  1. It's a collector's item. Keep it as such and buy a new smith J frame or later model Cobra in .38. That caliber is also kind of an oddball these days. If I'm not mistaken it is the same as .32 S&W Long. That ammo is not exactly inexpensive. For what it's worth the 31st Ed. of the Blue Book values a 100% example at $850.
  2. This is why discriminating consumers look for surplus bolt guns with matching numbers. This is impossible with American made rifles as the only serial number is found on the receiver, the major parts were not matched, for good reason...the depot practices of the US military was shocking if you've see some pictures. Many American surplus rifles are a hodge-podge of parts from different years and manufacturers. Europeans were a little more considerate. I would honestly be more concerned with headspace on a US rifle than a numbers matching surplus rifle from any other country.
  3. 99.9% of the time it's who's behind the gun. Google "handgun correction chart" or target. Print it out and use it. I have found it very useful.
  4. I might need to shove one or two of those in my mouth tomorrow to finish up some shopping.
  5. Bottles of Tequila. With that gold color they do look like Mexican guns.

    ShotSpotter

Assumming that is the yearly cost maybe 1.5 - 2 1st year officers. Since I am initially skeptical of many things like this I'm gonna go ahead and say this type of Big Brother, high-end military technology does not belong in the hands of locals.
  7. I know nothing about parental control software but if you plan on letting a 5 year old on the internet make sure you've got good virus/anti-spyware software.
  8. I've never bought from them but apparently Pat Burns is THE major source for M39's and has been for quite a while. The stock changes constantly. SOG is the only other dealer that sells them.

    Ruger SP101 4.2

An excellent point that I never considered. The provided site is butt-ass ugly but quite functional and is not plastic as I originally thought.
  10. Iron sights are enough.
  11. I don't see the problem. Do you really want to stay logged in to all the websites you visit?
  12. Another fine example of why the "newspaper" needs to follow up on stories they "print".
  13. You can get an antique receiver M39 from here http://www.gunsnammo.com/ that requires no FFL. What is available changes often.
  14. There is no registration of guns in Tennessee. If you want some kind of paper trail with your name on it and his then go to an FFL and have them do a transfer...for a fee. If it is stolen then someone's out of a gun. It already sounds like it's your gun. You can always call the law and have them trace it if you're concerned but I think you already know the outcome of that if something fishy turns up...you are in possession of it now.
  15. If you plan on a slide-fire stock, which by the way is ridiculously expensive, you might want to go ahead and start buying ammo now. The are cool and all but that $350 stock is liable to triple your ammo costs. But that's just me.
  16. How long did you leave it running?
  17. Light that candle with this... http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002MQ7T3Q/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_sr_2?pf_rd_p=486539851&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B00428TRUK&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=1RWMZRFAP2PBK89Z01CK
  18. Get a Glock 23 (or 19 if you prefer 9mm). It is just about the perfect handgun....Gen 2 that is.
  19. Get him to a vet. My wife's cat had a stroke a couple of years ago but she's still going, although a little crooked. 17-18 is still very old for a dog (and our cat) but it can be treated. For how long who knows.
  20. Do you mean borescope as in seeing what the inside of a barrel looks like or a boresighter for sighting in a sope.
  21. For $300 just buy it.
  22. Are you constantly chambering/unchambering the same round or is every round chambered pushed back? Whatever is going on you need to address it. Bullets being pushed back in the case is not good at all. Leads in increased pressures.
  23. You just typed it.
