  1. Put the slide in a vise, put something on top of the sight so you’re not hammering the sight directly, and give it a couple of solid whacks with a hammer. That’s what they taught me to do at the armorers course.
  2. I bought both of them. Eventually I want to form 1 both of them obviously for the stock on the SP5 and specifically so I can put the VFG on the K model. I've had a couple of them. the later SP5s had drum peep sights instead of the notched drum sight which i guess is more correct.
  3. I've seen one in person but never fired. It probably worth the $699 MSRP. Quality wise it was on par with one of the SA Mil-Spec defenders.
  4. I don't even know what's "affordable" anymore. I mean $699-1000 is more expensive than it used to be, but I have a $1000+ iphone thats going to be completely obsolete in 2-3 years. I can remember when you could get a top of the line phone just for signing up for service.
  5. Some guy on reddit is the OP.
  6. So it's a polymer 938, Micro9, 911 that takes shield plus mags. Someone will be along shortly to say it'll never sell and the market is saturated etc.
  7. Not arguing that point. So that doesn't translate to carry size polymer pistols?
  8. I know nothing about Hyundais but the Element, Prelude, Del Sol, and S2000 come to mind. Where are they?
  9. I was just thinking about when Springfield released their Saint rifle. I remember thinking WTF, who needs another AR manufacturer. Their ARs aren't really aren't any better than other $1200-1400 AR but I can tell you this, we've sold close to 1000 of them for a "me too" product.
  10. I guess that depends on your definition of success. Hypothetically, if they end up being a $299 price point gun, and sell a tens of thousands of guns to people who would otherwise buy something like a Taurus. Is it a success or not? Their bean counters will determine that I guess. I'm not saying it's going to be successful, and maybe it flops but through their R&D it might shake loose something that is what you would consider a success. Again the market will dictate that. This is getting off in the weeds a bit and not exactly apples to apples but to your example, many companies that are not traditional "truck" companies have ventured into the truck market, Honda and Hyundai, Jeep (less recently) and soon to be Tesla to a lesser degree. Whose to say that they don't have something in the works to compete in that 1500 class. If Honda came something are you going to say "It'll never work they should only build sedans and fuel efficient SUVs"? Or to keep it in the Gun world when Glock finally builds a PCC are you going to say "who needs another PCC? Glock should just keep making handguns"
  11. I disagree. The past year or so they've climbed into the price ranges of what a would consider a superior fit and finish. They are no longer the "reasonably" priced alternative.
  12. I don't have a problem with it. The market will dictate whether or not it will be successful. If everyone had that attitude companies like Ruger wouldn't be around.
  13. I told them while I was there, they should build a limited run of Model 99s, to go with the nostalgia reproductions we've seen somewhat recently.
  14. I didn't say it was their iconic pistol. Spoiler alert: It's just a 1911.
  15. Negative. Here's a photo of the slide blanks I saw in person. They also have another iconic pistol coming out soon.
  16. Maybe for some things be we got in 3 pallets of REM shot shells a week or so ago.
  17. Why are you guys checking that box anyways (unless you are a dealer)?
  18. I have used some for several months. I've used it with a couple different style 9mm bolts. I was skeptical in the plastic ejector and even spoke with the manufacturer about it. They explored the possibility of pinning a metal ejector but the plastic was already so thin that creating a spot to pin a metal ejector made the area that held the pin even weaker. They claim you can get 10,000 or so rounds before the ejector fails, which spread amongst say 5 mags is alot of rounds. I don't see this replacing dedicated lowers, because once you've bought enough mags/adapters you can infinitely surpass the overall cost of a dedicated lower. However, someone that doesn't want to knock out a bolt catch for a full auto lower, or SBR to put in some type of 9mm block it's a great idea. As far as the manual of arms, they recommend locking the action back with the mag in, then removing the mag, then then visually/tactically inspect the chamber, which is opposite of everything most people have been taught. That can be off putting for some people but for me just tinkering with it isn't a big deal. They offer a CMMG model meant to work with their radial delay blowback system that has its own ejector which acts just like a 566. Basically they cut the ejector off of the mag. CMMG looks like they partnered with them to offer mag combos and complete rifles. I think they're called ARC. https://www.cmmginc.com/9-arc/ I've had about 1,000 rounds with no issues but i've read where people had had issues with certain style bolts. Mine is a PSA i paid $250 for a complete upper. Some (BOLTS) are cut just slightly different than others. Some of them have to "break in" before they work reliably.
  19. My guess it that it has to do with Vista trying to sell Savage.
  20. I did it to a carbine gas system that I put a longer FF handguard on. The main reason is because the barrel wasn’t parkerized where they drilled the holes for the pins. I figured it would be better to have the pins in there not exposing the bare metal to air. Also as someone mentioned its never going to work loose like a set screw could. I just hit it with some gun blue, then painted it exhaust header paint. You weren’t going to see it so it didn’t have to be pretty.
  21. this is misleading. if Your local gun shop is selling these as anything other than blem I would start shopping somewhere else. Here’s a pic from an email from the distributor in question.
  22. Just to play devils advocate, since Glock's technically only have a one year warranty. Is it possible he was trying to sell a Davidson's gun? They charge more than other distributors but they offer a warranty. http://www.galleryofguns.com/about/terms.aspx
  23. There's kit you're supposed to get that has the right length screws and a plate that covers up the bottom side of the optic where it overhangs off the edge of a Glock.
  24. I've been considering one of these for backpacking. http://gunfightersinc.com/?page_id=251
  25. I can't believe that guy is still in business. Hope you guys have fun though.
