  1. This has nothing to do with why they had to redesign them but didn't someone post something about the batf deeming the gsg5sd an NFA item and had to be retrofitted with replacement barrel shrouds? Also if you're looking for mags I can tell you where to find some if you PM me.
  2. I work for Target and a few months ago they sent out a memo about open carrying. Basically it stated that unless someone is acting inappropriately with a firearm its cool. Now if they would just change their policy about carrying while working.
  3. I was watching some of the Magpul DVDs and they made the point of saying that a weapon mounted light is a good idea because you might need that other had for something else, like opening a door, or holding your child to get out of a bad situation, or possibly moving a wounded buddy or family member. They were advocating it more for carry however I haven't felt the need to carry one on my carry gun I definitely have one on the bedside gun.
  4. I bought a Double Star upper and they seem to put a semiglossy finish on their parts whereas most other AR parts are a dull matte black. The question i guess is, is there anything i can put on it to dull it down a little bit so it will match the lower I have?
  5. but there cylinder and barrel is in a 642
  6. I'd say that's a fair deal considering you can buy a new for $329 and they have a $50 mail in rebate until the end of the month.
  7. The mavericks used to have only one action bar but now are coming with 2. the biggest difference is as mentioned the location of the safety. The mavericks are not drilled and tapped for a rail some of the 500 models are and some aren't.(I think it's the A models aren't). The reason I think the forearm on the mavericks is flimsy is because they are completely plastic. The majority if not all the 500's have some kind of steel insert in the forearm that gives it a different feel. One thing to consider is whether or not you're going to put a pistol grip on it. I don't like the location of the 500 safety because it's not easily accesible with a PG.
  8. Which length barrel did you go with? I have a 10.5" which has jammed on me once. I attribute it to the wolf ammo i was shooting. Also note i was mixing up pmc 223, wolf 223, winchestor 5.56, sellier and belliot 223. It just happened that 2 wolfs were together.
  9. I'm a slightly upset that I ordered mine exactly 1 week before the 20% off deal.
  10. I bought one of these rails and the jury is still out onthem. It's not quite as heavy as I thought it would be which is good and bad. It's still fairly light but under alot of strain it might not hold up. I haven't shot it yet but I'm thinking the way it attaches to the barrel without locktite it might move which could be a problem if you're trying to run an optic.
  11. If i were going to buy one I'd buy an S&W 329PD .44mag
  12. I don't normally advocate carrying without a holster but i carry my 3AT in the waistband with a belt clip. The gym shorts I wear have a thick 2in. elastic waistband and a drawstring. It doesn't shift or anything as long as the drawstring is tied tight.
  13. I've got an old F.I.E. .25 that's a beretta knockoff i bought off an old guy at the Nashville fairgrounds. It's never jammed the only problem I have is that it won;t eject an unfired round and I never could find an extra mag for it. No big deal it just sits in the safe.
  14. The lcr has a sweet trigger. I don't like the oversized grip it comes with. It makes it seem big. Hopefully hogue or someone will come out with a boot grip if they haven't already. The overall profile was more like a centennial The one I looked at had a little rattling sound to it that irked me. Could have been just that one but I doubt it. If I had to choose today I'd go 642. A year from now could be different.
  15. Also too you have to think that you probably don't want to hire you're average employee off the street to make ammo or guns for that matter. Hiring to run machinery to build precision instruments isn't exactly the same as hiring to flip a burger or stock shelves.
  16. I bought my mother an sp101 with the shrouded hammer and put .38spl in it. You could do something like that or a s&w 640. As a aide note what do you guys think about that .327 fed that ruger and taurus make?
  17. I've heard a few things regarding the .380 ammo shortage. I heard that .380 is produced on the same line as 9mm. I think Winchester makes ammo for the military so with stuff going on in Iraq and Afghanistan they're not going to stop fulfilling theyre contractual obligations just to make .380. Assuming it is made on the same line and even if you don't have a government contract why would you stop to make .380 when all of your 9mm is being sold? It seems theres a perfect storm for this caliber. HCPs are up and lots of people are wanting pocket sized pistols in .380 Kel Tecs being making them for years, along with Bersa, and now the LCP with a Taurus, Walther, and Sigs right around the corner. Combine this with the political climate (ammo serialization, gun bans, etc.) and you have lots of panic buying. Also Academy has been getting about a case of .380 per truck if anyone is interested. It's monarch, but i guess it's better than nothing.
  18. Yeah i posted the other day asking sort've asking about safes.
  19. Keep in mind this is a SHTF kinda deal. Here's my choices. Shotgun- would be sufficient with various loads. AK- reliable, good knockdown power, but everything's heavy. gun, mags, ammo AR- accurate, carry lots of mags and ammo, but expensive to replace if stolen SUB2000 or CX4- shares pistol mags, but lacks power of rifle round. Something else in .223?- maybe a su-16 or a mini14 something long those lines.
  20. Sorry I clicked the wrong thing there's supposed to be a poll
  21. I'm moving into a new apartment and I don't want to haul all my guns with me for fear of them getting stolen, I also won't have room for a large safe. Now I have a small one that I can put handguns in but I'm going to leave my long guns locked up somewhere else. Now I'm going to keep one long gun with me as well as an HD shotgun but which long gun? I want one that that can get me to the rest of them. Here are a few options. What do you guys suggest?
  22. I'm moving to a new apartment soon, with maintenance guys having free reign to go to and fro I was wondering what's the best way to secure my guns. Short of buying a 1000 safe? I'm considering a heavy duty locking cabinet mounted in the closet which can be had for a few hundred dollars and saving for a nice heavy duty fireproof safe.
  23. The only reason the scar is priced that high is because it's serial number 16. It doesn't make a difference to me because it's sold. But we did have one lcp Saturday at the show. I'm sure it lasted all of 2 mins.
