Those of us that have laptaps, have been told to take them home to tonight and make sure we can VPN in. I don't think my company will send everyone home, but I think the ones that can work from, will be told to either tomorrow or Monday.

Congratulations!!! When I got the .357 fever a couple of years ago, I ended up buying a Stainless Taurus 627 Tracker. I didn't want to break the bank, and at $482 out the door, Taurus offered the best bang for the dollar. New Rugers were running $150 higher and S&W's started at $700. I just wasn't willing to spend that kind of change on what would primarily be a range and woods gun. I couldn't be happier with my selection. It's ported and therefore soft shooting, though the flash is a big much in lower light.

The U.S. Air Force is issuing a new "Survival" rifle for it's pilots. It's a modified M4 with a 12" barrel and fits in the ejection seat of a plane, along with 4 30 round mags. I remember the Auto Ordnance back in the early 90’s. It was the cheapest 1911 on the market at the time. After about a hundred rounds, I started having pins back out and the rear sight fell off. Put the pins back and sold it for a loss to an armor buddy of mine. Then went and bought a Norinco. I was much happier, right up until the time it was stolen. Great pistol! The SDS seems like a good pistol too, from the reviews I’ve watched and read. I’ve also talked to the counter guy at Harvey’s. He broke one down to see what a $350 1911 looked like on the inside and was impressed. He did a trigger job on one and let me try it out. It was very good. He just slicked up the original parts and put it back together again.

I’ve thought about this for many years. Ultimately, it’s better to pick a rifle caliber, for longer range and knockdown power. The next question is which Rifle style, semi, bolt or lever. I have a lot more trigger time on a semi-auto, so for me that might be a better option, in the AR flavor. Next, is caliber. I could go with .223, a variety of 6.5 offerings, a 300BO or a .308. I’d narrow that down, quickly to .223 or a .308, because those two caliber are very easy to find. Looking at what I have at the moment, I’d probably select .223, because that’s what I have at the present.

Ruger LC9S Pro, Ruger LCP or a S&W 442. Dress usually dictates what I carry.

Well, I went hiking in the Smokies yesterday and I just carried my LCP. I've hiked quite a bit over the last 7 years and I go light, on everything, pistol included. But I don't carry for Critters. I carry for two legs. I think the biggest pistol I've carried is a SA .45acp XDs.

The LC9S is a bit bigger than the LCP and LCPII. It’s comparable to the Shield or Glock 43. If you want a 9mm that’s almost as small as an LCP, you should look at a Diamondback or Kahr CM9.

If you get a chance to shoot one, do so. I think you will really be impressed with the change. For the money, I'm not sure it really can be beat. The only negative is they come with one damn magazine. Here is a comparison of prices on the EC9S, the LCP and the LCPII. Tried to find a LC9S, but I think Ruger has stopped making them again. I have both the LCP (.380) and the LC9S Pro (9mm). You definitely will enjoy shooting the LC9S more. The LC9S is getting a bit harder to find. Ruger seems to be making these pistols in limited run. They make a version called the EC9S that is a more economically priced pistol. The sights are milled into the slide (the LC9S has dove tailed sights) and a cheaper finish, but other than that, it's same pistol. The triggers on the LC9S and EC9S are head and shoulders better than the LCP. The LC9S Pro does not have a safety. The LC9S weights about 7ozs more, unloaded, at 17oz. Note: the LC9 was more of blown up LCP with a hammer. The triggers were pretty bad on them. When Ruger came out with the LC9S series, they went to a striker, in place of the hammer and made a much better pistol.

I ain’t saying a damn thing. I think I mighta got semi permission to get my Unicorn Rifle, from my wife, on Saturday! A .357 lever action!!! If you go through Knoxville, you might want to consider stopping at Harvey’s, off Merchant Drive. He usually has a bunch of ARs, both new and used.
