The standard handguard can also be replaced with a Magpul MOE. No tools are required for installation. They even make little rail sections that attach to it for mounting stuff. Handguard is about $30. Don't know about the rail sections.

Way long story short: - 5.56 ammo will perform marginally better in a 5.56 chamber. - Don't use 5.56 in a .223 chamber. That's really all there is to go on without writing a novel as there are so many variables...like ".223" ammo loaded to 5.56 specs.
