NBC David Gregory Violates Federal Gun Laws Live On TV
Moped replied to runco's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
He'll never get charged. He's one of those special people! You know, a Lib! -
Gentlemen, it was my understanding that when weapons were found in a home that was searched, that they were taken away from the home owners. If that was not the case, then I stand corrected and apologize. I too was in the service, and served in Desert Storm. We were all taught about Lawful Orders and what to follow and what not to follow. I also know that most young service members are going to do what they are told. If the command structure were to go along with an order to disarm civilians, then I think many units would do what they are told. They might not all like it and some would refuse, but I think a lot would, especially if it were couched in such a way, where they thought they might be in danger from civilians.

Little Omar and James Wilford that responded later are good examples of why good people don't trust LEOs. I sure hope they are a Minority within the LE community. Actually, I hope neither is a real officer! Statements like they both made, are extremely scary!!!

I've taken up the occasional one. Love to have several on hand when camping! Thinking about taking up a pipe again. I want a long stemmed pipe. I've heard the taste is totally different.

Great read and great first post!

I think there would be certain segments of the Military and LE that would attempt this, if so ordered. But I don't think that a majority in the military would be all in for confiscation though. I think LE in certain states and the big cities would though, without much of a thought. The Military might be all in depending on what was going on. If for some reason Marshall Law were declared in this country, for say rioting, throughout the nation, and pot shots were taken at military personnel, then I could see the Commanders being for taking civilian arms up in certain areas. They now have experience with it, having worked in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Building an AR - Post Ban Which Parts Will Be Available
Moped replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Oh, my bad on Manchin!!! I know he is a Senator, but I thought that he was a Republican. I was using him as an example of a politician changin his mind. I hope you are right about that 6.8 AR, but it's Washington and I'm not as confident as you are. Still I don't think IF it happens, it will happen until Spring at the earliest. I'm hoping prices come back down as the initial panic settles down. I need some more .223! -
Building an AR - Post Ban Which Parts Will Be Available
Moped replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
There seems to be some Republican Politicians that don't mind "compromising" on this issue and our rights. Manchin in WV, certainly didn't waste anytime coming out for an AWB shortly after the massacre and he had an A rating from the NRA (bet that changes by the next election). Assuming the Democrats can hold their party together, all they need is 17 House Republicans to roll over on this issue and our goose is cooked. You know the votes are there in the Senate and you know Obama will sign it. The party will be over. -
Do like they do in Hollywood and get yourself a 20-something year old mistress! :) That will be about all that will be left!

I understand. I just don't think you can assume anything with these people. They see an opening for a knockout blow to the hated 2nd Amendment and they are going to swing a haymaker, hoping that it will hit. They will take all that we let them have and more. We have to stand together and say NO, We will not let that happen! Every Firearms owner should be in the fight, regardless of whether you own a "Black Rifle" or not, because the others will be next.

Building an AR - Post Ban Which Parts Will Be Available
Moped replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I doubt it will be like the last ban. The Gun Grabbers learned their lesson and won't go down that road again. IF they can get it through, I suspect we will see new semi-auto rifles of all kinds disappear I suspect that they will also go for magazine limits of less than than 10 rounds for all weapons. I see them going for 7, since large caliber revolvers seem to be limited to that. I would not be surprised to see some sort of tighter restrictions on imports of firearms as well, especially military surplus. I would think that would include old bolt actions and pistols of all sorts. Gone also will be private transfers between individuals and as well as some sort of limit on ammunition. -
Why would your SKS not be considered an assault rifle? It was a military weapon, that's in a military caliber, is semi-automatic and most still have bayonets or an attachment that will allow a bayonet. The Gun Grabbers will lump it right in with the ARs, and AKs and Ruger Mini-14s this time. They know that they got rooked the last time around. If a new AWB is passed it will not have all the loopholes the last one did. I bet money, if they think they can get them, they will go after all semi-automatic long guns. There will also go after high capacity magazines for pistols as well.

Does Gov't know what firearms you have?
Moped replied to ohbehave's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Actually, that is not true, Robert. Local LE is required to trace every firearm used in a crime and they will try and trace that firearm as far as they possibly can. I believe they go through the BATFE for the trace. BATFE will contact the manufacturer, then the distributor and finally the Dealer or if that Dealer is no longer dealing, then the Dealer's records, that have to be turned in to BATFE, when the dealer surrenders their FFL. I'm 99.99999% sure those dealer records are in a BATFE database. They then pass that on to Local LE, who start asking questions and try and trace that weapon to a suspect. While BATFE, may not keep a database for firearms transactions, there is a computer trail of sorts to what a person might have and the potential is there for them to find out what we all have. Heck a good search of this site here, could turn up a list of what a lot of us have, since most of us get on here and broadcast what we have to the whole planet. -
If everyone would just stand together and said "NO, we are not going to do it!" There is no way in Hell the Government could afford to do anything to us. But Dolomite is right, we are being divided. Just go read the comments in the KNS on a gun related topic and see how many say "I own guns and I see no need in a semi-automatic Assault Rifle. We should get rid of them!" People like that irk the hell out of me, because they are too stupid to realize that they are next on the list. The Gun grabbers tried to get rid of hunting rifles and scopes in the 60's after the Tower Shooting and it almost passed. They forget that though.

Well dang! I was hoping it would happen before I had to get out of bed and go to work!!! :D

I just wish someone would kicking out of CNN and then out of the country! :(

Obama set January deadline for gun proposals
Moped replied to ironsniper1's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
This is what I am afraid of. -
I remember Biden being one of the prime movers of the AWB in Senate in 94. Guess he is going to get to try and do it again.
-
It is very easy! If you are able to get one, I highly recommend it! But you had better hurry. :)
-
They will figure out a way to get around the ban. They did it once before and they will do it again.

What Would Be Your Trigger Event?
Moped replied to Wheelgunner's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I won't discuss it either. Is it getting closer, undoubtedly, but it's still far away. -
Benghazi was over and done with any way. The American public has already forgotten about it and doesn't care to remember it. The election saw to that. The Public as spoken and we got Obama for 4 more years. Hopefully, in two years he will be de-fanged, with the Republicans retaining the House and taking back the Senate, but I don't think that will happen either. The Republican Leadership, seems incapable of putting up reliable candidates like the Dims do. There were at least two seats the Republicans would have gotten in the Senate (Missouri and Indiana), if they had run some sane, reasonable candidate, instead of a couple of misogynists. Guess I got a bit off topic there. Sorry about that.
