City of Knoxville Mayor Banning guns on street
Garufa replied to macville's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
The whole build up to this thing has been sketchy and confusing, especially in light of the news looking for a show. Basically, the 3 or 4 dozen stood for the monument to fallen Confederate soldiers. I think a good many of those where not "supremasists" at all but just trying to keep history from being erased, but I'm sure a few straight up racists. There were reinactors there in their Johnny Reb outfits for pete's sake. The other 2800 folks were the ones singing kumbaya and fretting over hate, intolerance and every other thing they get wound up about. The only thing organized about the whole affair was the overwhelming law enforcement presence, their planning, and all the "against the hate" crowd. The group originally credited for starting the whole thing barely even existed and announced before today they now longer are any kind of organized "white" group and would not be participating. -

Sounds like today's festivities were fairly uneventful. Only one arrest...a counter-protesting woman who wouldn't turn loose her mason jar. I'd like to think is was full of some East Tennessee hospitality to pass around. http://www.knoxnews.com/story/news/2017/08/26/live-updates-white-supremacist-rally-confederate-fort-sanders-monument-knoxville/602946001/ -
All this talk of being a well-appointed man reminds me I need to spend some money and go clothes shopping. None of my suits or blazers really fit anymore as I've expanded a bit. Business reasons aside, a man gets to a point in life where funerals become an increasing and inevitable probability. I like to look respectable on such ocassions.

It doesn't sound like they've messed with the trigger any. That's probably a good thing. If these were inspired by the "M" version I asume if they fixed the random slide coming off issue during dry fire. https://www.google.com/amp/www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2016/09/06/glock-17m-recall-update/amp/

The city is closing off a 6 or 7 block area in Fort Sanders, an extremely densely populated area of students, hipsters and what some would call hippies. So here are a couple of things for those who so wish to opine on: 1) Residents are supposed to be allowed ingress and egress of the area but I bet not even 5% have any kind of id that ties them to the area. 2) What about residents who might own guns in the exclusion zone? Are they suddenly disallowed from possessing those guns or is it allowed because the arms are in a private residence? And as OS pointed out, the side streets are lined with cars pretty much 24x7. Not only from residents, but visitors, commuter students (not much of an issue on weekends), and people trying to get to the hospital a couple of blocks away. -
I am prepared to offer my '98 Wide Glide for about one million dollars!

If you are asking that question of me, then reread my post. I never said anything about reasonable people. -

I'd like to add that those white supremacist assholes are not welcome in Knoxville AND there has been no official talk of removal of the monument to the fallen Confederate soldiers from the Battle of Ft. Sanders. That being said, the city is going to cordon off the whole area, ban weapons, and who is going to take them to court? -
Going to ruffle some feathers

Celebrate some diversity. I've thought about taking my 870 police magnum with 8 round tube to a turkey shoot this fall. -
I recently got this Lyman set. Haven't used it enough to properly review but is seems to be an excellent value for the money: https://www.amazon.com/Lyman-7991361-Tool-Kit-68Piece/dp/B06XF95F1V

I'm a grown man, I didn't "lay off" work. I took vacation after my dentist appointment this morning. Went to a friend's place in Farragut so caught maybe 1:30 of totality and didn't have to deal with any traffic.

That's much better than my iPhone 6 could manage, even holding some magic glasses over the lens.

That was one of the most, if not the most, amazing things I've ever seen. Everything they said about totality was true. Beyond fantastic. Th cicadas got all confused and started raising hell. Wasn't thinking about that happening but it did.

I'm here to tell ya it's pretty cool!

Fantastic episode but it looks like we're getting shafted this season. Next week is the season finale.

9:45 am I-40 West in Knoxville is moving slow, bumper to bumper as far as the eye can see. I'd say it is beginning.

Loved his goofiness growing up and watching the MD telethons all weekend long.

While I'm sure the stories are fascinating and would enjoy reading them if available, I still am not exactly concerned with Japanese sailors' probable elation with knowing they exacted revenge when it was not theirs to savor. Other than the writings of the I-58's captain and transcripts of Captain McVay's court marshal where the sub commander appeared as a witness for the prosecution, not sure that anything exists. Might have to go to Japan to find anything, but as modern historians are more focused on feelings rather than facts perhaps some grad student will try to look at it from their perspective. To me, the aftermath of the incident is a more interesting story.

I imagine many of those people will wish they asked for more after cleaning up and trying to dispose of all the trash that will most likely be left behind, not to mention demands to use the bathroom.
