  1. Now, who want to offer up some land for a private shootenanny?
  2.   We're not the ones with funny accents.
  3.   It's easier just to get a sunroof, pull ahead of a roller and toss a handful of 3/4"-1" steel ball bearings up in the air.   Not that I would do that, I wouldn't, but it's an old motorcycle rider's trick to deal with assholes.
  4.   Impossible.  Reagan is the conservative god.  They still sing his praises and lament life without him.
  5. Lots of good suggestions so far.  With what you've heard here and available on the interwebz the only other suggestion I might have is to watch your step.   There are probably more homeless, bums and random hippies roaming about, laying on the sidewalks and sleeping in parks than you have ever seen before.  I kid you not. They mostly leave you alone but they everywhere around the downtown area.
  6.   This.  Just take the muzzle brake off and try again.  But realize .223/5.56's are simply just loud.

    My First 1911

A couple of observations from a not-professional:   1)  CZ 75's are simply more accurate and slip right into the hand.  Your hand is where it's gonna be.   2)  If you can handle a CZ with small hands a 1911 should be no problem.  The grip is a lot thinner but the front end maybe a bit heavier.  You shouldn't hold a pistol too tight but maybe you aren't holding it tight enough? Don't worry about where you rest your thumb(s).  They should both be pointed straight forward.....just not against the slide.
  8. Another excellent write-up.
  9. I wonder if the people who build grills/smokers out of old drums as a business give a crap about what was in it before.  From the ones I've see the answer is no.   They don't sell Oak Ridge 55 gallon drums, those are buried somewhere.  I have a feeling fire will take care of what was in any other non-food grade drum.
  10.   Ergo, it is the law....unless one has really deep pockets and a desire to ruin their lives.
  11.
  12. Fishing in a canoe sounds far easier.
  13.   I was there.  Great show.  RIP BB.
  14. One of the best Gyros I've ever had came from Spiro's right there were the ferry lands on Coronado.   From downtown/Gaslamp you can ride the trolley up to Old Town for a taste of history....and tourism.
  15. Tour the USS Midway.  It's on the bay north of the convention center.  Allow yourself a couple of hours to go through it.
  16. How do you even find a two year old article on The Blaze?  The blasted pop-ups and ads would shutdown even the most robust computer.
  17.   I have a problem with the notion of governments "owning" property.  Yes, they can and should dictate how some property is used under their control but they do not own it.  The people do.   It's a matter of semantics but still I think should be keep in mind.
  18.   It's not match grade ammo but it does just fine out of my new M1A Scout Squad.  I can't guarantee it's moa but it's minute of 8" circle at around 115 yards with open sights.  Scoped I'd say the moa claim they make is true.   Most importantly you can't beat the price, even at $9.97/box.
  19. Everything is taxed.  Guns & Ammo are no different.  The taxes are imposed on manufacturers, producers and importers who, of course, pass that cost on to the consumer.  The consumer just doesn't know it.   http://www.ttb.gov/firearms/background.shtml http://www.ecfr.gov/cgi-bin/text-idx?SID=d0544e3b23e2ddd4c086f8046f804935&mc=true&node=se27.2.53_161&rgn=div8
  20. I am pleased to announce that last Wednesday, the 6th, I happened to be driving through Nashville.   I cleaned out the Charlotte Pk WM of Perfecta 9mm, well maybe there was one or two boxes after I bought 20, literally minutes before the price changed.  They had already taken down the red $6.94 price tag and the clerks were telling me the price was going up...that day.  They scanned a box and it was still the nice price.  As an added bonus they had American Eagle .22 in stock so I was obliged to pick up the 3 box limit.  :D   Also swung by the Mt. Juliet WM to load up on the ZQI 7.62x51 before the price went up.  Made an impressive score there as well.  :D
  21. Academy often has it.
  22. Why Goose Mountain is even in business I don't know.  They have the absolute highest prices of any place I've ever seen.   They have a massive gun department at the Knoxville (Farragut) location but the prices are beyond ridiculous.  They seem to take MSRP seriously.  Pretty sure ammo prices go up every time I visit which is maybe once every three months.   Sadly, they are always busy and people are always buying guns there....screwing things up for people who like to stretch a dollar such as myself.
  23. I vote for the .45-70 just because I think big, tough pigs should be properly thumped.
  24. Back in the mid '90's there were several rapes/sexual assaults along that section of the greenway.  They caught the guy and if I'm not mistaken he lived right there in that area between West High and the Sutherland Ave. entrance.   I'd don't know that it's a bad area but it sure is not a good area.  That particular little area is not a high-rent district.
  25.   The Sutherland Ave entrance to the greenway is far from being a better part of town.  It's mighty close but the Sutherland Ave area proper is rapidly going downhill...never has been all that nice.
