    Kel-Tec PLR16 ??

I was looking at one of these as a trunk monkey! Seems to really fit the bill!
  2. We've had ATT for four years. I dropped them yesterday. My service has been spotty for the last couple of years and when it came time to open a new contract with them, they were not welling to deal for an old customer. I wanted four new phones which I was welling to pay for, but I wanted them to eat the activation charge for each phone. They refused, but kept pointing out that I got roll over minutes. We carried 700 minute share plan per month over the last four years and we had yet to ever go over those minutes. Roll over minutes weren't a big deal to me. The $20+ activation fee per phone was. So as of yesterday we are a new Sprint Customer with four new phones. The cost was the same per month for 1500 minutes instead of 700 minutes, with nights, weekends and texting. We got three LG Rumors and a Samsung M300 for $54 and the activation was free. We are happy. I hope AT&T is. So long!
  3. Hard to hid a 9mm in a pocket. Kel-Tec makes on that is probably small enough. Your original suggestion is spot on. .38 snub is the way to go. I'd continue to push it till he makes a decision one way or another.
  4. I'm not much into the Hi-Point pistols, but I have been hankering for one of their little carbines in 9mm. As for holstering a High Point comfortably, I too would recommend wearing an undershirt between the pistol and skin. I don't even like carrying my Colt Agent .38 like that tucked behind my belt. Another think you might give a try is one of those belly holsters rigs. Here's a link to one. http://www.holsterss.com/servlet/the-17/belly-holster-waistband-wrb/Detail I think there are several differnt models out there. BTW, I too have your problem. 6'3" 310lbs. And I too need to push myself away from the table and maybe get a little exercise... if I could find the time.
  5. That sounds like a real sweet deal! They are awesome rifles! I used to shoot one in competition when I was in the army Reserve. One of the best shooting rifles I've ever handled. Of course those were M14NM's instead of M1A's but they were basically the same, just a name change.
  6. If you can pick up a M1A for $1000 go for it!!! You won't be disappointed! But I suspect those are few and far between. I'd go with the Garand for all the reasons listed above. They are awesome rifles in their on right. The rest are just wannabes. They're fun to shoot and all, but really don't have the accuracy and range to hang with a Garand or a M1A. Another option you should consider for your list is a Springfield '03. Can't beat them either!
  7. I've owned a Glock 17 since 1991 and I ain't blown a cheek off yet. I now own a Glock 19 too and I love the size and feel of it. They are one of the best buys on the market IMO. I've bought, sold and traded a large varity of pistols, but the the Glock is the one I've always kept. Congrats on a great purchase!!!
  8. Carbines have gone through the roof! Wished I'd have bought one back in the 80's when they were running $100 a piece. $495 is a great price. There was one up on GOLSN that the guy wanted $750 for. Those are nice looking M44s. Congrats on getting them! You guys seem to have all the fun toys!
  9. I got a place for one of them at my house!
  10. I hated the dress greens that we had to wear. That was the uglist uniform ever devised by the Army. I like the dress blues, but not with the beret and I don't like them bloused either. On the other hand I like the berets. I thought the reguler Army should have adopted the Tan and left the black to the Rangers though. That was a crappy thing to do to them.
  11. I think a good friend of mine has one that was also a war trophy brought home by his grandfather. They are pretty neat looking little pistols.

    Beretta 85 9m short

I've shot a Browning BDA. Not a bad little pistol! I liked it a lot better than my Sig 230. The thing is with both the Berretta and the Browning, you need a holster to carry the pistol comfortably and it's just my opinion that if I'm going to carry a holstered weapon it's going to be a bit more powerful. A .380 seems more like a pocket pistol caliber.

    First gun for kids?

Gander Mountian had several Crickets to choose from when I was in there last month. They seem to be solid little rifles and it reminded me of the rifle I learned to shoot with. It was a little Winchester 67 single shot .22 rifle, just like the cricket. A single shot is a great way to to go, while teaching a child to shoot. Sadly, I traded that rifle away about 15 years ago. Now I wish I had it back to teach my own kids with.

    Beretta 85 9m short

I'm sure it's a great firearm, but it seems a mite big to me for the the caliber. I've owned a couple of .380s and I've never been in love with the round. I personally would rather have a 9mm para or a .38 spl. I think they are better stoppers and you can get them in the same size package if not a smaller one. That said, if you really like the pistol, by all means buy it. I suspect that you could get your money back out of it later on at that price.
  15. I'd go with the Keltec too, but only because I don't own a Berretta. I do own a couple of Glock 9mm, so that would be another reason to go with the Keltec since you can get them to take Glock mags. If I owned a 92, I buy the Storm since the mags interchange.
  16. Ruger autos are excellent choices for a first automatic. I have a Mark II Target model with a bull barrel that shoots better than I do! I also like their single action revolvers, though I don't have one. If your looking for a double action revolver, then a Taurus might be the cheapest best route to go. A smith would be better, but it will also cost you more. A Taurus is a good balance of quality and price.
  17. COOL! I'm goona get mine and get it done up in Duracoat Tactical Black!!! The Banners will REALLY love that!
  18. I carry Federal Nyclad 125 gr LHP standard pressure in my Colt Agent. The fella I bought it from was a retired postal inspector and it was his BUG. He highly recommended them and after shooting them through this particular pistol I can understand why! I also understand you can't get them anymore. However I checked out Midway's online inventory and they have several standard pressure .38 loads to choose from. I may try to get some Federal Hydra-shok 110 JHPs. These are designed for low recoil out of a 2" snub, but also generate 1000FPS.

    Walther P22

I fired a buddy of mine's and kepted dropping the magazine due to the location of the mag release and my grip. I decided it wasn't for me. He had the same complaint. His wife loves it though.
  20. That's MY wet dream too!!!
  21. I walked out of pawn shop over on Broadway here in Knoxville with an 870 cut down to 18 1/2 and 7 shot mag extension for under $190. I also picked up a scoped Marlin 30/30 up once for $160. It was in pretty darned good shape too. There are deals out there, you just got to look around a bit.

    She's a beaut...

The idea was for the French resistance to sneak up on a German and shoot him at close range and then take his weapon. This was simply meant to be a hideout gun.
  23. GAWD, but that is one mean looking shotgun!!! I need one of those! It'd make my 870 obsolete!

    Kel-Tec

+1 on the Sevierville Indoor Range! They are good folks over there!

    Thompson 45 SMG Copy

They were made here in Knoxville by at least two companies. Intratec was one of them. Volunteer Arms was another. I don't think they'e been made in a long time though. Parts could be had to come by if it breaks down. I might add that it's not an exact copy. It just sorta looks like a Thompson. $200 sounds like a fair price for one to me. I'm not really sure about the quality though. I'm not sure where you'd find mags, thought if I were a betting man, I'd say they either take Thompson mags or M3 mags. I think when these things were built that was what was available. But I couldn't be sure. Does it look like the picture here? http://hometown.aol.com/jtjersey/Mark45/Mark45.html
