Thanks for sharing that story. My eyes are wet from reading it. Our society has so lost it's direction when men like Powers die without any recognition for their service and others, who have have done nothing for our country except denigrate it, continue to be honored. It makes me feel ashamed.

A guy I work with picked up a 17 about a month ago. The barrel is real rough. In fact it's shot out. He's been looking for another, but hasn't located one yet.

Your average thug does none of these things and does what he or she wants. If I were a business owner, I would love cliental like HCP holders! Actually, the more I think about it, I think I know why these business owners are acting the way they are. The are elitists that think they know better than the rest of us. Sorta like Congressmen and Senators in Washington. Same group of people!

I agree that it will never happen. But I think they could afford to do it if they wanted too and the UAW let them. And why should they? Because it will put them on the road to becoming the U.S. leading gun maker again. The last prices I saw on new Pythons wholesale was $799 in the royal blue. Then they went to being a custom shop item and therefore out of reach to most of us. I'm not even sure they do that anymore. The last affordable revolver they made was the SF-VI, which when they were still in production was running between $400 and $500. I wish I'd have gotten one then. I'd love to see them bring back the Diamondback. That was great pistol! Colt always made great revolvers! S&Ws are still priced reasonable, especially with the J-Frames. If I were going larger, then I'd have to consider a Ruger or even a Taurus, just for the cost involved. I understand the Taurus warranty service really sucks though. Be interesting to see if Colt loses the M4 contract now that the Pentagon can go back and rebid it.

Yes we have. And I for one think they priced themselves out of th market back in the 80's and 90's. Of course, short sightedness about market trends and evil intentions towards gun owners didn't help them either. I'm really surprised they have managed to survive since. I own two Colt revolvers made back in the 60's and 70's and they are still excellent shooting handguns today. Colt should come back out with a new small frame double action along the lines of the Colt Detective Special/Cobra and they should also manufacturing new single actions like they did in the old days when the average working man could afford one and be proud to own and shoot it! As it is today, the average gun can't buy one and if he could, it'd be a safe queen! If Colt Managment is thinking of producing revolvers again, I applaud them. All I ask is make them with the same OLD Colt quality and make them affordable ($300-$500 range).

If they did, they'd probably be dumb about it and make them super expensive like all the rest of the line. Sorry about the neagativity, but I love Colt pistols, but they just aren't worth the money Colt thinks they are. You have to be rich to own one anymore.

Air guns have been used in war. The Austrian Army used them to great effect against Napolean in the late 1700's and early 1800's. These guns used a resevoir that could fire 20 .44 cal. lead balls at over 1000 fps. There were several advantages to using air guns at the time. You didn't have to mess with powder and all the dangers that came with it. Can't have wet air, but you can have wet powder. They were quite. And lastly they didn't produce any smoke to hinder the soldier's sight. Napolean declared at one point that any Austrian Soldier caught with an air gun was to be executed on the spot as an assassin. Sounds like they were pretty deadly! Also Lewis and Clark carried one on they exploration of the Louisana Purchase, in case the powder ran out or got wet. They used it for hunting. I believe there was a case, not to long ago, here in Knoxville were a young girl was accidently shot in the head at close range with a pellet pistol and died. Don't know all the facts, but I do remember the story.

Good price on the RIA!!! The only place I know of is CCA. I'm not sure what kind of work they do. Other here, can testify to their quality. Other than that, I know of no one else. You might check over in the Gun Smith section. Some triggers you can drop in and some need to be fitted. I've never dropped a trigger into one of my 1911s. They all had fairly good triggers out of the box, except for an old Auto Ordance that I sold off. My Springfield has a wonderful trigger on it. The things I've done to my 1911s through the years are sights, guide rod (once piece full length), barrel bushing, flat mainspring housing, grips, add on mag well and firing pin and spring. The main spring was the hardest to do and that took about 30 minutes. As I said earlier, I still like to have my Springfield front grip checkered. I understand that's not cheap, so it's going to be a while before that gets done.

Nolo, did you buy the one at South Clinton Pawn? As far as where to start, it's more of question of what you want to do first. Sights or the trigger are probably the most expensive thing to do. Grips are the cheapest and easiest to do. Op rod is a piece of cake. Basically, you just swap it out. Actually, a lot of stuff you can do yourself. It's really not that hard to do. There are lots of how to guides out there for the 1911. Have fun and take your time! One of the things I'd like to do to my Springfield is checker the front of the grip. I don't care much for Hogue or Pachmeyer grips. A nice set of wood grips is more attractive and works just fine.

Those are pretty slick looking! I guess I was wrong about where they they were located. Don't know where I got Greenville from. You'd have to tack on another $400+/- for shipping to your place.

If your going to customize them, then go RIA. Why spend the extra $200 or so on something your going to throw part of away any how. Actually, I got to handle (and that was all mind you) a RIA Commander. It seemed well built and the price was right too, at $399.
