  1. Leroy does make a good point. The legitimization of homosexuality via legal means does put them in the same category as minorities who are discriminated upon based upon skin color, ethnicity or religion (initially). Things that obviously cannot be changed. However, there is great debate that being gay is not a "choice" but is indeed inherent to its practitioners. I am inclined to believe people are born that way, not all, but some are "incurable". My personal issue is with making one's sexuality a matter of debate or national policy, or like we saw several years ago, a conservative distraction designed to draw attention away from failed foreign policy. It really is assinine. What people do behind closed doors is no one else's business. Period. Openly celebrating what majorities may consider "perverse" I do have an issue with, but, once again, if everyone just focused on their own lives and quit worrying about what the rest of the world is doing we would be a lot bettter off. For you good people who are actively serving or have served, I'm pretty sure unacceptable behaviour will be dealt with. As it always has been.
  2. My Yugo SKS has a little drag on the bolt too and does not fully close when manually cycliing and easing it down. Works fine in action however. Merry Christmas back at ya.
  3. There's not much to an AK. Load up a magazine, pull bolt back to chamber a round and fire. There is no bolt stop so it does not hold open on last round.
  4. Excellent responses so far but maybe I should not have used the term "scientific". I cracked open "Hatcher's Notebook" today in the throne room. Could not find an answer in the limited time I had but there sure is a lot of information in that tome.
  5. I've been pondering on a couple of things and am too lazy to do any proper research, so I ask here. 1) Why are heavier bullets loaded with less powder than lighter bullets? Is it a pressure thing? Some kind of other kinetic force? 2) Why do heavier bullets, especially from a rifle, shoot higher than ligher ones at a given distance? My experience here is with surplus 7.62x54r & 8mm and noticable differences at 125-200 yards. Why would they have a higher trajectory that lighter projecticles. Somebody break it down for me, scientific.
  6. ATTENTION: Do not attempt to Google that cup business. The description alone transcends the bounds of outrageous perversity. Dayum!
  7. Numrich has alot of the parts and there are quite a few to create an entire bolt assembly.
  8. The A-Team used Ruger AC556F's. Not silly old Mini-14's.
  9. So was he "Monkey Man" before John Q. got chased around by the crazy primates or after?
  10. All you folks that think only 1-3% of the world is queer, meaning gay, or whatever they call themselves, need to wake up. I'd say it's at least 10%, if not more depending on where you are. Always has been, always will. But now that they're taking over it may get worse. Point is they are out there. Been in the military since this country was founded and every other one too. They've been running governments and creating Western Civilization over the course of thousands of years. The military will deal with is as it sees fit, meaning official policy will never supersede reality. While I personally do not agree with the lifestyle, as long as my junk is safe they can do whatever.
  11. I would love to see a breakdown of what pistols actually use MIM parts and specifically what components are MIM. Furthermore, I'd like to see how MIM parts hold up over time...say 50 or 60 years. It's only fair to know when you spend over 1k on gun, right?

    380 for ccw

For 170 I assume you mean the CZ 82 in 9x18 mm? No way you'll every find an 83 for that. The advantage there is 12 + 1 of a fairly potent round. Not 9mm Luger but a little better than .380. A lot of people carry them.
  13. Image everything always being on sale at Midway.
  14. Mamma's lookin' good.
  15. Is the mag release difficult to depress or is the mag just not falling out? I know older Glock mags were not "drop free" as in fall out when the button is pushed.
  16. I have half a mind to buy a Mini and take a carbine class. I would use an M1 Carbine but that ammo is getting to damn expensive.
  17. Take in the rest of the Mexicans and I'm sure he'd be most happy.
  18. How come I don't feel all warm and fuzzy after reading that? Does "caliber greater than .22" mean .22 and above or what? Does that equally apply to Ruger 10/22's, Marlin 60's and evil AR-style Assault Rifles? It will be implemented in the border states but soon at a dealer near you.
  19. Are you peakin' yet?
  20. David, You may be overthinking things just a bit, especially in regards to SME's. So here is my opinion, take it as you will. I personally like post counts as it gives some idication of who you are dealing with. Yes, many like to post just for some immature need to be the loudest kid in class, that often has nothing to do with post count, but it does drive it up and newbies might see that and assume them an expert. I personally find them useful as it does not take long to weed out the blow-hards from those who have something worthy to say, especially regarding technical issues. It is also very useful in the classifieds. I, and I think many others, are leery of people who have contributed nothing and all of a sudden start selling with little to no information on the goods and generally, asking suspicious questions. On more than one occasion the community has ferreted out suspicious people based on post count. As far as SME's go, it sounds like a good idea however, you may find it difficult to appoint true "experts" to anything tecnically related, especially if the selection critia is based on "real world resumes". By that I assume if you work in a gun store you are an expert since that it "resume" material. Just because someone works at a car dealer does not make them knowledable on every current make or model, not to mention used ones. Gauging experience and knowledge is a hard thing and I'm afraid that the wrong people will have the final say-so based on their own subjectivity or lack of experience. Everyone has an opinion, often overlooking objectivity, especially when it comes to guns. I say it is up to the members to decide who is full of poo or not. I was always under the assumption that moderators where essentially SME's for their own forums, so don't we already have that? Are you familiar with Experts Exchange, assume you are being in the bidness and all, where answers to technical IT questions are ranked, an accepted answer is chosen, and the thread is closed. Maybe something similar would get people's questions answered, and keep others from interjecting any more uneeded, or reworded information. Then again, alot of what goes on around here is too subjective so there never really is a right answer. If you start ranking users, somebody's gonna get their panties in a wad and start complaining to you. So my question to you is do you want to make your life more difficult when it comes to management of this great place? Anyway, just my thoughts.
  21. I somewhat jest. When you see all those lube points illustrated it's like, dang! In reality it's no harder to maintain than any other semi-auto weapon.
  22. My favorite weekend shooter....the 91/30 bought about 4 years ago. Have well over 1000 rounds through it and 1st shot last Saturday was bullseye at 125 yards. Very satisfying.
  23. It's kinda like the mystique Jagermeister has. Purportedly, back in the day when I used to swill that crap it had codeine and was only available in three states.
