    1911 low down

There is no "right" answer to "what 1911 should I get".  Set a budget and stick with it.  If you've never owned one....get a Rock Island, take the $200 you saved, buy a bunch of ammo and shoot the hell out of it.  If you like it and want something prettier, because that's all the extra money will get you, then save your money and move on up.
  2. I remember when CD's came out and what could be heard that could not be heard before.  Now, I long for the richness of vinyl.

    AR lengths?

Pistol, Carbine, Mid length, Rifle and the 4 general gas system lengths.   Barrel lengths include, but are not limited to:  7.5", 10.5", 12", 14.5", 16", 18", 20", etc. (for 5.56mm)
  4. All this talk has me wanting to hook mine up.
  5.   That was Carlos Hathcock's infamous through the scope kill.
  6. I'm sure there will be a flurry of letters in the next few months.
  7. If you can find some Yugo heavy ball ammo you'll see what that rifle can really do.  Congrats!
  8. I have several BX-25's that run ammo Butler Creek mags choke on with no problem.
  9.   I don't know why they would.   Not in a way that would satisfy the vast majority of brace users I'm afraid.
  10. 15 out of 15: You have phenomenal grammar knowledge!   First and only try.
  11. No plastic or locks on a Rock Island.
  12. They're excellent guns....but not exactly WWII style (1911A1) as it does not have an arched mainspring housing.  The straight housing is WWI style and I believe is much better.
  13.   I would say yes.  It's a very nice scope.
  14. 1975-1976.  Most likely '75.
  15. Isn't it a common practice in communist and other totalitarian regimes to turn children against their parents?
  16. Just got off the phone with Bushnell.  They're sending out a set of Butler Creek flippers.  :)
  17.   But they won't and that's the problem.   I want a smartphone without paying a $40/month access fee for data.  Where can I find that?  I can't because "the people" are too complacent in just paying whatever is asked....same reason cable tv costs so freaking much....and everything else.
  18. Pay per channel will just end up costing the same as having all of it.   You either pay what they want or don't.  There's not a lot of in between anymore.
  19. Hoppe's is not adequate for cleaning after corrosive ammo...it was maybe 30 or 40 years ago but they changed the formula.   Use hot soapy water in the bore, no need to remove the stock as you're not giving the rifle a bath.  Run a few patches of that through then clean normally with Hoppe's or whatever.

  21.     Usually when it's time for a contract renewal somebody wants more money....in this case Fox.   After being slammed with a $17/month cable increase this month I don't have any kind words for any of the greedy bastards.
  22.   I will get satisfaction from someone over the lens cover.   BTW, the scope alone is now $99.99.    :grouchy: :wall:
  23. If you can wait until this weekend there is a gun show in Knoxville.
  24.   I am beyond irritated and pissed-off over that.  That mount alone is around $100.  My $150 version of the scope itself arrived today...completed with busted lens cover.
  25.   You sure it's not Fox wanting more than they did before and DISH saying no?
