Based very brief research those particular guns (Hungarian SA 2000M's) were designed for single-stack mags but can be "modified" for traditional AK mags.

You might find best results in the following order: standard, high, hyper. Fancy target ammo is usually standard velocity and is a little more consistent in grouping but high does a fine job as well. My only experience with hyper is CCI Stingers. They suck in the accuracy department, especially if target shooting.

Personally, the only critters I am worried about move about on two legs or some mean-ass dog. Your biggest threat in the back-county are two-legged kind and for that HP is probably the best choice. I have no recommendations for anything other than that but what you describe is sound.

If you truly want to learn the art of target shooting a semi-auto is not what you want. Savage Mark II bolt action will not only provide you with excellent accuracy but also help teach the fundamentals of patience and discipline (while working the action). Constantly pulling the trigger on a semi will not teach you anything until the fundamentals are mastered.

To summarize...if you are carrying do not drink. If you are going to drink do not carry. There is nothing wrong with either, just don't do it together. If out for a day at the range or in your back yard, do not drink while handling or shooting guns. Do not play with loaded guns at home while drinking. Maybe we can have another 80 posts to say the same thing.
