Nashville Help Before the New Year
DHF replied to DocHawk's topic in Nashville Area's Nashville Chatter
Glad to hear you are in the area and will be adding to the community with your services. Unfortunately, I am leaving town earlier in the week. It would have been great to meet you, give a hand and see a lathe. I hope someone is available to give you a hand and if someone comes to mind, I'll reach out to them on your behalf.- 1 reply

Honolulu Police Chief Encourages Citizens to Report Legal Guns Not Concealed Another situation reinforcing why it is better to not live in a state restricted to concealed carry. From GunsAmerica Digest. “Obviously, concealed carry and the definition of ‘conceal’ means that you can’t see it or it is unrecognizable to the average person,” said Logan (Honolulu Police Chief). “If it is noticed and you can see it, I would ask you to call 911.” Another situation reinforcing why it is better to not live in a state restricted to concealed carry. https://www.gunsamerica.com/digest/honolulu-police-chief-encourages-citizens-to-report-legal-guns-not-concealed/

What Most People Who Carry Fail to Realize
DHF replied to crc4's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Andrew has the online version of the course with the Tennessee state supplement for $99 on his website (DVD options available as well). Well worth the money and I would classify it as a requirement. It isn't just about carrying a handgun but just walking around in this messed up world. Self-defense law applies to any means you employ to defend yourself including open hand. -
What Most People Who Carry Fail to Realize
DHF replied to crc4's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I find it amazing as well how many I people I talk to in our community that spend a large amount of time and money on firearms, accessories and even a lot of training but haven't spent any time on educating themselves on the legality of carrying and self-defense law. The fudd lore is very strong on these subjects. I often even receive scoffs from people when I bring it up. Andrew Branca's book is cheap as heck and a great place to start. https://lawofselfdefense.com and on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/@Lawofselfdefense The following two cover self-defense and firearms law and are great resources as well: William Kirk at Washington Gun Law. https://www.youtube.com/@WashingtonGunLaw Richard Hayes and Emily Taylor at the Armed Attorneys are another great reference. https://www.youtube.com/@ArmedAttorneys -

Had a great time. Very nice to get to meet a couple of online acquaintances face to face. I hope we can make these kind of meetings happen more often.

Giorgia Meloni - on Why They Hate Us - put simply
DHF replied to DHF's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
This one? CPAC 2022. https://www.conservative.org/video/giorgia-meloni-cpac-2022/ -
It is good news that more people are owning firearms. Covid really helped with this as well. Unfortunately, I still hear many of them say things that start with, "I own a gun, but..." and then make some ignorant pro gun control / restriction statement. But, one step at a time, I guess. At least if they own a firearm, they shouldn't be completely anti Second Amendment and are open to seeing things from a more positive perspective.

Active Shooter Training in Chicago turns into an Active Shooter Situation
DHF replied to DHF's topic in General Chat
What could go wrong? -
https://abc7chicago.com/chicago-shooting-homan-square-avenue-grenshaw-street/12268505/ Apparently, the Chicago police shot an apparent intruder at a CPD facility in Homan Square on Monday afternoon... An apparent intruder, non-police, climbed the exterior fire escape and grabbed a gun off of a table and started pointing it at officers. I guess Illinois should get a law against this on the books ASAP so it doesn't happen again.

They are stickers as Chucktshoes already stated.

I didn't notice one on the front of the building. I doubt it, though.

It always makes me happy when I see this hanging in the sign section at Lowes. They have had them for a few years now. I pick one up every so often just to make sure they are registering sales for them.

Questions on Building a SBR on the AR platform
DHF replied to Snaveba's topic in National Firearms Act (NFA) Regulated
I have a slightly different way of looking at this and below are the actions I took. Please excuse the length. I have more than one lower registered as an SBR and have had them for a while now. Each one was registered at a specific barrel length and overall length than the others and one with a different caliber (5.56 and 300 being those used). Recently, I sent a letter to the ATF for each designation titled “Additional Upper Receiver and Caliber Configurations for a Registered SHORT-BARRELED RIFLE” that specified all the additional calibers, barrel lengths & overall lengths that lower may be configured as. I requested a return letter for my request from the ATF approving or denying it. I originally received approval on the lowers a while ago and just got around to doing this. I have been meaning to do this for a while now but with the current geo/political state continuing to be what it is, I figured sooner was better than later. Why I did this: There is all kinds of information on the internet saying you do or you don’t but many legal professionals I referenced suggest you do this and then there is the statement below is on the form itself (see below) that could be used as a basis to mess with someone. Now, I am not actually too worried about an agent showing up at my home, or the range but I am concerned that an overzealous law enforcement officer or District Attorney might ignore our rights &/or the actual law (WHAT?!, no way) and it was an easy CYA at the end of the day. There is also the reason I registered them all in the first place instead of waiting for a more convenient time, they can always change the rules, the cost and other restrictions of these things and now I am at least one file with them and their optional configurations. Also, you are already on file with them when you submit to make an SBR or purchase a suppressor, so it isn’t like you have anything to lose by having more paper to cover your bottom with. I do suggest you file for the SBR. It is not very difficult to do and $200 is nothing compared to what they could make it. Not to mention that now you will have one. They were also approved in a short amount of time when i efiled. Just my take. Do whatever works for you. I’m not a lawyer or a government agent. Heck, I don’t even play one on TV. > From Form 1 (Application to Make and Register a Firearm under “Important Information for Currently Registered Firearm” Change of Description or Address: The registrant shall notify the NFA Division, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, 244 Needy Road, Martinsburg, WV 25405, in writing, of any change to the description of the firearm in item 4, or any change to the address of the registrant. -

People who say things such as “Me and John went to the store” instead of, “John and I went to the store.” It is like hearing someone say, “Me posted to this pet peeve discussion.”
