser), I've found I don't really need that tacticool stuff and i have settled on carrying mostly slip joints, like Leroy.
  3. NPR has suggested that Katie Couric's Anti-Gun Documentary would not have passed muster, had it been an NPR produced piece. http://www.npr.org/2016/05/26/479655743/manipulative-editing-reflects-poorly-on-couric-and-her-gun-documentary
  4. I picked up a CZ 75 back in January! Damn that pistol can flat out shoot, but I have to strain to pick up the sights on it. I like my FNH FNS better, because the sights are just so easy to see and it feels really good in my hand!!! Really nice trigger too!
  5. Bought a new M&P Compact .45acp back last fall. HATED IT! Traded it for an .45 XDs and have zero regrets. The M&P had a horrible trigger.
  6. I have no problem with the stock or the paint job. To me those rifles have little historical value. They were too late for WWII and replaced by the AK47 shortly afterwards. However in stock configuration, they are good rifles, that tend to be a little short for me. I need another inch or so on the stock for them to be truly comfortable. If you could find an original magazine out there somewhere, you could have a pretty dang good semi-auto truck gun right there.
  7. I have alway thought the original 10 round fixed magazine was the best. Nothing else in my experience comes close.
  8. It depends on how many survivors there are and how much food there is to go around.  Also I suspect that the Government (not just the Military) would quickly declare Marshall Law and try their best to lock down the country, using the Military and Federal, State and Local LE.  I think that's a given in just about any scenario.
  9. Seriously, I could bring some basic engineering skills to the table, as a surveyor and civil and an electrical designer. Also been a soldier and marksmanship trainer in the USAR.
  10. You and me both, brother! :D
  11. Wasn't the .45-70 Gov’t Model 1873 Springfield carbine at single shot?  I think I read somewhere that the Ordnance Department was run by imbeciles that didn't know their backsides from a hole in the ground.  They felt that repeaters wasted ammunition, so they took a bunch of old Springfield rifles left over from the Civil War and converted them to breech loaders and cut them to carbine length.  It was probably cheaper, but a step backwards from much better and more modern weapons like the Spencer.  I believe the 7th Cav at the Battle of Little Bighorn was armed with such single shot rifles.
  12. It started last Thursday.  Comes on at 9pm on the History Channel.
  13. I'm interested!  Can you PM me the details.

You can't ever sale or trade that pistol!  Sorry for your loss and envious of your gain!
  15. The History Channel's Alone Season 2 starts Thursday night at 9PM!  I watched Season 1 this weekend.  It was a great show!  If you haven't seen Season 1 and you have the chance, go watch it!!!   Now meet the Survivors!!!   http://www.history.com/shows/alone/cast?mkwid=mQo4jPfb|dc_pcrid_9959052000_pkw_%2Balone%20%2Bseason%20%2B2_pmt_p&keyword=%2Balone%20%2Bseason%20%2B2&pcrid=&mt=
  16. You all need to check out Dave McIntyre's series called The Fall!  I'm on book 2 and it's really great.  Also you can see Dave on The History Channel's Alone Season 2.  He is one of the contestants.
  17. Hard to argue with a 30/30 lever action.  Personally, I would consider a Savage Axis if I were looking at a Ruger American.
  18. I was in an MOS where a pistol was issued as part of the MTOE.  We got minimal training on pistol marksmanship and zero combat handgun training.  Personally, I think the entire military is long over due for a complete change in marksmanship and combat weapons training.
  19. I think most here would not agree with your perspective, QM. Sent from my SM-G860P using Tapatalk
  20. Sounds like you got a dud. Most people either love them or hate them, but they have quite a large following. Sent from my SM-G860P using Tapatalk
  21. You are thinking of the Tribeca 7 passenger. It was a pretty futuristic looking car for a Subaru. It dropped after 2014. Sent from my SM-G860P using Tapatalk
  22. He is the Leader of the Republican Party in the State, as the Republican Governor. The leaders of both chambers would not have their positions without his support. Nor would the Whips and Chairs of each committee. They all work in lock step together, usually. Sent from my SM-G860P using Tapatalk
  23. I love Subarus!  You can't go wrong with them.  Just wish they were bigger!
  24. The Tennessee State Legislature might be in the top 25 most conservative.  Key word is might.  When it comes to the 2nd Amendment, they seem to be on the other side of the 25 most conservative legislative bodies.  and nothing will change until Haslam is gone.
