  1. Can not beat a Kahr PM9 or its more economical brother CM9. Small single stack 6 shot 9mm with a great trigger.
  2. I ordered one of their 16" 5.56 barrels which was shipped Friday.
  3. Primary Arms has 15% off on barrels. I ordered a Tactical Ambush 16" 5.56 Nato barrel- M4 profile-carbine length gas block- 1:9 twist for $114 shipped. Has anyone tried these barrel before. Hopefully will be good 50yd to 100yd shooter.
  4. I checked their website and they have some low barrel prices. Has anyone bought one of these barrels???
  5. TrickyNicky, I'll try the plastic takedown pins but will have a metal backup set. These AR's and accessories are too addictive. If I keep this up, I'll have to find a part time job.
  6. I received my complete polymer lower today from JoeBob's for $110, then $25 transfer fee at LCS. The only negative I see is Plastic take-down pins front/rear. It does have a metal buffer tube. Has anyone had any problem with failure of plastictaken-down pins. Now I need an economical 5.56 16" pencil barrel 1:8 or 1:9 twist. I've not decided if I want an A2 front sight or M4 flat top with railed gas block. Suggestions. I want minimum weight and my target build price is $485, if all items come into inventory at Palmetto State Armory, JoeBob's, and JSE Surplus. I can not afford to buy a complete upper at one time (Palmetto has some good Memorial day sales), just what parts I can buy cheaply each month.
  7. An over-gassed AR, I'm new to this term and AR's. I finished a build for a Spike's Tactical AR with 18" ss Barrel 1:8 twist in 223 Wylde. Recoil is very mild and accuracy when I do my part is less than 1 MOA at 100 yds. I do notice that brass is ejected around 1:30. Reading other postings, this is described as over-gassed if not ejecting brass 3:00-4:30. I have not noticed any excessive power residue or blowing powder residue or gas during recoil. I know from postings that an adjustable gas block is the solution. Will this condition cause excessive wear to BGC and upper receiver, if so is it after 1000's of rounds or 100's? Concerned.
  8. I have shot about 100 rds thru it and the same noise when BCG recoils back thru Buffer tube.
  9. When shooting M&P10 308 the spring/buffer make a kling/klang noise as BCG recoils in buffer tube/stock with brass thrown out at 4:00-5:00 o'clock. Is this klanging noise a problem as far as wear, etc? How can this noise be eliminated? thanks
  10. I ordered a complete New Frontier Armory LW15 GenII lower polymer receiver form JoeBob's. Next month I'll look for a 16" pencil taper LW barrel in 5.56/223. Does anyone know of some good economical deals out there?
  11. Has anyone used this polymer receiver? Any problems with complete lower with polymer hammer/trigger? I want a light weight AR 223/5.56x45 and was thinking about this lower. I thought about adding regular metal trigger/hammer set instead of polymer ones. What upper receiver would also be on lighter side? I have some left over parts, except barrel , upper receiver and BCG to complete. Goal is a light weight AR for less than $500.
  12. S&W and Ruger revolvers, especially SS, are kept, shot ocassionally to alot. There is a rustic appeal to a good revolver.

    KAHR 45

Everyone has different tastes, which is good, if not we might all be driving Mercedes and caring Colt 1911's.

    KAHR 45

I have a Kahr CW45 and a PM9, both are outstanding with great triggers. The 45 ACP recoil is not that bad, much better than the 40 SW. Great reliable single stack semi-autos that are very easy to conceal with their slimness. If you have not shot one, you should. I've reduced handgun inventory and these are two of my keepers.
  15. I found a deal on Vortex Viper 6.5-20 x 44mm SF Dead-Hold BDC from Midway for $299.99 with free shipping. Hope the Vortex scopes are as good as everyone says. I know its not the Viper PST, but I hope it works well for the money. I'm sure it will be clearer/better than my Tasco. I should receive it by next Friday and maybe try it out next Saturday.
  16. I just finished my first AR build of a Spikes Tactical with 18" ss Rainer Arms Match 223 Wylde barrel 1:8 twist. I have a Tasco 8-24x40mm scope and would like to upgrade to a variable to make shots 100 to 600yds, mostly 300 yds or less.  I like the literature on Nikon BDC for 100-600yds,but 40 MOA internal adjustment looks very low. What would you recommend for $500 range or lower, prefer lower.Tasco was less than $115, 8 yrs ago.
  17. The CZ527 is a nice accurate and well built bolt action. I regret selling mine, for it grouped less than MOA at 100 yds. Good luck with your choice.
  18. Fired 20 rds at 100 yds after installing above kits, trigger very much improved and lighter. No failures to fire and groupswere good.Next for better optics, maybe Nixon 223 scope or Redfield  in 4-16 x42mm.
  19. I received JP trigger/hammer spring kit and the grip screw trigger travel adjuster in afternoon mail, and installed with no problem. Tomorrow I'll shoot AR with new springs and see if trigger pull is improved.
  20. What ammunition are you shooting, mine is usually pretty clean, for I don't clean after every shooting session. I don't shot Wolf steel ammo, but most copper clad others.
  21. Aqua blue due to bad photo lighting, sorry, suppose to be FDE.
  22. That 20 foot heavy barrel, must be Real Heavy! Ha!!
  23. I just completed my first AR15 build. A Spike's Tactical lower/upper receiver, PSA LPK, PSA Preium 6 position Mil-spec buffer tube assembly, Spikes Tactical BGC, Spikes Tactical charging handle, Rainer Arms Match midlength 18" 1:8 twist SS 223 Wylde barrel, Odlin low profile gas block, Yhm Phantom 5C1 Comp/flash suppressor, UTG Pro Super Slim 13" FF Handguard, Magpul MOE stock and Plus grip, UTG 5.25"L x .80" H riser, Nikon high scope rings, Tasco 8-24x 40mm Target/Varmint scope, and 2 point sling/qd swivels. I just zeroed scope and then put about 17 rds of 55g UMC down range at 100 yd target. Several 3 shot groups 0.75" to 0.88". The trigger was hard/heavy with little creep. I have a JP spring kit ordered and Grip Screw trigger adjuster from Joe Bob's Outfitters. Maybe a smoother and slightly lighter trigger will improve group size. I would like to replace Tasco scope with a better optic when funds become available. AR builds are too habit forming.
  24. I'll check on JP Enterprise lighter springs, but want to stay 4.5# - 5#, I think.
  25. I charged the AR, put safety on, and pulled the trigger, trigger travel is 1/16" to 1/8", travel much less than my M&P15 SP. I'll check on line for how to polish trigger/hammer contact points. I know there are lighter weight trigger/hammer springs by JP Enterprise, but don't want too light a trigger. I'm more interested in a reliable trigger. I'm a little hesitant on polishing contact points which could cause reliability problems if not done correctly.
