Today will make 8 weeks waiting. If it's not in the mailbox this evening I might just throw a conniption fit right there in the front yard. What's the deal? It only takes 5-45 minutes when you buy a gun. Every local, state and federal agency is computerized and I was under the impression all the LE agency systems were now linked. How long did it take to get you permit? Tomorrow is 8 weeks for me. Do not carry in your purse if you have a small child. I picked up a brand new 442 at the gun show this past weekend. $399.95 before taxes and that ridiculous $10 background check fee. Can't wait to go out and fire the little devil.

I like the black 'cause it's more "sinister" looking. I too will mainly just stick the thing down in my pocket when needed. It's only a tool, but I like my tools to look good . Mainly, I'm just curious about the durability of that black. What do these go for in your areas? Saw both brand new for $459 (which I though might good for this area) at a dealer yesterday. Gun show in Knoxville Saturday-Sunday. Will be doing some browsing there but we all know that's hit or miss.

I've decided that either a S&W black 442 or stainles 642 needs to be added to the inventory for carrying purposes. Can't quite make up my mind on the finish. I lean towards the coolness of the 442 but am unsure of the durability. I know that any carry gun will get scratched up to some degree. Who likes what?

There's nothing wrong with keeping you're mouth shut when you don't know what the hell you're talking about. If you don't know something, admit it, then go look it up. Gun shops sometimes do seem to be at the pinnacle of "expertise". Funny thing is when you ask a direct question that you know the answer to, you get B.S in return. I especially enjoy when someone's looking to but their "first" and are immediately directed to the most tac-ed out, 1000K+ handgun with lasers, lights, grenade launchers, etc. I just shake my head and keep walking before I'm forced to say something, something uncouth.

Does anyone know what that dashed indentation is around the center of Remington (at least the ones I have) 22 LR cartridges? Some result of the manufacturing process? It serves no purpose that I see.

Ultramax .40 (Factory reloads). Had half a box of this junk lying around for about 10 years. Decided I'd use it all up practing the day before my HCP class (no practice needed for that!) as I decided to never shoot factory reloads again after it was gone. Not because I've ever had any problems - but because one of my forties is a Glock and I prefer not to have the thing blow up in my face Anyway when I was down to the last 5 rounds saw fire belch out of the chamber and felt some burning powder on my face. Catastrophic failure of the case occurred. Complete separation of head. Luckily, I was shooting the Baby Eagle and there was a gunsmith onsite to take the casing out of the chaber. Luckily no damage.

I'm seriously considering one of these myself as soon as the HCP arrives. I've done alot of research on the net and have not heard a bad thing about them. Fondled one at the store the other day - great feel, awesome DA trigger pull. The price of these things at least around here is going up. Of course all guns seem to be expensive in ET area. Saw alot at gun show couple of weeks ago. May be best place to get.

Does anyone have one of the new Ruger LCP's, tried or even seen one? I'm waiting on the HCP and am looking at my options for what to carry. I want something light and handy to carry in a loose pocket. Don't really care to dress just for the gun - so I'm looking for something small.

Hello everyone. I'm John, originally from Memphis but now living in Knoxville. Got a crazy fascination will guns in general but after some time out of the game am getting back to my roots of mil-surp rifles. Dad got me into that as a teenager with his collection of some mighty fine specimens. Currently, I'm waiting for word from the CMP about my status in the latest carbine craze. Decided I had to have another (or two) and the wait is killing me. If anyone else is in the same boat let me know. Also still wating on my carry permit. Been 17 days.........
