  1. I thought at one time, under one of the SALT Treaties, we had mutually assured and verified, that neither side was targeting the other. Obviously, that could probably change in a matter of a few minutes. The Russian Governement controls the media. Had Putin not wanted this subject to be aired, it wouldn't have. I suspect that the Russians are fearful we are about to interfer with one of their allies in South America, so Putin is doing a little sabre rattling, in the reference of another "Cuban Missile Crisis".
  2. Nice package!!! And I'm talking about the Taurus pistol, there Big Boy!
  3. Russain TV last night listed potential nuclear weapons targets in the U.S. yesterday. Starting to feel like I'm back in the days of my childhood. After Putin's warning, Russian TV lists nuclear targets in U.S. By Andrew Osborn,Reuters 14 hours ago Scroll back up to restore default view. By Andrew Osborn MOSCOW (Reuters) - Russian state television has listed U.S. military facilities that Moscow would target in the event of a nuclear strike, and said that a hypersonic missile Russia is developing would be able to hit them in less than five minutes. The targets included the Pentagon and the presidential retreat in Camp David, Maryland. The report, unusual even by the sometimes bellicose standards of Russian state TV, was broadcast on Sunday evening, days after President Vladimir Putin said Moscow was militarily ready for a "Cuban Missile"-style crisis if the United States wanted one. With tensions rising over Russian fears that the United States might deploy intermediate-range nuclear missiles in Europe as a Cold War-era arms-control treaty unravels, Putin has said Russia would be forced to respond by placing hypersonic nuclear missiles on submarines near U.S. waters. The United States says it has no immediate plans to deploy such missiles in Europe and has dismissed Putin's warnings as disingenuous propaganda. It does not currently have ground-based intermediate-range nuclear missiles that it could place in Europe. However, its decision to quit the 1987 Intermediate-range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty over an alleged Russian violation, something Moscow denies, has freed it to start developing and deploying such missiles. Putin has said Russia does not want a new arms race, but has also dialled up his military rhetoric. The Pentagon said that Putin's threats only helped unite NATO. "Every time Putin issues these bombastic threats and touts his new doomsday devices, he should know he only deepens NATO's resolve to work together to ensure our collective security," Eric Pahon, a Pentagon spokesman, said. Some analysts have seen his approach as a tactic to try to re-engage the United States in talks about the strategic balance between the two powers, for which Moscow has long pushed, with mixed results. In the Sunday evening broadcast, Dmitry Kiselyov, presenter of Russia's main weekly TV news show 'Vesti Nedeli', showed a map of the United States and identified several targets he said Moscow would want to hit in the event of a nuclear war. The targets, which Kiselyov described as U.S. presidential or military command centers, also included Fort Ritchie, a military training center in Maryland closed in 1998, McClellan, a U.S. Air Force base in California closed in 2001, and Jim Creek, a naval communications base in Washington state. Kiselyov, who is close to the Kremlin, said the "Tsirkon" ('Zircon') hypersonic missile that Russia is developing could hit the targets in less than five minutes if launched from Russian submarines. Hypersonic flight is generally taken to mean traveling through the atmosphere at more than five times the speed of sound. "For now, we're not threatening anyone, but if such a deployment takes place, our response will be instant," he said. Kiselyov is one of the main conduits of state television’s strongly anti-American tone, once saying Moscow could turn the United States into radioactive ash. Asked to comment on Kiselyov's report, the Kremlin said on Monday it did not interfere in state TV's editorial policy. 4. I think S&W autos are still pretty good deals in the Auto market. But the revolver market has seen a huge jump in prices. I could see them getting into Snake Gun price range, before too much longer, at least for their steel guns. The S&W Alloy and polymar frames seem to be a bit cheaper. There was a used S&W 638 that was running for a good price here, yesterday! And I see the little .38spl Bodyguards on sale here in Knoxville for around $299, brand new, from time to time. I've only read mixed review on these, though.
  5. Except it’s more than a few dollars. Minimum difference is about $150, but mostly between $200 or $300. Rugers are closer in price. When I was looking for 4” .357 last year, for general plinking, I was thinking S&W but the difference between a Taurus 627 Tracker and a S&W 686 was $300. I bought the Taurus. Now that being said, I picked a new S&W 442 at a Harvey’s FB Auction for $295, just recently! So you might very well find one for “a few dollars more”.

What the hell! Are we twins or something? I’ve been waiting on this exact revolver for several years too and I’m wanting for hiking!!!

Has anyone seen these yet? https://www.ruger.com/products/lcrx/specSheets/5444.html?buy=1
  8. Paid $1.95 at Sam's at lunch yesterday. I've actually been driving the speed limit lately, just to just to see what kind of gas milage I get out of my 2007 5.7L Toyota Tundra. The last two tanks I've gotten 17 and 16MPG. Right now it, setting on 17MPG for this tank.
  9. I love my LCP for pocket carry. I even belt carry it from time to time. If I could trade up to a LCP2 for mine and 50, I’d probably do it, just for the sights, though. I see the 2s on sale for $225.
  10. I’m actually more of fan of the High Power than the CZ. Ergonomically, I think the HP fits the average hand better than the CZ. I have to reposition my hand to utilize the safety and the mag release on the CZ. I never had that problem with the HP that I owed until it was stolen. At the time, it was my favorite pistol. Wish I could afford another one. I do agree with Magiccarpetrides that there are better choices now. Several years ago I sold off my SA 1911 and went to a .45 M&P compact, which I hated. I traded it soon afterwards for a XDs .45. I really like it and would chose it over a 1911 any day. And I would pick my FNH FNS9 or Glock 17 over the Hi Power. But I would still like to have that Hi Power back. And to be honest, I wouldn’t made another 1911. I doubt I’d ever carry either again though.
  11. I actually have a XDs in .45acp that I really like. Thought about getting a service model of it, but of course there is not trading out mags between the two.
  12. I traded a S&W M&P Compact .45ACP for my XDs. It came with 3 five round mags and 2 seven round mags, the holster and mag holder, a hard case and a soft case. You can still get the packages from SA, but these new Model 1s jsut come with one mag, in a cardboard box, so they can lower the price on the pistol. Ruger does the samething with their pistols. Personally, I hate a pistol not coming with at least a second mag.
  13. How many of you have different versions of the same pistol? For example, I have a FNH FNS9 that I really like and I was thinking about picking up a FNS9C for CC. So I could have both versions. Do any of you do that or am I an oddball.
  14. Which is really sad, because it was one of the greatest guns of all time.
  15. 10.5” carbine-length 5.56 pistol with an RDS (HD) I really like the looks of that Saint Pistol!!! Looks super handy!!!
  16. I have an XDs in .45acp that I love. Don't these only have 1 mag though? So you'd have to buy a couple of extra mags at $20 or $30 a pop. That puts them back price wise in the same ball park as the XD Mod 2. Buds has the stainless version of the XD Mod 2 Service Model for $352.
  17. In all honesty, that one thread that gets resurrected about the Tisas 1911 is about the only negative feed back I've heard about their firearms. I would suspect that the BR9 could attain a good following, but I think $530 is just a bit high for a Tisas. I was looking at their 1911 prices a couple of weeks ago and they were about $329.99 at Buds. They are out of stock now.
  18. A S&W Mdl 19 is chambered in .357. I agree with Triple GGG and JAmie Jackson. Take her to a range that rents pistols and let her shoot some and pick out what she likes.
  19. Thanks! For that price, there are several name brands out there that have a proven product. This seems a bit high to me.
  20. I’m very partial to Pits. Both these are rescues and both are smart. The ginger is super sweet, but a bit skiddish around new people. Not your guard dog type. But she is a barker, which I personally like. The gray and white is a Pit-Doberman mix (we think). He’s a barker. With him around, it’s hard to sneak up on the house. His looks are also intimidating, but he’s not a bad dog at all. Just noisy when someone pulls in the driveway or comes to the door.
  21. I have no doubt they'd fight it tooth and nail, before releasing such a list. In the name of national security, of course.
  22. Tiny little thing! Looks handy though. I like little fixed blades. I carry a Folts Minimalist Wharncliffe. I find the needle point on Wharncliffe style knives to be handy at times. This knife little knife you've introduced us too, looks a might better finished than the Folts though.
  23. How was the match? Pics or a range report? I wouldn't mind doing something like this!
  24. Wish I could see the pic, but the work computer forbids it. I will view when I get home. Love .22 Target Rifles!!!
