  1. Just saw this, on WBIR's Website. A Knox County Deputy is using a RMR on his pistol. https://www.wbir.com/article/news/crime/knoxville-i-40-shootout-dash-and-body-camera-video-investigation/51-c03f6002-fec1-4080-ab66-9c52d5bfcde4 This is an excellent report. And I am very impressed with the THP, Knox County Sherriff's Department and Knoxville City Police. After the shootout, they were working hard to save the life of a man that had just participated in a gun battle with them. They were compassionate and very much interested in saving his life. Not so sure I could have been in that frame of mind.
  2. My wife and I were in Mountain City last Saturday for a craft show and really enjoyed it. And I am quite familiar with all the other places you mentioned. My take on the Mountain City area is that peole there friendly, but they seemed to have a larged influx of people from other states moving in, but all communities in the Tennessee Valley and the Appalachian Mountains are experiencing this. I can't really speak to the Cumberland plateau area, but I have no doubt that it's experiencing the same thing. While in Mountain City, I talked to one couple that just retired and moved up here from Texas. They bought their house via the internet and didn't see it until they actually moved in. But they love it and he has already cut a couple of ricks of firewood for the coming winter. I also met another Texan and another couple from California that had moved up there, as well as a couple that had moved back from Wilkes County, NC, to take care of her ailing father. All had moved this year. I suspect that prices there are being driven up, by new people that are moving into the area. I think the same thing is going on in the Johnson City, Irwin Area and the Sweetwater area. The Knoxville, restate market is RED HOT right now. I mean SURFACE OF THE SUN HOT! Houses here are sold within a day or two of going on the market, regardless of the price. Went to an estate sale yesterday. The house was well over 3,000 sq ft and north of $600K and they inked the deal four days after going on the market. I have a friend that has lost out on 6 houses in the last three weeks, because people are paying way over asking price. Apartments are extremely hard to get here too. As are new manufactured homes. I guess the gist of this is that regardless of where you go, it's not going to be cheap. Make sure you squeeze every last dime out of your home in Florida. You might very well need it here. Even for a Barbie Doll Playhouse!!!
  3. I hate that anyone has to go through this.
  4. Duh! So you did!
  5. Congratulations! I'd love to right now. But I don't have enough money yet. I'm out of debt in two and a half years and then I'm planning to max out my 401K.
  6. I'm assuming that's Blazer steel case at Academy. I need to pick some up and see how it shoots out of my pistols. The 115 gr at Crossroads Firearms was Blazer steel case, but the 124 gr was Red Army brass. I have no idea if it's reloadable or not though.
  7. I need to it to keep on going too. I retire in 9 more years.
  8. Lumber prices are starting to come down, again. But if you recall they were very high last summer, when Trump was President. Housing is ridiculous, because the demand is very high. I think that there is a bubble forming and soon it will burst. Gas is where I notice it most.
  9. Went to Crossroad Firearms in Fountain City, this afternoon to get a shotgun out of lay-a-away. They have plenty of 115gr and 124gr FMJ, in 50 rd boxes, going for $19.99 a box.
  10. i'm not really seeing it either. Yes prices are creeping up a bit, but considering what we have been through for the last year and 4 months, I kinda expected that to happen. Not really worried to much about it. I'm not planning on buying anthing major anyway.
  11. I agree. It's nice to be normal again.

    Ruger LCP-Max

Honestly, would love to see this little pistol come out in a 10+1 configuaration. I had a P32 and let my daughter have it, when I bought my LCP. She carries it all the time. I've never liked the LCP, like I did the P32. Of course, it would be nice if Ruger made the LCP-MAX, in .32ACP as well.

    Ruger LCP-Max

The LCP-Max weighs 10.6 oz empty and with 11 rounds of CCI 95gr, it come in at 14.6 oz. Compare that to: Ruger LCPII with 7 rounds of CCI 95 gr at 13.1 oz. (the LCP would probably come in around 12.5+ oz.) S&W 442 with 5 rnds of 135 gr, Speer Gold dot at 17oz, Glock 43 with 7 rounds of Federal 147 gr HST at 21.6 oz SIG 365 with 11 rounds of Federal 147 gr HST at 23.8 oz.

Sell it or trade it now. I have an LCP that I probably will just hang on to.

    Ruger LCP-Max

I think I am about to do down this rabbit hole and get one of these! Good Lord the reviews have been great!!! Hickcok45: Ignore what Hickcock has in his hand in this pic! Sootch00: James Reeves: GunBlast:
  16. I think this is something I might do some trading on!!!
  17. This is the one I put in lay-a-way. https://www.budsgunshop.com/product_info.php/products_id/49307/maverick+arms+31048+88+security+pump+12+ga+20+3+7%2b1+synthetic+flat+dark+ea
  18. Thanks for everyone's input! After work, I ran to the grocery store for things to make BLTs for dinner. On the way I stopped at my LGS and checked out their selection. I found a like new Mossberg Maverick with a FDE colored stock set and the 7 shot extended tube magazine for $200. It's in lay-a-way for the next couple of weeks, then it will come out. I swear I don't think it's been fired. No scratches on it or anything! They said an ex-employee came in and traded it in. He'd had it at a cabin and never used it. It does have the bead front sight, and not a rifle blade, but I've shot them before and I'm comfortable with it. I think it's a bargain! Think I will still look at picking up one of those Benelli clones in the future though.
  19. Hmmm... I will check that out! That's a great price, if they have one in Knoxville.
  20. That's the best price I've heard of on 9mm. It seems to be coming back, but not a lot of defense rounds. Most all of it FMJ. Point Blank did have a box of 50 rounds of 9mm JHP, but it was $64 a box, I believe.
  21. My wife and I just recently bought a travel trailer and started camping that way. I've been taking a little Hi-Point 995TS 9mm carbine with us on our trips, but was thinking about transistioning to 12ga shotgun. I have a Mossberg 590, but I really don't want to take it. It's big, beefy and expensive to replace if it gets stolen. All that being said, I walked into Point Blank yesterday and looked at their shotguns. They had a very nice Charles Daly 601HD Semi-Auto that's a clone of the Benelli, without the price that had a 18.5" barrel. It was $279. They also had a Mossberg Maverick with a bead sight and a 18.5" barrel for $248 and another Marverick with rifle sights and a 22" barrel for $239. All three were 5+1 and all three were in my price range of sub $300. Any thoughts on other shotguns you might recommend in that price range?
  22. Stopped in at lunch today, to check out the ammo situation there. They have a lot of ammunition in and there is no limit. But the prices are not good. 9mm FMJ any grain is $36. .45ACP 230 Gr FMJ is $35. I saw 40 S&W, .223, 7.62x39, .308 among other calibers. It's the most ammunition I've seen in one spot in over a year! Also they have the Uncle Mikes IWB waist band holsters down to $2.99. They are nylon but with the double belt clips. I think they make great starter holsters for CC.
  23. I'd still like to find one. I actually love the .32acp!
  24. I looked at one of these when I purchased my Walther PPK. I liked the feel of it in my hand. I hate that you are having problems with it. The one I looked at seemed like a well built pistol. Still they are some 50 years old and spare parts are not easy to find.
