  1. Carry permits are pulled on a regular basis. What's going to keep a permit holder from buying a gun after it is revoked before the next renewal...the only time a background check is performed?
  2. I've been a huge Merrell fan for years. Bought my first pair of their hiking boots probably 25 years ago. Have been through I don't know how many pairs of shoes from them over the years but I do know that the quality has been steadily declining. Of all the pairs in my current rotation...4 or 5 I think, each have problems and are messing with my walk. When it comes time to buy shoes I'll be overlooking Merrell.
  3. Just an FYI for everyone out there: Not all "Tulammo" is made in Russia. Maxxtech brass and Brassmaxx are names used by Tulammo for ammo made is Bosnia and Herzegovina (or wherever else they source it from). Not made in Russia by the Tula Cartridge Works. The original box will always state country of origin.
  4. Update: I was thinking of IMT brass that Freedom Munitions was using. Lols of info out there on the interwebz about that.
  5. I have heard of "stepped" brass found in certain brands of 9mm ammo that it's a good idea to look out for. Did a bit of googling on it a couple of years ago but it was not related to this brand. I believe it was related to new production ammo from a company whose name escapes me. A lot of people on his forum have bought from them online as they have great prices and shipping deals. They also sell factory reloads. I simple can't remember the name right now.
  6. I grew up watching Don Rickles on TV and often didn't really get his style and fully appreciate his humor as he was already old as hell. SNL was cranking up, and guys like Steve Martin, Robin Williams, Andy Kaufman, etc., were just starting out and cracked me up. The older I got the more I started to appreciate this master smart-ass. There's no doubt he was an influence on my own, intolerable to some, smart-assery...along with my genes. RIP Don. I imagine the Dean Martin Roasts wherever they're being held now are over the top.

  7. If it removes rust then it will remove bluing. FYI, bluing is actually a form of rust. If you only have a little bit of rust to deal with then judicious use of well-oiled 0000 steel wool will usually do the trick.
  8. I was wondering if that was him.
  9. He will turn it over to the law for disposal. I wonder if he bought it using campaign funds or his tax-payer provided discretionary funds.
  10. http://www.wsmv.com/story/35081307/rep-tries-to-sell-ak-47-at-lemonade-stand-before-pushing-background-checks Who is Mike Stewart and what kind of tool is he?
  11. TBV makes it 1988. I'll never understand the decision for that absurd rear sight. They were carried over into the gen 3's but there are a lot of those that did not have it. I searched for quite some time and finally found a 5904 with round trigger guard and normal sights, just because I wanted a gen 3 and those were my three requirments. Amazing how cheap they are, at least a couple of years ago. It's no match for the 39, but still great.
  12. Do y'all think Rick would lay with that weird looking trash "woman" as she declared? You know, for Alexandria.
  13. Cool! I've never seen a 439 with square trigger guard and normal rear sight. I always thought all gen 2's had those hideous, massive, fully adjustable sights...and round trigger guard. Just consulted the Standard Catalog and it's legit. Made between maybe 85-88. My first centerfire handgun (and still is) a 39-2. It's a "from my cold dead hands" gun because I'll never give it up.
  14. I would lean toward the heavier 180 gr rounds myself for the extra energy but there is a noticeable difference between those and the 165 gr rounds perceived recoil-wise. I find the 180's far more "snappy". I would recommend getting a few foxes of each weight and see what he's comfortable with. Either will suffice.
  15. Oh Shoot, the tactical troubadour. Reckon you could install some fitted foam or something to fill the case up?
  16. Or 5400 grains of .40 from one clip....
  17. Y'all let me know when these fantastical advances in 9mm ammo technology start delivering 180+ grains of earth-shattering devastation.
  18. Doesn't it get hot carrying that matchlock in your pocket?
  19. 9mm is European.
  20. This is just dumb as hell. "Sticking it to the man" is great fun and all but how much time did the ATF have to spend on such frivolity when they could have been processing worthy applications?
  21. Sure looks like some of it has to me. That must be considered in pricing....that's a negative attribute for those that think otherwise.
  22. National reciprocity on the federal level would be a nightmare. Does anyone really think differently?
  23. RIP Chuck Berry...
  24. Smith and Wessons with a cocked hammer are not to be trifled with.
