    Beretta 85 9m short

I've shot a Browning BDA. Not a bad little pistol! I liked it a lot better than my Sig 230. The thing is with both the Berretta and the Browning, you need a holster to carry the pistol comfortably and it's just my opinion that if I'm going to carry a holstered weapon it's going to be a bit more powerful. A .380 seems more like a pocket pistol caliber.

    First gun for kids?

Gander Mountian had several Crickets to choose from when I was in there last month. They seem to be solid little rifles and it reminded me of the rifle I learned to shoot with. It was a little Winchester 67 single shot .22 rifle, just like the cricket. A single shot is a great way to to go, while teaching a child to shoot. Sadly, I traded that rifle away about 15 years ago. Now I wish I had it back to teach my own kids with.

I'm sure it's a great firearm, but it seems a mite big to me for the the caliber. I've owned a couple of .380s and I've never been in love with the round. I personally would rather have a 9mm para or a .38 spl. I think they are better stoppers and you can get them in the same size package if not a smaller one. That said, if you really like the pistol, by all means buy it. I suspect that you could get your money back out of it later on at that price.
  4. I'd go with the Keltec too, but only because I don't own a Berretta. I do own a couple of Glock 9mm, so that would be another reason to go with the Keltec since you can get them to take Glock mags. If I owned a 92, I buy the Storm since the mags interchange.
  5. Ruger autos are excellent choices for a first automatic. I have a Mark II Target model with a bull barrel that shoots better than I do! I also like their single action revolvers, though I don't have one. If your looking for a double action revolver, then a Taurus might be the cheapest best route to go. A smith would be better, but it will also cost you more. A Taurus is a good balance of quality and price.
  6. COOL! I'm goona get mine and get it done up in Duracoat Tactical Black!!! The Banners will REALLY love that!
  7. I carry Federal Nyclad 125 gr LHP standard pressure in my Colt Agent. The fella I bought it from was a retired postal inspector and it was his BUG. He highly recommended them and after shooting them through this particular pistol I can understand why! I also understand you can't get them anymore. However I checked out Midway's online inventory and they have several standard pressure .38 loads to choose from. I may try to get some Federal Hydra-shok 110 JHPs. These are designed for low recoil out of a 2" snub, but also generate 1000FPS.

    Walther P22

I fired a buddy of mine's and kepted dropping the magazine due to the location of the mag release and my grip. I decided it wasn't for me. He had the same complaint. His wife loves it though.
  9. That's MY wet dream too!!!
  10. I walked out of pawn shop over on Broadway here in Knoxville with an 870 cut down to 18 1/2 and 7 shot mag extension for under $190. I also picked up a scoped Marlin 30/30 up once for $160. It was in pretty darned good shape too. There are deals out there, you just got to look around a bit.

    She's a beaut...

The idea was for the French resistance to sneak up on a German and shoot him at close range and then take his weapon. This was simply meant to be a hideout gun.
  12. GAWD, but that is one mean looking shotgun!!! I need one of those! It'd make my 870 obsolete!

    Kel-Tec

+1 on the Sevierville Indoor Range! They are good folks over there!

    Thompson 45 SMG Copy

They were made here in Knoxville by at least two companies. Intratec was one of them. Volunteer Arms was another. I don't think they'e been made in a long time though. Parts could be had to come by if it breaks down. I might add that it's not an exact copy. It just sorta looks like a Thompson. $200 sounds like a fair price for one to me. I'm not really sure about the quality though. I'm not sure where you'd find mags, thought if I were a betting man, I'd say they either take Thompson mags or M3 mags. I think when these things were built that was what was available. But I couldn't be sure. Does it look like the picture here? http://hometown.aol.com/jtjersey/Mark45/Mark45.html
  15. I love shooting automaticsm but I will ALWAYS have a snubbie! Currently I have a second generation Colt Agent. It's the most accurate snubbie I've owned. Great pistol!
  16. I thank that's a bit much. Actually, I think it's a whole lot much! The School Administration should be held accountable by the community for something like this. Ridiculous!!! And the School District that withheld diplomas until the graduates completed 8 hours of service for the school district, that's just like slavery in my opinion. And that should be prosecuted!!!
  17. Too bad my daughter's softball tournament was last weekend in Athens and not this weekend! That's my luck!!!
  18. That's just one of many reasons I'm here!
  19. Got me beat! I'm a full time chaffuer for our country's youth to various sporting events. In other words I'm a dad that takes he's kids to their games, be it basketball, baseball, softball, tee ball or track. In my off hours, I'm a Senior Civil Designer for a small civil engineering company in the knoxville area.
  20. Why not go with the Saiga in .308. It's a proven round out to a 1000 yards. You can still get surplus ammo rather cheaply and it's more powerful than the 7.62x39. It is a bit too powerful for HD though.

    Hk416 test

When I was there in 1991, I carried a M16a1 and never had a problem with it. You just have to keep up maintence every day. It only took 10 or so minutes to open it up and brush or blow it out. I the Egyptians down the block aways did the same thing every day with their AKs and IMO the M16 was a more accurate rifle.
  22. That guy must be out of shape. Did you notice his trigger pulls kept slowing down on every second magazine?

Interesting that HK copied a Colt.
  25. The Butt/Leg thing has been going on since they started importing the first Glocks back in the 1980's. If one keeps one's finger off the trigger while holstering a Glock, it's not a problem. Actually, any other pistol for that matter. It does seem to happen mostly to LEO officers though. Personally, I'm a big fan of the Glock trigger though, because it's the same pull after pull. I'm also a big fan of the 1911 and the Browning Hi-Power for the same reason.
