  1. I think your probably right about Satan. There was a huge backlash against the Democrats this year. Sadly some were our friends. I vote Independent with a conservative bent, but I tend to look at the man and not necessarily the party, though that comes into it as well. Actually last Presidential election I voted for Bob Barr. The other selections were crap. But I digress.I would love to see some sort of parking lot carry get passed by the state. If nothing else then to just stick it to all the high and mighty employers out there that think they rule us all. I see all our rights getting eroded not just by the Government, but also private business due to insurance restrictions and Lawyers and I don't like it or them either.
  2. You can also do the same thing with an Altoids tin. One thing I'd suggest you try to fit in there is an emergency blanket if at al possible. Then you have some sort of shelter too. There is an excellent thread on PSKs here. The first post has an excellent setup and is similar to yours with the addition of a USGI compass pouch to store the PSK and an emergency blanket in. Pocket Survival Kit - Bushcraft USA Forums Also on that same site, there is an excellent little video on what to do with that little Turley Knife he has in his kit. By all accounts those are excellent little blades. The maker (It's a custom and he is a member there along with a bunch of other custom knife makers) can't keep them in stock.

    H&R 930

Hard to go wrong with one of those pistols. My dad had one and it was pretty accurate. Great little pistol!
  4. Looks like a cross between a Bushcraft and a Nessmuck! SWEET LOOKING BLADE! She did real good!!!
  5. Seems like this is the knife I saw at Walmart on clearance for that price this week. Sharp looking! I like it!
  6. Something made out of concrete would be more structurally sound.
  7. You can currently purchase a Crosman Phantom 1200 .177 cal single stroke air rifle at Wally World for $80. It is supposed to rated at 1000fps with regular pellets and 1200 fps with match grade pellets. Has a Synthetic stock. For a little more you can have one with a wood stock and a scope. I think it runs around $115 or so. I've been real tempted to get one. Might happen after christmas! There are several reviews here. Amazon.com: Customer Reviews: Crosman Phantom 1200 FPS .177 Caliber Break Barrel Air Rifle with Adjustable Trigger and Synthetic Stock I agree also about the car. I'd add one thing though. We don't know what sort of event might occur, but the chances of some sort of Electro Magnetic Pulse seem to me to be growing every year. You might want to consider a vehicle that is pre-electronic ignition (think 60's or 70's vintage). EMP will make it a useless pile of metal, plastic and rubber otherwise.
  8. The one drawback I see with this rifle is lack of iron sights. Gotta have iron sights on my rifles. Other than that, it's a nifty little rifle!
  9. DAMN! That's going to have to be BIG POCKET!!! Mosinon, if you want a good American made slip joint, checkout Bear and Son Knives over at Smoky Mountain Knife Works! Good prices, lots of different styles and made right here in the Southeast.
  10. Just heard on our local NBC Affiliate here in Knoxville, that it looks like the Republicans will have at least 66 seats in the TN House. That's a rout anyway you want to look at it! We might actually see a Unrestricted Carry bill sent to Haslam for his signature!
  11. You are correct, but he has to have his Totin' Chip first. Scouts can also have axes, hatchets and saws after they get their totin' chip as well.

    Advice on old rifle

You can also buy a matte black spray on Krylon paint for Grills that work. Did a rifle outside and it's help up for years now.
  13. If I'm to the point I need to draw a weapon, then the time for intimidation is long gone. Then I'm pulling the iron that I have the most confidence in. And I'm confident with all my pistols, otherwise they belong to someone else.
  14. I had one about 20+ years ago. Got from an Uncle. It seemed well put together, but it tended to have FTF about every fifth round as I recall. I ended up trading it away.
  15. SWEET! How old is it?
  16. I've had one for several years. Not a bad blade. I don't particularly like carrying it clipped to my pocket though. The button for opening tends to catch on my hand if I reach in that pocket for something else.
  17. I've always loved these rifles! Wish I had the money to get one! Congratulations on the trade!
  18. Easy to replace. All you need is some money. I have the same setup on my Loaded edition.
  19. I prefer the regular shoulder stock.
  20. Well let's try this again. Computer crapped out before I could get my post up here. Spent the last hour and half reloading drivers and eating. GRRRRR. For those of you that still haven't bothered to watch the program, the most damaging part of this expose' was the interview with Mark Walker. Mr. Walker was the Remington Engineer responsible for the development of the 700. He said that Remington knew that there was an issue when they released the rifle for production back in the 50's. He even came up with a redesign of the for the trigger that would have cost Remington 5 cents to make. For some reason they chose not to. Throughout his career at Remington, he repeatedly requested and suggested that Remington change the trigger, and at one point in the 70's, they had a program to do just that. But just as they were about to go public with the program, they changed their minds and went with a safety campaign instead. One they continue to use till this day. It's the Ten or Twelve Rules for Safety or something like that. I might add that Mr. Walker continues to do custom rifle design work at the ripe old age of 98 and is sharp as a tack. I hate that CNBC was the one to run this piece. It's damages the Firearms industry and ultimately us. But before we jump all over CNBC for being the liberal namby, pamby network that we all know they are, lets remind ourselves the Remington is a corporation and like any other corporation in any other industry, they are going to cover their butt and try to get out of this any way they can, because they have lots of lawyers to tell them that is the thing to do. Don't blind yourselves into thinking that they are some noble bastion of American Genius. I'm not posting to bash. I have owned and will continue to own Remington products. I think the 870 is one of the best shotguns ever made. But they are a corporation and corporations are in the business to make money, not lose money and they will protect their bottom line at the cost of us, the American Gun Buying sector if that's what it takes to survive.
  21. Well, you need to watch Dateline tonight on CNBC. They are crucifying Remington and the 700 for safety failures. Apparently the Army is having problems out of them as well. in 2003 the Sniper school reported as many as 2 accidental fires in 20 rounds. They show film of a U.S. Army sniper in the prone position with bolt cocked, safety on and hand away from the trigger. With his trigger hand he switches off the safety and the rifle goes off. They also interviewed Mike Walker who came up with the design for the 700. He is 98 years old. He admits the rifle safety and trigger have problems and on numerous occasions requested the company redesign both. He even came up with a fix that would have cost Remington 5.5 cents in the 1950's. Remington apparently didn't make that fix. Laura Watson, an officer of Remington admitted in a deposition back in January that Remington was aware that the 700 could fire under certain conditions without a pull of the trigger. They showed tape of the deposition. Not Remington's finest hour.
  22. If we are out of the recession, then I'm King Tut. And I ain't never been to Egypt!
  23. I have never heard anything bad about a Makarov. Very sturdy pistol indeed. The Russians have always manufactured very dependable firearms. Kevo, I too wish I'd invested in a couple of Comm Block weapons when they were available cheap. $5 may be the best deal I've ever heard of, short of a relative giving someone something for free!
  24. That's a nice set!
  25. Use an old Leroy sharpener system and a old Schrade Honing Steel once I get the blade sharpened. I know a lot of the guys over at another site I go to all the time use Japanese Water Stones and fine grit sandpaper.
