  1. If I'm to the point I need to draw a weapon, then the time for intimidation is long gone. Then I'm pulling the iron that I have the most confidence in. And I'm confident with all my pistols, otherwise they belong to someone else.
  2. I had one about 20+ years ago. Got from an Uncle. It seemed well put together, but it tended to have FTF about every fifth round as I recall. I ended up trading it away.
  3. SWEET! How old is it?
  4. I've had one for several years. Not a bad blade. I don't particularly like carrying it clipped to my pocket though. The button for opening tends to catch on my hand if I reach in that pocket for something else.
  5. I've always loved these rifles! Wish I had the money to get one! Congratulations on the trade!
  6. Easy to replace. All you need is some money. I have the same setup on my Loaded edition.
  7. I prefer the regular shoulder stock.
  8. Well let's try this again. Computer crapped out before I could get my post up here. Spent the last hour and half reloading drivers and eating. GRRRRR. For those of you that still haven't bothered to watch the program, the most damaging part of this expose' was the interview with Mark Walker. Mr. Walker was the Remington Engineer responsible for the development of the 700. He said that Remington knew that there was an issue when they released the rifle for production back in the 50's. He even came up with a redesign of the for the trigger that would have cost Remington 5 cents to make. For some reason they chose not to. Throughout his career at Remington, he repeatedly requested and suggested that Remington change the trigger, and at one point in the 70's, they had a program to do just that. But just as they were about to go public with the program, they changed their minds and went with a safety campaign instead. One they continue to use till this day. It's the Ten or Twelve Rules for Safety or something like that. I might add that Mr. Walker continues to do custom rifle design work at the ripe old age of 98 and is sharp as a tack. I hate that CNBC was the one to run this piece. It's damages the Firearms industry and ultimately us. But before we jump all over CNBC for being the liberal namby, pamby network that we all know they are, lets remind ourselves the Remington is a corporation and like any other corporation in any other industry, they are going to cover their butt and try to get out of this any way they can, because they have lots of lawyers to tell them that is the thing to do. Don't blind yourselves into thinking that they are some noble bastion of American Genius. I'm not posting to bash. I have owned and will continue to own Remington products. I think the 870 is one of the best shotguns ever made. But they are a corporation and corporations are in the business to make money, not lose money and they will protect their bottom line at the cost of us, the American Gun Buying sector if that's what it takes to survive.
  9. Well, you need to watch Dateline tonight on CNBC. They are crucifying Remington and the 700 for safety failures. Apparently the Army is having problems out of them as well. in 2003 the Sniper school reported as many as 2 accidental fires in 20 rounds. They show film of a U.S. Army sniper in the prone position with bolt cocked, safety on and hand away from the trigger. With his trigger hand he switches off the safety and the rifle goes off. They also interviewed Mike Walker who came up with the design for the 700. He is 98 years old. He admits the rifle safety and trigger have problems and on numerous occasions requested the company redesign both. He even came up with a fix that would have cost Remington 5.5 cents in the 1950's. Remington apparently didn't make that fix. Laura Watson, an officer of Remington admitted in a deposition back in January that Remington was aware that the 700 could fire under certain conditions without a pull of the trigger. They showed tape of the deposition. Not Remington's finest hour.
  10. If we are out of the recession, then I'm King Tut. And I ain't never been to Egypt!
  11. I have never heard anything bad about a Makarov. Very sturdy pistol indeed. The Russians have always manufactured very dependable firearms. Kevo, I too wish I'd invested in a couple of Comm Block weapons when they were available cheap. $5 may be the best deal I've ever heard of, short of a relative giving someone something for free!
  12. That's a nice set!
  13. Use an old Leroy sharpener system and a old Schrade Honing Steel once I get the blade sharpened. I know a lot of the guys over at another site I go to all the time use Japanese Water Stones and fine grit sandpaper.
  14. Converting a Siaga is very easy. It's a great way to go! Love mine!!!
  15. OOO! Nice looking knife!!! Good price too!
  16. Here is another nice little knife for EDC. One of the few American made folders now. Bear® Large Titanium Sideliner Lock with Amarillo Smooth Bone Handle
  17. I like both the Kershaw Blur and the SOG Flash II. Good knives, but don't they won't make you cry when you lose them. They will do all you need for an EDC to do. Spydrco Delica is another good knife.
  18. You need to pick up a second pack for your wife and even a small pack for your kid. I have a pack for all five members of my family, including my 8 year old.
  19. Large ALICE is the best deal on the market! The one problem with ALICE Packs is they look military, but you can make or purchase a cover from them that would, that wouldn't stand out so much. Still for the money, I don't think you can beat it.
  20. Yet another good reason to stay out of Federal Buildings.
  21. The best condition original rifles will be the K31's. Still find ammo for them too, but it's not cheap. Cheapest rifle to shoot would be the Mosin, followed by the Mauser. The most fun rifle to shoot of those would be the Lee Enfield. I dearly love them! All are good rifles though.
  22. Best knives I've owned are a Gerber MKII (Traded it), USMC Kabar (traded it) and a Buck NightHawk 650 (Still got that one). My favorite knives are a Mora 780, Kershaw Scallion and a Camillus TL-29 (Lineman Knife). I still got all of these. Knives I'm wanting to purchase are a US Knife (U.S. Military Pocket Knife) and a SAK One Hand Opening Trekker (Plain Blade).
  23. I belong to another wedsite for Bushcrafting. It's one of the bigger sites for such things on the web. We are planning a national meet at LBL in April. A lot of that type stuff is being planned, so I hear. You might want to check it out. Could be a cheaper alternative or a stepping stone to something like Fox Kits.
  24. I think there needs to be a lot more awareness by the British public before change will occur there. That and political will to force the necessary changes through parliament. Definitely liked the article and thought it was right on.
  25. The reason they don't want to legalize is POWER! Look at all the MONEY that gets spent on the war on drugs every year. The people that get to spend all that MONEY don't want to legalize it, because they lose their POWER! Therefore, they push for more MONEY and harsher sentences and new technology and more POWER! It's a never ending cycle. Even the drug lords don't want to see it legalized, because they'd lose their POWER and MONEY, just like the Law Enforcement Officials in this this country.
