  1. +1,000,000,000 to infinity! I think one of the worst things to happen to this country is the war on drugs. It's a war that can never be won. It's cost us a lot of our rights. And look at the toll it's taken in Mexico. All because we made them illegal and created a source of chaos. Horrible, horrible decision on our part.
  2. OOPS! Nothing to see here people! Move along. Move along.
  3. Les Miles commented on the end of the game and explained what happened. LSU was confused as to what package they were going to send in. The first package was a run package with Ridley. For some reason they switched it to a pass package and pulled the run package back. Tennessee was watching this and started in with some more LBs or Linemen. Then we saw LSU's pass package coming in. Wilcox responded by sending in the pass package and then confusion reigned within our defense on the field. No one came off the field and the ball was snapped. We got the penalty. Case closed. That's what happens when your this young. We dressed less than 70 players for this game. Half of those had yet to ever make a college road trip. Unbelievable we are in such a position.
  4. Dolomite, with posts like that, you can be as long winded as you want! Very interesting!!! I've always thought that of all the "European" rounds, this is the most interesting and by far the most powerful. I knew is was used extensively in WWII by the Russians as a sub-machinegun round, but I've never heard of anyone chambering a rifle in this round. How does this heavy load compare with the 9MM Largo that was used in the in the old Mauser 93 based Destroyer Carbines? Does this round have the potential to be used in silenced weapons like the CIA used in Vietnam, in silenced Destroyer carbines? Hope for your continued recuperation from the Helicopter incident in said far away place!
  5. I guess I'm getting old, but I just don't care for all these tacticool knives I see people carrying these days. If I feel the need to carry a lock blade I carry a little Kershaw Scallion, but mostly I am carrying a Camillous Lineman's pocket knife these days. The little Camillous does just about all I need a pocket folder to do. If I were going to purchase a new pocket knife today, I'd get a German Army One Handed Trekker made by Victorinox (think Swiss Army Knife, but green) Or a One Handed Trekker with a non serrated blade. I also wouldn't pay more than $60 for a knife. $60 will buy you plenty if just about any kind of knife you might want. Just my 2 cents though.
  6. As far as I know there are now stores in Knoxville that sale stuff like that. You occasionally see some mil-surp come through Gander Mountain, but expect to bent over and there won't be any vasoline. Garufa is coorect get your C&R license.
  7. That is one sweet looking Winchester! Congratulations! It's one to pass on to the kids.
  8. Fixed blade: Mora Bushcraft Tri-Flex Folder: German Army One Handed Trekker made by Victorinox Multitool: Leatherman New Wave thought the Victorinox Line is a VERY, VERY, VERY close second! Automatic: Ok, not technically an Automatic, but I would never own one any way. It opens just as fast though. Machete: Cold Steel Kopis Machette. They dropped it from their line, but I like the pointy sword like tip. I think it would make a dandy defense weapon! The Mora Bushcraft Tri-Flex is my go-to blade. Can't beat a Mora for the price, weight, sharpness and handiest knife on the market. There is only one draw back to a Mora and that's the sheath. They are not the best in the world and most people end up buying a good after market leather sheath.
  9. Don't much care for the serrations. Wish it was made with a non-serrated edge and in carbon steel. Think I'll stick with my Mora 780 and put the saved money toward a Wetterlings Hunting axe
  10. Target carries SAKS. Here is a link. Swiss army knife : Target Search Results I heard on another Forum that Target has the Victorinox Trekker One Hand Opener Knife on closeout for $19 in the stores, but I've not seen it myself.
  11. You still run across Winchester Model 88's and Savage 99s in .308 from time to time in addition to the Browning BLR. All of them are damned fine rifles too!
  12. Great post and observation Desert Rat. You will not change a community by moving in. On the other hand the community will change you. Those that don't fit are at some point likely going to be asked to move on. It's also a good point to have a bugout location near close family. That way you have a better chance at acceptance once you show up and have a larger group dynamic to work with. Personally, I understand what CrimsonAudio is saying about staying near to home if you are in a big city, but the fact of the matter is that food is going to be finite there and at some point the have nots are going to try and take it from the haves and the haves are going to be in the minority. Not a good situation to be in. I'd rather have a nice safe, secure location to go in case the worst happens and I'm not really sure it's where I live today. Fortunately for me, I have family just up the road about 10 miles.
  13. You are correct sir!
  14. .22LR Automatic - Ruger 10/22. There are plenty of accessories for these great little rifles, like folding stocks and hi-cap mags. Lever Action - Marlin 39. Great little lever gun. Tactical Shotgun Either a Remington 870 or a Mossberg 590. Both are great shotguns. Another possibility is the Saiga 12, but you need to convert it back to a true AK format. Move the trigger forward, change out the trigger group, change the stock out, add a pistol grip and get Surefire mags. All changed out parts need to be US made though.
  15. I decided not to go with the Stainless, though I think my next Mora will be one. Probably buy a 2000. Looks like a good one. Mora's are addictive. At least they are for me.

This The Dove World Out Reach Center seems like they are stirring up a bunch of needless trouble. Hate to see some our troops be put in harms way needlessly because a bunch of rednecks found it necessary to burn a book or two.
  17. 12 gauge is a good all purpose round, but they take a lot of space up if your in a static place. And if your moving around, they weight an awful lot. If you don't believe me, go buy a 100 count box of field loads and put them in your back pack along with the rest of your bug out stuff and then walk around with it for a day. If I were going to pack a .308, I'd probably pick a bolt or a lever gun for it. Seems like most of the military style rifles are set up for more 7.62x51 than .308. I know most authorities on the subject, don't recommend firing .308 out of a 7.62x51 rifle for any extended period of time. Where as there is not problem in firing 7.62x51 in the .308 chambered rifle. I wonder though if a good hunting caliber would be better. Say a 30/30, just because the rounds are going to be a lot easier to scrounge. When one is thinking of weapons to carry, I think scrounging ability should be taken into account. I think that's the reason you see most here picking the lowly .22Lr. I read on another forum that your probably much more likely to run across a large amount of .22lr than any other round, simply because they are cheap, easy to store and easy to shoot. And if you know what your doing, they will kill just about anything in North America. Don't believe that, watch Swamp People on the History Channel on Sunday nights and note the caliber that all the swampers us to take out gators with.
  18. You know, this thread should really be renamed MORA Carbon Clipper. These knives have nothing to with Frost Cutlery in Chattanooga which we all know of and some love.
  19. That's a great idea! There is a lot we can do that is simple and cheap to do! Good place to check for cheap sheets is Good Will or any local thrift store. Building a simple tarp shelter is basic to Bushcraft.
  20. Kershaw makes a quality knife! I carry a scallion daily.
  21. A lot of people use mustard to get a good patina. I've thought about doing that to my #1. A good site to check out is Bushcraft USA Portal. Also check out Ragweed Forge. That's a really awesome site.
  22. Who did you order it from? I think you will be happy with it.
  23. Mora knives have a cult following among those in the Bushcrafting world. A lot of new bushcrafters start out with them and end up staying with them. The neck knife that Cory Lundin carries on Dual Survivor is a Mora 510 or 511. Many survival schools issue either the 510 or 511 to their students. They are cheap knives, but out of the box, you will not find any sharper! They are not thick blades, but they are tough. You can see people batoning with them on youtube, though I think they are a little to light for that sort of work. They come in one of three types of blades, carbon steel, stainless steel and triflex (a laminate). The rockwell hardness on them is 57-62 depending on which blade you choice. The Swedish Army issues the Mora 2000 to it's troops. It has a 4" stainless steel blade. They are also favored by hikers and bushcrafters, because they are light. A typical Mora with sheath, will weight in at less than 5oz. The blades are also typically 3.5 to 4.5 inches in length. I don't own the Clipper, I have a #1 in carbon steel and a 780. It has a triflex blade. I LOVE them both. Best knives I've ever owed so far. I skinned a 5' walking stick for my son out of a seasoned piece of locust and another me that's 7' long. Used the 780 triflex on both and it is still sharp as the day I got it! There is one bad thing about Moras and just about every review touches on it. Their sheaths are, shall we say, not the best in the world. They are plastic, ugly and cheap. Most people get a new after market sheath or make one of their on. Here is the kicker. Moras start at $9 and up. I bought both mine for $31 including shipping from Ragweed Forge ( www.ragweedforge.com ). Shipping is $6 for up to 6 knives. Ragwood is a good place to go read and learn too. Another good source is www.Bensbackwoods.com. Both of these sites are top notch and both Ragnar and Ben are super to deal with. Smoky Mountain Knife Works sells them too. If your looking for a great deal on a knife, buy a Mora. Best deal for the money you will find on the market. But don't take my word for it. Go research them on the internet. (Google is your friend ) I think you'll be impressed.
  24. I'd love to have one! Typical Washington BS!!!
  25. WOW!!! Super nice find!!!
