  1. I heard today that ORSA is going to have a Vintage Mil Surp Rifle Match soon. You should enter with that one!!!
  2. Ruger Mk II or III hands down. Best value in the pistol market. Everyone should own one.
  3. Nice! I have one. With proven mags, I'd use it as a house gun in a heart beat. Maybe even out to 100 yds. I could hit a man with it at that range. Wouldn't want to be shooting rabbits with it at that range though. The magazines are the weakest part of the weapon. Never any experience with the pistols. I know Mike speaks well of his. I've often thought about purchasing one though.
  4. I have and use a LoRay sharping system. It's predates the Lansky System, but it's the same thing. I've had it for 30 years. I've also been known to stop at Smokey Mountain Knife Works and spend a buck to let them sharpen a knife for me. And of course shop too. In case you want to know, the sharpening desk is downstairs.
  5. Well... Ah... Well. I seem to have wondered into the wrong place... Bye!
  6. Stay away from Hohenwald. There is an Elephant preserve there and people might get a little spooked when they see that monster cannon come out of it's case. LOL
  7. If your looking for such things, I suggest here. British and UK Militaria - International Military Antiques

What's wrong with the SIG Mosquito and the Walther P-22? No Hi-Points Either! I still don't want to live in Chicago? Oh and back on the subject, Don't know what model H&R you have , but I wouldn't trade it for a Davis either!
  9. Nice! Your father-in-law has a real great piece of history there. Even if it proves not to have been used in WWI! Your family is fortunate!!!
  10. Hey Mike, this was my point. The average citizen isn't going to take the time to fill out a 1099. They are just going to sell the item and pocket the cash. There are a bunch of examples every weekend all over the country. They are called garage sells. I believe that in the City of Knoxville and in Knox County, you are suppose to apply for a permit to hold one and the State expects you to turn over the Sales Tax for any sales. Everyone ignores those regulations.
  11. The CS Special Force Shovel will work as a shovel, an axe, a machete and also kill Zombies. With a little practice you can even use it as a throwing knife!!! Watch the video here especially at the end. Special Forces Shovel With Sheath : Cold Steel (High Performance Knives) Doesn't open cans of 7.62x54 though. Spetnez use their male genitalia for that.
  12. I like ORSA, but I hate driving 30 miles to shoot, when I can run right down to Volunteer there on Rifle Range Road and shoot for a couple of dollars a pop. Range is limited to 100 yards though.
  13. This is one reason I buy "Used", from individuals. No one is going to fill out a 1099 for IRS on anything when they are selling something in an individual transaction. Heck I don't even know anyone that puts the correct price on a car title when they purchase it from another individual, cause who want to pay all that sales tax when they turn it into the county for a new registration... Well maybe Magicarpetride does, but being an Auto Dealer, he has too.
  14. It would seem to me that if you didn't have firearms, you'd start figuring out how to make a bow and some arrows. Even if you had firearms and some ammunition, a good bow and some arrows would be a great way to add a little protein to your diet and save the ammo for defense.
  15. If I were going to have that style of shovel, I'd go ahead and go to EBAY and get a REAL G.I. Issue E-Tool with a carrier. I think I'd also look hard at the CS Special Forces Shovel. I'd also rather have a machete and dump the saw and hatchet.
  16. You know, I never had a problem sticking a snubbie in my back pocket. Always fit just fine.
  17. I've had two of them. Lost them both and I didn't buy another. Good knife though.
  18. There is a nice Colt Agent for sale in the Classifieds. They are light and typically have a wonderful trigger! And the best of all is they hold one more round than a Smith & Wesson J-Frame does. I have one in blue and it's my go anywhere pistol. I believe this one has a matte finish.
  19. Nice!
  20. Sounds like a good way to go. I figured a south facing hill to add to the heat if it was needed. I'd have to have windows too, just for the natural light, but that is doable. I've thought about building an underground house a lot. I'd also get some solar panels and get off the grid too. I'd like it so that the only thing I really needed was someway to hit the net. I could live like that.
  21. Honestly, not that hard to convert if your NOT mechanically inclined, like myself! I have one in 5.56x45. Love it!
  22. It's one of those situations where you are damned if you do and damned if you don't. My Company is the same way. Don't ask, don't tell.
  23. I do have a bias towards Colts, but only their revolvers! LOL! In my opinion the last good 1911 Colt made was the Series 70's back in the 70's and 80's. I understand that they re-introduced the Series 70 again in this decade, but I haven't seen a new Colt in I don't know when. I also don't like the fact that they have all but got out of the revolver business. I'd like to see them bring back some of their affordable quality revolvers again. I don't think they will ever do it though.
  24. If you want to go cheap then buy a RIA. If you want to spend a little, go Springfield Armory.
  25. They are no longer listed on Cold Steel's website. Better get one while you can. I also would like to add the Cold Steel is one of the few Machete makers that uses carbon steel. Most others are stainless steel blades. Another maker that uses Carbon Steel is Ontario Knife Company. They've been making machetes for the military for decades.
