  1. Aren't you clever.
  2. If you believe in the whole Adam & Eve theory then yes, we are all related. If you believe in the alternative, then chances are that we are all related somehow.
  3. If that's what you want (as do I) then you're into that $1500 territory if not more and it is easy to get ripped on one to. If you just want something built exactly like the original to shoot and have some fun with - the modern manufactured ones are the way to go. Colt does have a very authentic 1918 style 1911 reproduction (not A1) with authentic roll marks and even the US Property on it. Those are about $1000.
  4. Many manufacturers make GI-style 1911's. Rock Island Armory and Springfield Armory are IMHO the best. $400 for the RIA and $600 for the SA.
  5. Bears are cool.
  6. The Savage Mark II family is a fine choice. Are several different models ranging from $117 WalMart specials up to the higher-end $400+ versions. Very accurate guns.
  7. They also have Urns for your loved ones or beloved pets should you choose the incineration route. Search results for urn - Walmart The caskets and urns are found in the "For the Home" department
  8. I personally think it's one of the most-posted issues on this forum. Search is your friend.
  9. From now on if I ever see a guy carrying a purse who obviously is not in college I will assume he's carrying a gun.
  10. Launch now set for 11:30 Shoot the rocket already!
  11. So who is the High Sheriff of Davidson County and who is CLEO?
  12. The desire is they're cheap. Ridiculously cheap. Surplus ammo is still available - enough that you can buy it in sealed tins of 440 rounds for around $80-$100 depending on where you shop. Also, IMHO everyone needs a mil-surp bolt action. Mosin is not my 1st choice for that but it's the easiest to get. You don't need to worry about cartouches and whatnot. It's just a WWII gun that won the "Great Patriot War". I prefer Mausers, Enfields and Springfields myself. They're fun to shoot. The recoil will wear you out after a while but a Mosin will put holes in a steel plate at 100 yards. AR's and AK' will not.
  13. It's gumbo night.
  14. Start collecting aluminum cans and 2-liter plastic bottles to fill up with water. If you have a Dollar General or other type store you can get 2-liters of cheap soda for like 75 cents. Shake'em up and they make a nice display. Go by some cheap pumpkins or other type gourds. Those are fun to shoot. If you have a scrap yard nearby go get a very thin piece of steel for long distance shooting. I'm talking 1/4 inch thick. The "ring" is very satisfying and if you decide to shoot something bigger you'll actually put holes through it. If you have any bowling lanes near call and see if they have any old pins they need to get rid of. The list is endless!
  15. Another idea.... I would completey disassemble the thing and make sure there is no goop down in the internal workings, as crude as they are. Here's how I did mine: Collecting and Shooting the Military Surplus Rifle (2006) - Surplusrifle.com
  16. Yep. We've had the highest for years. I hate it but what are ya gonna do? Income tax? That would lower the sales tax rate, but by how much? Not alot.
  17. Did you disassemble the bolt while cleaning out the Cosmo? If you didn't you should and if you did you may want to do it again. That's all I have to offer and probably doesn't help.
  18. That's just filthy.
  19. If you are willing to buy used and go old-school the Smith & Wesson Model 59 has all that. It is an excellent pistol not made since the early '80's but there are several variations since.

    trying to decide

Glocks are great but the XDM is fantastic. Prices on XDM's have come down, so shop around.
  21. Could I talk you into saying something along those lines to my Wife?
  22. My understanding at the time was that the price included all that. May be wrong but that is what the sign said. I know dealer had the yellow forms. We'll see tomorrow - if the same guy is back.
  23. What do you tape the back side with? Duct, Scotch or masking?
  24. Must be mold. LOL. Rust is...rust colored.
