  1. I suspect we are on someones list, whether a government list or some other organization. I found it interesting that the Southern Poverty Law Center had the shooter in the Sihk Temple in Wisconsin, in their database. Made me wonder who else is in their Database. I also pretty much guarantee that we are all on somebodies list, just for posting here. I knew people like this. Once I figured out who and what they were I dissociated with them rather quickly. I understand that it's hard to do that with relatives. I figured out real quick that people like that are usually wannabes for the most part and ignorant. Not all, but most. I would become a part of a local militia that civic minded and wasn't politically oriented and racially motivated, but I don't know that there are many out there like that, if any.
  2. Ugh to coated blades, unless it's patina. Got a Mora No. 1 right next to me right now! A classic!
  3. For the money, you won't beat Hi-Point with the others on the market. I've heard and seen horror stories with the Kel-Tec breaking at the hinge. Lifetime warranty on the Hi-Point as well. If something breaks on them, send it in and Hi-Point will repair it. I found off brands that sucked. If you like the look of the Storm, you can replace the stock with an ATI that makes the Hi-Point look like a 1st cousin of the Storm. The one caveat, I have about the Hi-Point is use only Hi-Point Mags. And they are a PITA to breakdown and clean, but as OS pointed out, I must be the only one that ever did that. Most people just run a patch down the barrel and spray some oil on the bolt and call it good. If you want to spend a lot of money, why don't you go ahead and pick up an AR in 9mm. They are out there.

    School Fees?

Just wait until your child's Senior Year! Then see what the fees will be like!
  5. Why does that seem to be a reoccurring theme with Frontier? I've never been there, but I've read it several times on here. Not sure I want to go. Some of the nicest people I have met are the folks are Sevier Indoor Range. The folks are Randy's in Fountain City seem to be pretty good guys too, as do the guys at South Clinton Pawn. You might take a look over there, Timcar86.
  6. Yes Fiscal. I plead lack of coffee.
  7. He's no Dan Quayle. This guy has a brain! And he is not Sarah, bless her heart. I like her, but she was not a good pick for VP. I think she has been good for the party as a whole, though. The Republican Party needs her. I think Ryan is a good solid pick, imo. A fiscal conservative, who has been out there leading the way on budgetary matters, but I am not sure where he is at socially, but he got an "A" rating from the NRA, if you follow such things. Romney could have done a lot worse. Gov. Christie would have been a disaster!
  8. I don't usually agree with Navarrette, but on this, I do. You dance with the one that brung ya.
  9. Something tells me, Tempest would be getting a phone call from school if that conversation were to happen! Pretty cool videos! Nice place to shoot too!!!
  10. Thank you, OS! I might take you up on your offer. It's going to be for defense/utility and just for a day to day edc change up. As for carry method, I've stated before that I'm not a big fan of neck carry. It would depend on a lot on how the shirt I wore covered it up. A small flat knife like the little Colt CT might be comfortable between the man boobs, but the rest of the list, I feel, is a little too thick to conceal under a shirt. So I probably will pocket carry whatever I purchase. Grout, I really like the Beckers. I think they are really solid knives that are at home in the bushes, as much as they are on the city streets. But I am not a plain steel lover. I'd have to have scales for either of them and that's where they get expensive. Scales for either Becker are another $20 to $25. Actually, if I were going to spend that much, I'd probably have to consider a Esee Candiru or Izula. The knives are a bit more expensive, but the scales are bit less. I like the idea of a belt clip. The Tom Krein, and the Folts both accept clip attachments as does the Becker.
  11. Probably a little more information than we really wanted to know.
  12. I'm looking at several small fixed blade knives for EDC, I'd like to keep it around or under $30 and 6 or less inches overall. Here is what I am considering. Benchmark Backpacker Neck Knife Boker Tom Krein Pocket Bowie Boker Vox Rhino Boker Vox Gnome Cold Steel Hai Hocho Neck Knife Colt CT450 Colt Baby Clip Point Hunter CRKT Folts Minimalist Bowie Meyerco Dirk Pinkerton Wharning Meyerco Law Dog (This is actually 6.5") If I run a cross a Becker BK11 or BK14 for under $30, those would be considered as well and most likely would be my top choice, but they are just a bit over my cut off price. You all look the list over and pick which one you like and why.
  13. Sadly I also had a .22 Mag Colt Peacemaker with a 4.5" barrel that was stolen in a burglary. Happened about 6 years ago and it still pisses me off! They got the Colt, a Browning Hi-Power and a Norinco .45acp along with some other stuff and my small locked storage locker. I suspect it was the Garbage Men. It was on pick-up day and they used those little satellite trucks that pull up in your driveway. The police lifted a leather glove print off the back door they kicked in. They went out the front door carrying the storage locker.
  14. You know, I've been wanded at a UT ballgame while carrying a pocket knife and it's never gone off. I always carry a pocket knife.
  15. Hmmm... must keep that in mind at athletic events.
  16. I have a Colt Peacemaker in .22lr with a 6.5" barrel. It's a great shooting pistol! I don't reckon they are that cheap anymore though. I also have a High Standard Deluxe Sentinel. Great pistol that really feels good in the hand and holds 9 rounds. Sadly, they are no longer made, but can still be found for under $200. Any of the old H&R 900 series pistols are also very good shooters and can be had for less than $200. And I'd also have to go with the rest of the crowd and say a Heritage Single Action, though if you can spring some more moola, the Ruger Single Six is a GREAT pistol! If you were to change your mind about an automatic and were looking to go cheap, check out the Phoenix HP22. I know several people that own them and swear by them! If $200 to $300 is in your budget, go with a Ruger MkIII or a used MkII.
  17. Changed up again today! Svord Peasant and my U.S. knife.
  18. I think someone's been watching too much Kelly's Heroes. I got to second Steelharp's recommendation on the Saiga .223. Hard to beat it for the price. I've had 2 mini's and I will most likely not buy another (I didn't say never... this time) and am AR and shoot a lot of AR's in the Army. I like the Saiga, cause it's the simplest semi-auto I've ever seen, it runs like a scalded dog in a volcano and has good accuracy. It can also be had for a couple of hundred cheaper and is totally upgradeable.
  19. I plan on attending. Been a while since I was a show. Kinda got the itch. Kinda don't have the money. But I need to scratch the itch.
  20. They are calling it a case of possible domestic terrorism. Apparently the shooter had a 9/11 tattoo. Many ignorant people seem to confuse Sikhs with Muslims. They are not. Also two semi-automatic handguns were found at the scene.
  21. The pistol grip covers the old trigger group holes, so I left them alone.
  22. Nah, you over estimate them. They don't think like that They will just move back home with mom and dad. I've already seen this with recent college grads that couldn't find a job out of college. The ones in the hood will stay in the hood and gain even more power.
  23. Great job! You took it a lot further than I did. I didn't do the gas tube or the bayonet lug. Nor did I weld up the old holes. I went TAPCO for my parts and them seem to be holding up fine, regardless of the fact that they are panned by a lot of people. I wasn't looking to go back to Retro AK. I liked the Galil fore end, so that's what I bought.
  24. This! No way the Government could keep quiet long enough to actually get everyone needed in line and in place to come down with Martial Law, in the event of a crisis. IF a crisis did happen and there were riots in some of the large metropolitan areas, then they would declare Martial Law in those places only and move the troops in (and don't think they won't either. Both Bushes did it during their terms in office during the Rodney King affair in LA and in NO after Katrina), but not every where. They would be spread way to thin and would have no way to control the chaos. In my mind, in an economic collapse, society would function like what happened during the Great Depression any way, which honestly is about like now, just no soup kitchens downtown. However, I think peoples minds are sorta in Great Depression mode. You see a lot of people saving money and planting more gardens and such.
  25. +1 on what The Dude says
