Well, if you are looking to conceal it, go with the Commander, if that's not a big deal to you, go with the Remington.

Shooting at Denver theater during new Batman movie.

Well said Dolomite! I know how I would like to act, but I have not idea how I would react, if I were in that situation. Personally, I thought the mother did a great job! She know what had to be done and when to do it and when the time came, she made her break and kept her child safe. That was what was important. I suspect the first thing most of us would think about first is to make sure our loved ones are as safe as possible. There were several instances were boyfriends protected their girlfriends and lost their lives. Those are the ones that are being reported on. There may have been more among those that were wounded. -
I'm looking for some good Prepping Websites. What are some of the ones you all use? I'm looking for information, gear, food, and forums. Knowledge is power and I want to get all I can.

Reading on the Knoxville News Sentinel Website, that the rifle jammed and Holmes had to switch to another weapon. They didn't say which, but I bet it was the shotgun. I read in another account that a woman and her child escaped, when he stopped to reload. It makes sense that he switched to the shotgun. Of course, the "Evil Assault Rifle" with it's hi-cap drum magazine will be the real bug-a-boo! The drum was probably what caused the jam in the first place. http://www.knoxnews.com/news/2012/jul/22/ap-source-rifle-in-colo-theater-shooting-jammed/ -

Got to go along with picking the lesser of two evils in this election or any election. All I really want out of this election is a conservative Supreme Court Justice. We have a better chance of that outcome, with the election of Romney, therefore I will vote for him. But IMO, the only thing I think either party cares about is themselves and retaining power for their party. What happens to this country is way down the list of importance for both of them. My feelings trickle on down to State and even local elections, now. -

I heard somewhere, that they didn't recognize him as the perp at first. They actually thought he was SWAT. I suspect the dyed hair gave him away. -

I wonder if there will ever be a trial. I think this guy has his on Batman movie going on in his head where he is the Joker. If you've seen the last Batman movie, the Joker ends up in jail and breaks out. I believe there was even some booby traps in it, where he was trying to kill police officers and Batman. I think this guy had this in mind and that may have been the reason he surrendered so easily. He may be even nuttier than the one that shot Giffords and her supporters. -

We all have each other here too. We all have family like this. Spot on Dave! I got to say that the way this guy was dressed, your average HCP holder would have had a hard time taking him down with a pistol. -

Savage is an idiot. Always has been. Always will be. And he is no Libertarian. He's a talking head spewing ignorance. -
If you are getting your water from a moving source, a filter should be adequate. From a pond, I'd probably want a purifier. I've used the Katadyn filter and it's great. I'm hearing good things from the Sawyer Squeeze Bag too. It comes with a 0.1 micron filter, a syringe for backwash, straws and 16oz, 32oz and 64oz, water bags. The filter will has a standard sized mouth so you can screw it onto a standard water bottle from the store.

You know, I don't recall ever having eye protection at the range in the military. We did wear hearing protection, but none for the eyes. -
Channel 5 Nashville Story To Air Thursday

What is a "special SWAT team-like unit"? And what is the Arthur saying here "It's a story that pits the concerns of local residents against the constitutionality of firing multiple high powered assault rifles on private property.Arthur saying here". Seems to me that if there is no local ordinance against noise for that particular property's zoning, it's a slam dunk as to who is in the right here. -
Instead of freezing your veggies and meats, have you all considered canning them? If you can, they will last for years unrefrigerated. It's a little more work, but would be worth it in a SHTF situation. Back on topic, considered how I am going to do my garden next year and I'm considering the purchase of a Air Rifle for small game hunting.

I think the S&W Model 10 and it's prodigies, the Mdl 15, 19 and 66, are tremendous pistols. That said, I have a Colt Agent .38 snubbie that I think runs rings around any double action revolver I've ever owned. Very accurate with a fantastic trigger. If your friend's Colt is similar in performance, I'd take the Colt. If you have the chance, definitely take it and try it out! Honestly, that's the best way to make the decision.

The Esee 3 or 4 looks just about perfect for me! Pair that with the Izula or Candiau, a Victorinox Farmer for a pocket knife and a Gransfors Bruks, Wetterlings or Snow and Neally Ax and you are set for life for Bushcrafting or anything else you might want to do outside in the woods!!! Nice purchases!

WOW! What a ton of info on this site! Thanks for the link and special thanks to Vamarine for putting it together!!! It's bookmarked now! If I were to buy a a new 1911a1, I would first look at RIA. I've heard so much good about them, I'd love to buy one and see what all the fuss is about. Alas with three kids, in today's economy, that's probably not going to happen.

POLL: How do we get out of this two-party debacle we're in now?
Moped replied to BigK's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
This +100000etc! They are missing the boat by not doing this. Look at how strong the Tea Party got by doing this. And don't right off the Tea Party, just yet. If they ever work up the nerve to split from the Republican Party, that could be your third party right there. They just have to get their lunatics in order. Unfortunately, that would probably give the Democrats all the power... for a while any way. -
That may be, but I'll hang onto an extra $2000 and use that for some other things like life and shoot my Springfield Loaded all day long. I've hand it for 6 years, and the guy I bought it from had it for 2 years prior to that, and it has been rock solid for both us. At some point the cost out weights the benefit. I believe this to be true on high end pistols and just about every other thing in life.

Those of you who live near the mountains are so freakin' lucky...
Moped replied to TGO David's topic in General Chat
Oh, I know I'm lucky to be living in Knoxville, but when it's time to unwind, give me the beach, a cooler full of adult beverages, a couple of good books, a comfortable lounger and some music and a week of good seafood! I'll use my weekends in the Smokeys, and BSF for blowing off steam and keeping everything on an even keel. But I am glad you got a way! We did the same thing a couple of weeks ago, when we went to visit my mom and dad's new place in Tampa. It was much needed, since we hadn't had a vacation in two years. You have to put work in it's place every once in a while and get away! -
If you take the long what to BSF from OR and go through Rugby and Jamestown, that's pretty scenic!

Better her than Christie! Lord, how I hope it's not that man and if it is and Romney is elected, Romney lives a long life!

Why Mexican carry is a bad idea...
Moped replied to daddyo's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I dropped a loaded SP101 on my big toe out of a shoulder holster one time. Hurt like hell! And I didn't try to catch it then. Actually, that was kind of fortunate it hit my toe, since I was on concrete at the time and it might have scratched it. I bet most of us have carried mexican at some point. I only like to carry large auto that way and I have always have a good belt on. I don't understand how gangbangers, with their droopy drawers, carry mexican. Looks like their pants and the pistol would be down around their ankles.
