  1. The militarization of police forces across the country, has been going on for longer than Obama has been President. I think it started for real with the Clinton Administration and their push for community policing.  The objective of this policy was to provide local, state and federal LE agencies, with more officers, better training, better equipment and better intelligence, in order to fight crime.  After 9/11, the Bush Administration ramped this up even more.  Obama has merely continued the buildup.   Some interesting reading form the Justice Department in 1999. http://www.justice.gov/archive/dag/pubdoc/crimestrategy.pdf
  2. I will not vote for Christie.  Nor will I vote for Billary.  If he gets the R nomination, we are damned if we do and damned if we don't.  I will vote for whoever the Libertarians run, and pray that there are another 20% that are finally disgusted enough to vote with me.  Then I am going to pray that Texas sees the writing on the wall and withdraws from the Union, so I can move to a country with sensible laws.   I know, it's a pipe dream, but if either of those two get elected in 2016, we are screwed blue and tattooed. :(
  3. Well, it seems to me that if the City Council appointed him, more than likely, they can un-appoint him!  I believe it's time for some of the good people of Maryville to start making some phone calls to their City Council members!
  4. SO GLAD I DON'T LIVE CALI!!!  It's the crazy state!!!
  5. Well, one reason is cost.  Remington .357 158Gr SJHP is almost twice what .38 Spl 158gr SJHP is. If you are on a budget, that's an important consideration, when you're are trying to buy other supplies at the same time.  Another reason to have a duel or triple caliber (Ruger Blackhawk .357/9mm convertible) is if you have to scrounge for ammo in a post apocalyptic world, it's a lot easier to find one of three calibers as opposed to one caliber.   It also makes sense to have a pistol and a rifle that share the same caliber as opposed to carrying two different calibers.  Using the above Ruger Blackhawk example, you could pair it with a .357/.38 Spl lever gun or a 9mm Carbine.  Another rifle/pistol combination might be a ,44mag revolver with a .44mag lever gun or .Blackhawk in 30 carbine and a M1 Carbine..
  6. A browning Hi-power get would be a great pistol, but I doubt you can one in your price range.
  7. That's a nice looking pistol right there! I like the size too. I have a "Loaded" edition Springfield in Stainless. It's a great pistol, but no way would it conceal as well as that one right there!
  8. Cool thread!  Are these 9mm or 7.62x25?
  9. The first gun shows I attended were there.  Might have to go to this one.
  10. Ya'll got to remember, these shows are mostly for entertainment only.  I surely hope you all aren't expecting to pick up anything useful!  If you want something useful, go on Youtube and watch some Ray Mears vids or some of Mors Kochanski videos.  Those are full of good info about surviving in the wild.
  11. I would like that trade!  But I like revolvers, especially older ones.
  12. Same here!  I'd be leery of any group that would allow you to be a member too!
  13.  Looking at my collection, I would select my Remington 521 and my Ruger Blackhawk .357/9mm convertible.   I am cheating, I know, buI I don't care.
  14. Saiga makes a .308 too.  Doesn't get in less complicated than an AK.  Should be able to get a new one for around that price. Great rifle in a great caliber!   http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=356178043   BTW, I wouldn't worry about them coming to take them away, later on.  Which they may do.  I'd get one before they no longer allow them to be sold.
  15. The Savage 99 is not a single shot.  I believe it's a internal box.  Another lever action you might want to consider is a Winchester Mdl 88 in .308.  Obviously, they don't make them anymore, but they were a top notch modern lever action when they were made back in the day.  You still see them around from time to time.   I would think that a lever gun in .357 or .44  would be the ticket!  They seem to be rare as hens teeth, though.  However, there were a couple of Marlins in .357 for sale here in on the board, this week.
  16. I would LOVE to have one of these in .357/20ga!  To me, that's the ultimate combo!!!
  17. I have a Ruger MkII Target and I love that thing! I've never had a mis-fire or a jam.  It's plenty accurate.  I can't recommend them enough.  Everyone should have one in their Safe.
  18. They are hard to find though! I don't think they are made anymore. Savage is making a Model 42 now, which is an updated Model 24 with plastic furniture. It come in either .22LR/410 or .22WMR/410. http://www.savagearms.com/firearms/model/Model42 As for the inserts, I've read good and bad things about them. It's probably not something I would buy.
  19. I'd go for the 686, then the SIG.  Not a Mini fan.  I've had two of them and will never have another, so I would stay away from that one.  But that's just my 2 cents.  You go with what you like best of the the three. :)
  20. I've heard good things about these pistols. How does it shoot?  Looks like it would conceal well, due to the flatness.  How ergonomic is it?
  21. Moped

    FAL vs G3 vs M14

If you don't like the AR10. then I'd go with the PTR and never look back..
  22. Erik, you are exactly right.  Thank the press, the NAACP, Obama, Holder, Liberals and McCain, because they are the ones beating the drum on this!
  23. I have no problem with an officer using an AR in this capacity, but how does an LEO search and cuff a suspect, while trying to hold onto the rifle?
