  1. I've got a feeling pushing the envelope really isn't a good idea right now.
  2. Sure does seem that way sometimes. Highly disappointing for a bunch of grown men.
  3. Endeavor to persevere. It's been while since I've fiddled with one and ain't going into the safe tonight. Sounds like you're close though.
  4. What are he markings on the heel of the receiver?
  5. My limited research (about two minutes of googling) leads me to believe you should really check the receiver to make sure it's not a re-weld. It is a 7.62x51mm rifle, not .308. Kinda the same thing with shooting .30-06 out of an M1. Dimensionally more or less identical but far greater pressure out of the commercial round. Was not designed for the pressure....long story short. BTW, that is the complete oppposite of 5.56x45mm. In that case the commercial version is lower pressure.
  6. 10, 20, 40 or 80 years old, it don't matter, all women dye their hair at some point. Might as well let the kid have some summer fun.
  7. Flip up the thing and maybe pull the trigger. Pull the bolt back and flip the bolt head counter-clockwise and then you just pull it out. If you look at it for a second it's really a simple design.
  8. I have a fully intact No 4 Mk 1 I remember my dad buying at a pawn shop in Memphis back in about 1978. Took it out for it's first go since then last year. Increadibly soft-shooting rifles. The .303 round is nearly identical to 7.62x54.
  9. Mechanically, it looks intact. You just need the forward wood and bayonet lug to make it right. Not undoable but finding decent wood could be problematic. Check www.libertytreecollectors.com to see what they have. That's a No. 4 Mk. 1, btw. Great rifles.
  10. Morrissey had some choice words for the British establishment: http://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/2017/05/24/morrissey-slams-petrified-british-politicians-for-not-labeling-manchester-attack-as-islamic-extremism.html I guess this one of those times when a musician goes off it's a good thing.
  11. I do hope the political section is brought back as I'm sure it will be for several reasons: 1) Healthy debate regarding how the country is run benefits everyone involved. That's not just on the national level but local as well. 2) I often find it very educational as things may be pointed out that I, or others may never have considered. 3) This is a forum localized to the state of Tennessee so we all share common interests and a greater sense of community than other national forums. 4) Old men are going to sit around and bitch about politics. It's a simple fact of life. I think the Internet Is the modern day corner barbershop. 5) Some of our members are news/political junkies. We all may be able to learn from what they find that we don't have the time for. Not sure what else there is to add that hasn't already been said or considered by management and everyone else involved. Finally, as this has happened before, it really should come as no surprise to us regulars that have been here for years. That's a testament to the comraderie this forum has developed. I think we overwhelmingly were against Obama, but lately there has been what resembles a Trump obsession if not outright worship that bewoe those who don't tow the line. We've gone from one extreme to another. That is just not right. I was raised to respect others opinions and live my life that way. I enjoy hearing and listening to other opinions as it can be enlightening and imho is necessary for any kind of civilized society....but will also reserve the right to retort when the rhetoric gets a little too deep. That's applies to being face to face with someone or tapping away on the internet. That's just who I am. Take it for what you all will, I've got a pretty thick skin. Seems like there are many that need to grow one and not get so bent out of shape when others have a different opinion.
  12. That was a good time. "Well damn, I just got shot".
  13. Does this mean we're gonna start talking about guns again?
  14. S&W hit it out of the park with the Shield. Love my 9 and have studied on getting the 45. The rebate going on sure doesn't hurt either.
  15. I could get behind that theory. If you zoom in and look close enough there is a definite band of discoloration. I still think solder was involved.
  16. Looks like Bubba soldered on a barrel esstention. I've seen a lot of things but never a trapdoor done that way.
  17. Hope you are enjoying your visit. Memphis is the most interesting city in the state. But I'm biased...I was born and raised there. So any bias I might have is based in reality.
  18. Thanks for the report. With SCCY moving to Blount County there may be some increased interest in them.
  19. It's customary to provide the entertainment when commenting.
  20. "Smoking that herb never killed anybody I've ever heard of. Stay away from the rest of that garbage and you'll be fine"
  21. Nearly 230 years of court rulings from all levels including the Supreme Court says so.
  22. Great vid, Cap. However, I've been fussing with my Mark II for about 25 years. Needed a hammer last time. It's never coming apart again, at least by my hands. Liberal blastings of Remoil are good enough for cleaning out the innards.
  23. Don't do it!
  24. No so sure about that. I can see what appear to be very pinpointed maps on some ads. I answered an ad a few months ago that was so accurate there was dot on the map at the exact location of the guys house.
