I wonder if they differentiate between selling through FFL (ie most of gunbroker sales) vs. selling to an individual at a gunshow, or armslist etc. also if going through gunbroker you would theoretically be getting market value.

Lee powder disk question regarding IMR 8208
orientalexpress replied to orientalexpress's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
Ok I went back and reread your post. The largest hole in the largest disk (I can't remember but it's something like 1.56) throws about 20gr of powder. I am not using any double disks or anything just the disks that came with the press. I loaded up 10 rounds and they cycle lock Back. Now from what I've been reading a lot of people are getting somewhere around 23ish gr of powder. So I if I wanted to throw 2 powder charges I should start at the .80-.90 disk and weigh to get up to .21-.23 gr? Bc hypothetically a disk around .78 thrown twice would give me close to the same amount of powder as the 1.56 I'm using? -
Lee powder disk question regarding IMR 8208

Thanks. I was trying to read that and comprehend but I'm exhausted and I'll have to check it out tomorrow. -
Look what I just ordered. It has arrived!

The trigger on an unconverted saiga is awful and I can't imagine this being much better especially since it sounds like it uses the stock linkage. That's my only gripe with bull pups. That's being said that is super cool. I may have to pick me up another saiga 12. -
I know some of you might not agree but I don't have a problem with the term assault rifle, even though technically that's not the true definition. I think calling them modern sporting rifles is disingenuous. Maybe theyre not select fire but I own my rifles for 2 primary reasons. To defend myself and my family and to resist foreign and domestic enemies (and shooting is fun too). The moment I have to do those things I am in an offensive posture despite its defensive position. And let's not be naive to think that they don't have a high rate of fire even though they are semiautomatic.

Lee powder disk question regarding IMR 8208
orientalexpress replied to orientalexpress's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
I just want to get close. I only have the single disk and want to do as few disk changes as possible because the screws that hold the hopper on seem pretty week. Maybe one day I'll invest in something better if I really get into it or until this setup breaks. -
I picked up some IMR 8208 to load some .223 75gr a-max. I don't really reload a lot except for some 300 blackout. The only real reason I'm reloading is because of the ammo crunch as I have plenty of access to components to get me through until ammo isn't scarce. Anyways Im using lee powder disk measurer and it doesn't list IMR 8208 on the chart that tells you gr/disk. The only info I can find on Lees website is a chart that says VMD and next to IMR 8208 .07104. I'm sure theres a formula to figure it out but I can't figure it out. Can anyone help explain?

I'll admit it wasnt as bad in 08/09 however to claim you haven't seen anything similar to what's going in now is an understatement. I worked for a gun shop and worked gun shows during those 2 years and I saw plenty of ammo, mags and guns dry up and plenty of price gouging. I personally used that as a learning experience and have been stockpiling ever since. Just to gloat a little I stumbled across a BX-25 mag I forgot I bought months ago!

Where were you in 2008/2009?
-
I just found a 25 rounder I forgot I had bought. Lucky for me.

I heard that at least one of the manufacturers was going to cut back production on some of the items that mostly wouldn't be affected by legislation (ie small revolvers) to focus on things that would be.
-
I wonder how many of the guns they show in stock are actually there at buds? I believe they used to have their website show inventory of their distributors and have that distributor drop ship it to the ffl dealer. I think they got in bit of trouble over that. So maybe the distributor is dragging about getting it to them, there by delaying their shipment to you. just speculation.
-
I want to know how many manufacturers were at or near max capacity as it is? There's only so many raw materials they have and can get at any given time. Same goes for production. The dealers and distributors have the most to gain I think, until the manufacturers catch up.

Lots of people have mentioned here that in there moral principles they wouldn't do this that and the other. I agree that $600 is way too high for a receiver. But if they sell them for the normal price someone is likely to buy them up and sell them on gunbroker, arms list, gun show etc. that's what's happening with ammo at place like Walmart academy. Before any of you jump on here saying that's not what I'm doing I'll never do that whatever, you can easily see that maybe you're not doing it but someone is. I don't know what the right answer is. I mean if you're a small gun dealer and you pay retail at Walmart and mark up ammo at $10. Is that wrong? $20? Is it wrong that you bought all the ammo and no one else gets any at that price?

Really? I've never met the guy but seems like a stand up guy (especially with components during the panic buy) and you're too impatient to let him respond after a gun show? I've worked gun shows during 2008/2009 and the last thing I wanted to do was answer more questions after I left there. Cut the guy some slack.
-
Does anyone have any evidence this is really happening? In other words does anyone suspect this is a troll? Also whoever did send a letter is indeed one was sent I would hope their stand up enough to admit it and Stand behind their

Look at the AR shortage and compare
orientalexpress replied to vontar's topic in Survival and Preparedness
I work in the gun business. Yeah most of them are semi auto but you'd be surprised at how many don't fall under what a lot of people suspect would fall under the supposed AWB. I worked through the 2008 election and this past election/panic. Sure we sold a lot of AR, AKs, and Glocks(etc), however we've sold tons of revolvers, and lots of semi auto sub 10rd mag pistols, lots of 10/22 (which could be made high cap), lots of .22 pistols (I guess for ammo prices). -

Thanks. I Had a feeling they probably wouldn't be because of shot show and the fact that they are probably behind in production. -

Does anyone know of JT distributin is there? I need to buy a castle nut, a couple of roll pins and a mag catch. I was going to try and go late today. I'd rather not pay $13 for park admissions etc. for about $10 in parts, but if rather pay that for the convenience of it. -
Hypothetically, do you think the buyer(s) would have the same opinion if an AWB went into effect tomorrow?

Im pretty sure the SSN has nothing to do with it. Your SSN is attached to your DL #. It does make it faster because they don't have to look it up. I worked for a gun shop and had bought several guns before and never listed my SSN. Then one day I bought an AR receiver and had a co worker call it in to tbi. The lady tried to tell him that bc I was not born in the US that she had to have it, which is BS. Then my co worker explained that I worked there and we know that's not true. She replied, "oh it's just easier so I don't have to look it up" Anyways I've ran hundreds on background checks and I have no idea why some people get denied for no reason. I've seen HCP holders, police officers, and military denied. I'm fairly certain your ssn really doesn't have any bearing on it.

I can't speak for gander mountain but at target there were purchase limits on highly sought after items, whether you were an employee or joe blow off the street. To me if there's no rules set forth by the employer or retail store I still don't have a problem. Is it a douche move? Probably. Is it wrong? I doubt it. Besides we don't know how many they were getting if he bought 10 out of 100 is that too many? Maybe it was 10 out of 10, could have been 15 out of 300. I don't recall him saying.
