If you have a RWD vehicle in the snow you might as well park and start walking. Same goes for 4WD in many cases, depending on driver. Now, like Erik said, get in a FWD Honda or Acura...you will be able to go just about anywhere on flat roads and then some. I used to tear-ass about in my '91 Integra (stick-shift) in all kinds of snow. No problems at all.

Like R11 said, it's MIM. Metal Injection Molding. Basically, instead of a steel part being machined it is created from a mold. There is much discussion of the relative merits of this process and the durability of the results. It is a manufacturing process that allows manufacturers to cut costs....and not pass those savings along to the consumer. The quest today is to find a new gun that does not have MIM parts and not have to pay an arm and a leg for it. You can't.

Don't know why you need a gunsmith. Depending on the amount of rust in question a good deal of it can be removed with 0000 steel wool in combination with liberal amounts of oil.

The only Mosins were of the collectible variety, not your average $100 WWII Russians. The one OS mentions is an old Remington made during WWI (or was it Westinghouse? I disremember). There were a few Finnish Mosins as well.
